  1. I haven't hear of that either, but people do that with clothes all the time so why not a wedding dress!
  2. I have seen them used at an all inclusive wedding before. Super cute and contemplating doing them myself, but being deterred at getting them there.
  3. If I was having a bridal party, that's the dress I would chosen!
  4. Sorry you are going through a hard time with your bridesmaids @lcboyko! That is one of the reasons I "selfishly" decided to not have a bridal party. I didn't want the added stress with making sure they were doing what I needed or wanted them to do. I have had a few friends offer to help with stuff, but I am pretty much on my own for the planning part. Don't get me wrong my fiance is involved but he usually just says "whatever you want" which isn't as helpful as he thinks! Love your wedding date
  5. Amen, to challenges bringing people closer! At least you will have about 6 months to settle in before the wedding. I knew we would have a ton of stuff going on towards the end of summer/ beginning of fall so I tired to get a bit ahead of schedule with the planning. Next big thing on my list is getting a dress!
  6. That's exciting! Its a new chapter in your lives, that's what I keep telling myself every time something new pops up.
  7. I agree about the breeze @@upstatekj! I wanted to go with the Lobster House, but it might not be available and I am not sure if we will end up with 35 guests. But I think Las Olas might be a better fit. Which package are you going with?
  8. Is anyone doing their reception at Las Olas?? I didn't realize all the options till Jessica just sent them to me. Since we don't think we are going to get a DJ (just go to the disco or bar after) this might be the perfect option. Causal, on the beach, but not totally in the sand and completely unique to the destination!
  9. I totally understand @@MissJen3!! The only time we spent together in the past 2 weeks was working on the house for the whole weekend, while his ex did nothing. In her defense she had a baby a few months ago and lives an hour away. But she will still be getting 1/2 the profit. I can't wait till it is all over and we can move on with our life and our stuff. Our wedding plans have been on the back burner since this house project started.
  10. I am right there with ya! We will have to move 30 days before our wedding! It was better than having to move right now with everything going on (selling a house, fiance moving his business, death in the family, not to mention work and normal life etc.) oh and did I mention we just got a puppy this weekend and my fiance had to go out of town right after! This is my longest relationship ever and within the past 6 months I have really realized how entwined our lives were going to be. Kind of new to me it makes the hard things easier and his rough times easier as well. Thank goodness for wine, cheers! I can relate to this one! My fiance still owes a house with his ex and finally are selling it. He spent 2 weeks and almost $20,000 to fix it up without her help at all. Fingers crossed it sells super quickly!!
  11. @@linaco80 Unfortunately our resort doesn't upgrade to the room we want. They only have about a dozen of those rooms and they don't allow it. So instead we are giving our upgrade to my sister who will be celebrating her delayed honeymoon. The TA we are working with was able to get us great pricing and we ended up saving over $1,000 on the room anyways so I can't really complain. It is just more than I would have spent, but its a super awesome room!
  12. I am almost at 150, but cant see the pics yet! I am interested in the following.... 7 jute and rope beach bags 15 canvas totes bought from cheaptotes.com 1 hair flower brand new never worn Various OOT bag filler items If you still have any of those please PM me or email me at sabrabenes@@gmail.com. Thank you!!
  13. Our "hidden" costs are: My fiance wanting to a more expensive room than I would have chosen Getting married the weekend before at the courthouse just the two of us (hotel room, food, photographer) Potentially adding live music or a DJ
  14. So far so good! I am an event planner and used to do weddings and I really wanted mine to be simple. That was one of the main reasons why we chose a destination wedding, was to make it simple, easier, less stress and to reduce costs. For us we wanted a bigger adults only resort. We had just come back from Sandals in St. Lucia and had stayed at the smallest resort there, which was perfect for just to 2 of us, but we had visited the other 2 larger resorts. Which was more of the vibe we wanted for our wedding and guests. That was appealing about Excellence and I liked their wedding packages better. I didn't want to have to add much in decor, we just wanted the beach and background to be our decor. At some of the resorts we would have to add so much to the package, it wasn't as cost effective nor what I even wanted. Oh and the 2 story, terrace ocean view room also pushed me over the edge! I looked at almost every resort in that area. The reviews also helped me along with pictures and the beach. Some of the places had a rocky beach which I don't care for. After 2 months of my own research I got a TA who also helped me and with her help I narrowed it down to 5 and then 3 choices, but for some reason Excellence was always my first choice.
  15. I tan super easily too! So I will have to be careful with that as well. Luckily we are only there one full day prior to getting married so it should be okay!
  16. We are going with Excellence Riviera Cancun and I looked into all of them in that area!!
  17. Hi @@Wrathwitch, I used destinationweddings.com, but also wright travel on here are great as well! They gave us double occupancy and single occupancy rates. Depending on how many days guests are staying depends on the costs for double or single. I definitely recommend using a travel agent since they are able to get you better rates then you could on your own and it makes everyone else job easier when booking. Hope this helps!
  18. I am getting married there too! I have a few single friends and I have offered them all a plus one if they want it. I am working with a TA so the single rate wasn't too crazy about $200 more, but not unreasonable. Depending on who comes I will offer to pair them up, but not sure who is going to end up booking for sure. I did Jane Doe & Guest and for all the couples, I just put both names regards if they were both coming or not. We know a few won't be able to make it up we still sent them save the dates, cause we had already talked to them. We probably won't send invitations to the people who have said no, since that will have more information.
  19. Welcome!! This is a great forum and glad you are excited, its much more fun when you are excited. Enjoy the ride
  20. LOVE your dress so so so pretty @@deedeelala. I am also wanting a backless dress and will just have to be super careful in the sun prior to the wedding. I plan to wear lots of sunblock and if I do tan my back just untie my straps to avoid tan lines. Depending on your dress you could get cups sewn in. My sister did that with her strapless dress and it looked great! Even better than with a bra on.
  21. ha ha ha I would love to see fanny packs at a wedding!
  22. Just getting back on here after a few crazy days at work. I agree with everyone's comments . I love the idea of sewing a fun ribbon into the dress or you could do a "wedding Belt" like this one here (except this is a tad expensive) http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/sashandco/product/beatrix. I was originally planning on do a real flower in my hair, but after ready reviews about hair and weather a real flower will wilt quickly. So I am either doing a fake flower or something with feathers/little bling.
