  1. Hi! We aren't doing a bridal party either! Like you said, I don't want to put extra costs on people already coming to Jamaica and also it limits the amount of coordination on my end as well - which is kind of my whole point of doing a destination wedding! I'm still planning to use a color theme for our website, invites, etc. but I don't plan to be super strict about it at the actual wedding. If my bouquet is pinks and reds I'd be fine with that - or I'd just go all white. I won't do special chair sashes or anything - again, just seems like a lot of work that I don't have the patience for For colors, I think I'm going to do like navy and teal and tan - reminiscent of the colors of the ocean, sand and sky!
  2. Thanks for the review! We're still not decided, but all these positive reviews make me feel like we really can't go wrong. So you're saying if I have more than 50 people I'll HAVE to have my reception on the beach? I love the beach and all, but I could go for some air conditioning at my reception. And then I wonder what the back up is for bad weather? Sounds like maybe we need to cut our guest list to stay under 50
  3. Hi! What did you all use for the electronic save the date? Did you use a site like evite, celebrations.com, or postmark? I've used evite and celebrations for events, and people don't pay a ton of attention or don't regularly check their email. I was considering a postcard save the date with the wedding website - or both to cover all my bases. Would love to hear what works for others!
  4. We are getting married in Jamaica in 2015 (April or June) and RIU Palace Tropical Bay is one of the 3 we've narrowed it down to. I don't LOVE the location options to have the ceremony. The beach looks like we'll have random dudes in speedos in our pictures and the gazebo would be great if it were just the two of us, but we'll have like 50 people. Also, it not having an on-site disco is a bit of a down side - we'll have some guests who want to dance! But we love Negril and that is the best option in Negril for us (all-inclusive and allows kids). Tough choices!
  5. Hi! I just joined the forum and am grateful for all the advice I've read so far. I'm trying to decide on a resort for April 2015 and having a hard time finding something great that is all-inclusive and allows kids. We will probably have about 50-60 people total. My primary question right now is: Is Iberostar Rose Hall Suites worth the extra cost over Iberostar Rose Hall Beach? From everything I have read there doesn't seem to be a meaningful bump in amentities or "niceness" from one to the other, but there is about a $600 per person difference for a 5 night stay. And reviews for both look very positive. Our other contenders are RIU Palace Tropical Bay and Royalton White Sands. We would LOVE to be in Negril, but the wedding options at the RIU are not getting me very excited. Royalton is well priced and beautiful, but sort of in a remote location in between MoBay and Ochi and I know some of our guests will want to venture off the resort. (I did search the forum for this topic, but I didn't find an answer comparing the 2!) THANKS in advance!
