Congrats!! Very exciting!! We are still finalizing our decision. Had you been looking at other hotels in Mexico? I just read on TripAdvisor that you can see the Royalton under construction on Google World. I checked. It's pretty cool!

Was anyone nervous about booking the hotel before being able to negotiate all the wedding details? We have pricing for the hotel but I am afraid that once I get into the wedding planning side of things I will be very frustrated and unhappy but will not be able to walk away and pick another resort. Maybe I am just approaching this with the wrong attitude but I am afraid that once I book the resort they have me by the $^#&^&*! and I will have very little negotiating power. Our TA says not to worry but she can't guarantee anything. Am I being crazy?

So happy that you have experience to share!! What are your thoughts on evite invitations vs. paper invites? My travel agent is going to send out emails to everyone AND create us a website with all the hotel and our info. Are paper invites also required? I am not trying to be cheap but the paper invites seem redundant. I was thinking of just sending out a handful of paper invites for our parents and older friends who might not be as comfortable with the internet. Thoughts??

Say Yes to the Dress definitely makes you second guess your choice. Everytime I watch it I start wondering if I picked the right dress and then relook at pictures of the gown. So far I fall in love with it again and again.

Did you bring your own candy or was it supplied by the hotel?

it does sounds very heavy to lug all the way there. On the other hand, it is very expensive to have the hotel organize a candy bar. If your hotel can offer a candy bar will they make a fuss if you bring your own candy?

I really like the puzzle idea. I have seen a few websites with customized wooden puzzles that can reassembled once the pieces are signed and then framed.

Does anyone know the rules around the price drop? My TA is talking about the price drop only applying if there are enough rooms and seats available at the time of the drop.

What is the rule for paying for the bridemaid's dresses? Also I read that we are suppose to pay for the MOH's trip. Is this true? My sister is my MOH and I dont think that she expects that.

Funny to see this as a topic! My FI and I have been talking about this since we were engaged. I want to have dressy attire. I find that it looks so amazing with the lush backdrop of the tropics. I see pictures of people getting married in shorts and untucked short sleeve shirts and i find that it looks so sloppy. I dont want to be walking around in a beautiful wedding dress and spend almost $15K on a wedding to then look back at the pictures and see everyone looking slopping. Additionally, we are getting married in August because his family has many small children in school so we can only go during the summer. At first I wanted a full suit but we are probably going to settle on dress pants with a vest and long sleeve shirt with the sleeves neatly rolled up. We can take a few pictures with the suit jacket on or flung over his shoulder. We plan to have a very short ceremony and focus on the reception.. party party!!

If anyone has information about weddings "the extra costs" can you please share them with me? We need to make a decision about the resort so we can invite our guests but I am nervous without knowing the wedding options. eek!! my email is [email protected]

Has anyone received any information about wedding packages for this resort? It looks like it would be a perfect hotel for us but I am nervous to book without knowing the wedding packages.

oh so many choices!!! We are still undecided. We found a great travel agent who is going to walk us through the whole process but there are so many countries and hotels. I really wanted Negril because of the beach but the only choices seem to be the Riu hotels but both seem dated. Our travel agent mentioned Royalton Sands which is a newer hotel in Montego Bay. It seems to have mixed reviews and everyone is shocked with the nickel and dimming but that seems to be the same at every resort. Recently we started looking more at other countries. We were engaged in St Maarten and wanted to do the wedding there. There are very good flight hotel packages from Canada but the hotel doesn't have wedding packages.You have to organize everything via outside vendors. Just inquiring into basic details about the reception dinner made our heads explode. So... our search continues..

Our travel agent mentioned it to us. The pictures we have see of the future design looks excellent. I wonder what kind of wedding packages they will offer...
