  1. I love dollar tree! I saw a pin on Pinterest about her OOT bags and she got them from dollar tree and ironed on her own design. The website doesn't have that style tote bag though. Hoping if I go I into one they will have them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I wonder if I'll have to worry about this? I'm getting married in Mobay in October 2015. Hmm...maybe something to put in my OOT bags. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. We decided to not have a bridal party. I'm already asking people to spend money on travel I didn't think it was fair to also add the stress of being a bridesmaid or MOH into the mix. Also my fiancée has 4 brothers and 4 best friends like brothers and I just don't have enough girls to match or even close enough to match. And I had a close friend go through a bad experience with her wedding in Florida where a lot of the bridesmaids dropped out at the last minute, she ended up not having a bridal party. I just didn't want to deal with the stress of it. We're trying to make this process as stress free as possible Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. We have never been to the resort we booked. We based our decision off of reviews, pictures, etc. I based my opinion from a lot of the reviews on here and oyster.com has tons of pics to look at. Also the location and their packages played a role as well. I'm confident it will be amazing as everyone online keeps saying how gorgeous it is. I'm excited! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'm using a wedding coordinator/TA from moderndestinationweddings.com named Rhonda and she's awesome! Super nice and emails me with updates on flight availability. She will be handling the booking for my guests and booking our travel and honeymoon as well! We told her ideas for our honeymoon and she looked up resorts for us and gave us great ideas. It's free! We only had to put down a $100 deposit - which goes towards our travel expenses. Exciting! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Well I have some time before our wedding but I've already started my weight loss journey. I officially started the beginning of this month but I started intermittently in end of April. So let's say since May I've lost 15 lbs. I'm basically just eating right - no junk food, soda. Lots of fruits and veggies. Counting calories helps me stay on track. I have an app for my iPhone that's amazing called myfitnesspal. I can scan foods or search for them. I can also add exercise into it! I try to work out as often as I can, it's been probably 1-2x/week right now because I'm still on night shift. When I switch to day shift next month it will be much easier to work out more often. I weigh myself weekly to help me stay motivated. Seeing the number go down keeps me on track And also picturing how I want to look on the beach is a huge motivator as well! 7. I mailed out my save the dates last week and our wedding is 10.24.15. I'm going to be mailing out our invitations in the spring I think. Maybe like march? That way people will have the travel agent info and they can start booking ASAP. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I got attachments in my email regarding the choices for restaurants and ceremony locations etc. is that what you're looking for @@CourtneyTX? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I booked Iberostar Rose Hall Suites and their pricing was actually reasonable. I just went onto cheapcaribbean.com to get ideas for around the time of my wedding next year and it wasn't bad at all. I was gonna go with RIU MoBay at first because it's so affordable but I wasn't impressed with the grounds and I read some bad reviews that it's so close to the airport and an older resort. 10. I haven't picked my dress yet but I'm obsessed with this dress. I hope it looks good on me and it's not too heavy for my jamaica wedding http://www.morilee.com/bridals/julietta/3147
  11. My biggest stress since we started the planning was picking the resort and photographer. Thankfully we have those taken care of! Now I'm just looking online for dresses and accessories, hair ideas, etc. My main goal right now is to lose weight before I start wedding dress shopping in January Not really a stress, I've been staying on track and weighing myself weekly, and seeing that number go down every week is a huge motivator! I know once the date gets closer I will be stressing about people booking their travel. I'm just anxious to get the exact guest count and have everyone booked so I can plan the details of the wedding. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. I am obsessed with lace! That dress is gorgeous! And soooo cheap! Thanks for sharing! I definitely want my dress to be lace or have some lace in it - hopefully it looks good on me
  13. Although we are having a non traditional destination wedding - I do want some traditions in our wedding/marriage. I never questioned what I would do when we got married (we've been together 10+ years) - I always knew I would take his last name. Now that it is becoming reality and the wedding is next year - I have been thinking about losing my last name. I am 100% Greek, and when people hear my last name they always ask what my ethnicity is. So I will be losing that. But honestly, even if i change my name - people will still know my ethnicity and our children will know about my culture and my fiancees. Hyphenating my name would just be too long and I love my last name because it's different and clearly Greek, but it was never really a question in my mind - I just always had it in my head that when I got married my last name would change. My fiancee wants me to take his name and feels strongly about it - thankfully I already wanted to, otherwise it probably would have been an issue, lol!
  14. Honestly, we are doing what's best for us. We don't want to wait an extra 3 months to get our marriage license from Jamaica and then have to figure out how to make it legal here after. I'd rather get it done here in a quiet way - I am hoping we don't even need to say vows or anything at the courthouse. I don't want to take away from our wedding in Jamaica because that will be our wedding day in our eyes. In Jamaica, the fees are minimal, so it's pretty much the same as doing the courthouse. We just don't want to have to wait forever to get our legal stuff done after getting home. Especially because our wedding is in October so I want to get all the legal stuff done before the year is over. You don't need to tell anyone you made it legal at home. I have heard other people on here say at the symbolic ceremony you still sign some kind of certificate - so people won't really know the difference. It's just better to not tell anyone - I don't want people to make snide remarks or feel that our wedding isn't "real" or whatever.
  15. Does anyone know if you can get your marriage license in your state and then bring it to your destination wedding and have the minister or whoever sign it there? Or do you HAVE to have a ceremony at home to make it legal? I would love to just be able to get the marriage license and not have to have a courthouse ceremony, I don't want to take away from the DW in any way.
  16. My friend got married in Ft Lauderdale (family & friends are from Boston) and she lives in Houston. She had her closest friends she's known for years back out at the last second (and they were the bridesmaids). She ended up not having a bridal party and is no longer speaking to some of those friends. DW definitely shows you people's true colors! Having heard about her guests backing out - I came into the planning expecting people to back out. Hopefully it won't be anyone I really can't picture getting married without! We are inviting around 60 people, so hopefully we get at least half that number actually go! But however many people end up going - I know it will be an amazing time and I can't wait to marry my best friend
  17. Haven't decided yet. Nor have we talked about it. I like the idea of spending the night before with my friends, but we also live together so it would be weird not sleeping with him beside me. I'll have to think about this one...
  18. I figure since I may not wear a veil, I wanted to keep some of the traditional wedding stuff. So I am going to definitely try and get one
  19. When we started the wedding planning process and decided to do it in Jamaica we had every intention of doing the legal wedding there. THEN when I found out it takes almost 3 months to get your marriage certificate mailed to you - I said forget that! I don't want to wait an additional 3 months to go through all the legal stuff - changing my name, etc. We have been together for 11 years, so an additional 3 months probably wouldn't hurt. But I HATE waiting to do important stuff. I like to just get it out of the way. So I want to start the name changing process as soon as we get back home. We won't tell anyone of course and our anniversary will be our wedding in Jamaica. I just have to look into what the courthouse ceremony entails here in Houston.
  20. I saw some earrings like that on Pinterest but it didn't lead me to Etsy! I love the earrings on that website. I definitely favorited it for when I have my dress. Hopefully they complement it
  21. I have really long hair and I am avoiding chopping it until after the wedding (I have chopped it off twice and it takes 2 years to grow back to my current length) BUT my hair is thin and doesn't hold styles well. I was wanting it half up/down - but I may end up with a low side bun type of style as the model in the dress I found online that I love has it that way with a flower and it looks perfect My hair also gets really sweaty when I get hot so I don't want to be worrying how my hair looks in pics when I am trying to party and have fun!
  22. I think I will decide on the veil once I have the dress. If it completes the look with the dress, then I will go for it - depending on price of course too. But I also really love the hairstyles I've seen with flowers in them for destination weddings. Has anyone seen hairstyles with a flower and veil?
  23. I am having the same dilemma. I am from Boston but we moved to Houston in August. I was also worried about what to do when it came time for dress shopping as all my family and friends are back home in MA. I have one friend from Boston who moved here a year before me, so I could take her, but I feel like for something so special I want my closest friends and family. So I have decided to just fly home around January or February to go dress shopping with my mom since we are doing a destination wedding she won't have much else to look forward to with the planning process I will probably go try on dresses and pick one, and if they allow me to order it and have it shipped here - I will. Otherwise I will have to pick the dress, find it at a bridal shop here, and order it here. I do sort of want to go dress shopping on my own for the first time - but I am wanting to lose a bit more weight before I go shopping
  24. I am definitely thinking about getting two dresses, even if I don't change into it for the reception - I will want a short one for the after party in the club as I like to dance and tend to get hot when you add liquor to the mix
  25. Thanks for your suggestion! We actually already booked Misha Earle! Very excited Her photos look amazing and her prices are good!
