  1. Oh great thank you @@kmk2016. I'm glad I'm not the only one planning so far ahead. What vendors did you book and do you have any recommendations? I have a hefty outside vendor fee so I want to be sure they are great.
  2. Yea sounds good, but since our date isn't till June 2016 I'm worried they may not be there.
  3. I've been thinking about having an AHR. However we chose a DW because we would have at least 200 people at our wedding.. YIKES for that bill. I created a secret facebook group for my guests so that I can send them emails and updates. My mom started adding people to this group. Apparently theyre family and "should" be invited. We were really only inviting immediate family members and friends.... Ie. people we know. So after a back and forth with my mom. I say well just get your list and send me the addresses. Now, my mom is saying that she wants to host an AHR.... WHATEVER! At this point I really don't care, I just hope people dont see it as an alternative to our DW. Final payments for my June wedding are due in April. I will tell her that this AHR cannot be announced until after the required payments are paid. I will be willing to have something for the 4th of July or on my grandparents wedding anniversary in August. It's just funny that when family was pressuring us to not have a DW, we said we really can't afford paying for everyone... no one volunteered to help.
  4. We just sent out our first batch of save the dates (underestimated how many we would need). Some people told me that they booked their room or are planning to do it soon. We are using a BDW TA. I am just wondering if you receive updates from the TA as guests book their rooms on some kind of basis like monthly or something. Or do I have to ask? Thank you
  5. I would like to kn ow this as well. I think I am going to book Octavio though
  6. For 2015 The Same Benefits Pretty Much apply. After you reach 75 nights you get unlimited private events for up to 3 hours and 1 free room and upgrade for every 10 nights based on the average room nights. You actually make out better with the new promotion
  7. the beach is extremely small. I guess there will be more space if they move the lounge chairs. There is also some beach space to the left of the resort. The beach near the resort really wasnt great, we walked further down for a few minutes to nicer beach. The beach in front of the resort has a pier and many boats outside, I didnt smell fuel like many TA reviews say. But there is some black plastic thing going along the beach in the water and the water up to waist height is very sandy and therefore looks kind of brown. The beach in front of the resort is also very rocky and seemed to be seaweed haven. I did see them digging holes to bury the seaweed but it seemed inevitable. There is a beach club next door, they told us they close at 11, we didnt go back to check. There is also a sports bar on the resort that has a very club feel to it. It's very close to nightlife. Coco Maya is a beach club downtown and will do private events, the place is beautiful. PS. Wednesdays are ladys night at the club, so women are discounted to free at many clubs and bars. Ladies drink free at Fat Tuesdays on Tuesdays
  8. We just got back from the reef coco beach and absolutely loved our stay. We liked it way better than Riu palace riviera maya What questions do you have? The Italian and Mexican restaurants were delicious! The Miramar buffet was okay. We really just went for breakfast and ate lunch at the pool. Now the pool snack was delicious. Sandwiches, ribs, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, fries, salsas, guacamole, chicken, chicken wings. I want to go back just for the snack. Our room was good, smaller than Riu, no jacuzzi tub, but fine. Channel's were premium and in English. We watched alot of hbo. Staff is phenomenal. They have a ballroom used for shows and a stage, it's a nice size. They didn't charge us for my fiancé's birthday cake and the matre d at Miramar said he had a gift for him at lunch time, but we left that day. I was surprised he knew because I made the cake arrangements with concierge. We will definitely go back there. Cab to 5th Ave was $5. We walked around the neighborhood. This is a nice resort and not overwhelming
  9. @@tygrrlily maybe you can make the door hangers with the slit on the side?
  10. So, I have a friend that is a photographer and I would love for her to do our photos. It will be cheaper for us to pay for her stay at Moon Palace and flight than to hire someone in Cancun. If we were to hire her, she would be given a free vacation. Would we still have to pay her for the services or is it an exchange? Also, I was at an event with my childhood pastor over the weekend. He said he will be waiting for us to call him for the wedding. I told him that we were getting married in Cancun and he said he can always use a vacation. We are having a symbollic ceremony, but I want it to be religious with prayer. Now, if we were to ask the pastor to marry us, what are the formalities for that as in cost? I know the ministers through the resort should be familiar with symbolic weddings, but I don't want it to lack spirituality. Any suggestions?
  11. We would like to book DJ Discomovil for our June 2016 wedding but arent sure if it's too early. Like what if the vendors arent working there anymore or something. I would like to rent equipment from PSAV or JSAV to hae my cousin DJ since he knows how we like t he music but A. I dont want to put him to work on vacation B. It will cost just about the same to rent the equipment and give my cousin something as it would to hire a DJ Thoughts?
  12. My hips and thighe are wide and mermaid is the only style I like on me @@jackielemman The mori lee 5108 was on my list
  13. I stayed at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya in December. Beautiful resort great food. Located in a private community. We saw a few weddings at the gazebo. We weren't completely satisfied with our room, reviews on travel advisor are true. So we were considering Riu Palace Mexico for our wedding, friends that stayed there had no complaints it's about 6 resorts down from RPRM. But we found Palace resorts then we debated between Moon palace and Playacar Palace. We originally chose Playacar Palace since we know the area, it is literally on 5th Avenue right next to senor frogs. We visited it and it smells amazing like a spa, service was great, you don't even have to open a door, perfect location for us, but it may be too small for our amount guests. So we chose moon palace. I have heard good things about iberostar as well. It all boils down to what you are looking for, if you want more group benefits, stlye etc. The travel agent we are using is Teresa from Wright she's with BDW. She's pretty awesome and the best that we have spoken to RPRM wedding venue at the gazebo was not private at all, it's right outside of the gym/spa and in the area of the pool. The pool is very lively with a DJ and activities. Rain location is a terrace, which is the outside eating area for the buffet. Im not sure of RPM weddiNg locations. I'd really recommend a Palace resort, I'm expecting a group of your size as well and Palace and Hard rock had the best group benefits. I looked in other countries for different resorts and couldn't find anyone that topped them.
  14. Is anyone having a reception in the ballroom? My wedding will be in june and we want our guests to be in the air conditioning. We are using the Bugambilias gazebo for the ceremony. Is there a ballroom close that you'd recommend that doesn't appear to be dated. I know playacar palace ballroom has draping already do any have draping already at moon? Also is there a terrace that is private and not by a gazebo/wedding location that I can use for the welcome party? I plan to use the dinner reservation for the rehearsal dinner with bridal party and our close family members. Is there a restaurant that you recommend?
  15. I personally would not have asked sis in law, unless you guys are really close. I am including his 2 sisters as bridesmaids and my brother will be one of his groomsmen and we are leaving it at that. In laws are not a shoe in to be in the bridal party, even some relatives can be excluded. His sisters spouse is not in our wedding because he is just that, his sister's spouse. We have no other history. Don't feel bad about not including everyone. Your bridal party should be those who you have relied on in the darkest and happiest of all hours.
  16. Yes please take as many pictures as you can we weren't able to visit moon palace, but did visit Playacar palace and I didn't even think to take pictures. It just smelled so wonderful there.
  17. Thank you everyone. I do love the dress in blush, but i tried a dress on in blush and I wasn't as in love with it as I thought. I didn't feel much like a bride
  18. I think gold. If theres an hm near you they have many gold jewelry options
  19. @@calgarybride2015 thanks for the recommendation. Now to find a dry cleaners I trust
  20. @@calgarybride2015 thank you so much. It does have a corset back so I'm very grateful for that. The dress is a sample and i did see some dirt on it. I was told to have it cleaned and preserved by my aunt. I'm not sure why. But my wedding is 21 months out. I plan to get a wally garment bag for it. I wonder if I can just have it dry cleaned first. I'm going to contact the seamstress and see what she advises. Ok so here's a pic. Now that I have my dream dress I can plan the rest of the wedding.
  21. Hello Ladies, If you are in the Philly area, Baranette's Bridalin Willow Grove is closing. I fell in love with the Maggie Sottero Divina a year ago when I was helping my coworker look for dresses, I pointed it out to her and little did I know she loved it and that was her dress. I knew I wanted that dress whenever my day came until I heard how much it cost then add on alterations, tax, etc. I said that it's too out of my budget. So now it's my turn. I didn't plan on looking for dresses until June or July about a year before my wedding. But I have been looking online and tried on dresses at David's bridal to see what I liked for my body type. I started settling for other dresses that ALL had a similar look to the Divina such as the Maggie Sottero Primrose and some Mori Lee dresses. I completely crossed the Divina off my list due to price. So earlier this week my friend/bridesmaid told me that Baranette's was going out of business and the whole store was on sale. So I called and asked if they had the Maggie Sottero Primrose, they said no (second store I called that said they didn't have it, first store Bijou said they sent tit to there jersey store because it wasn't selling) then I asked if they had Divina they said it was sold. So I didn't even want to go, take this 45 minute drive, and they don't have what I want. Let's fast forward a few events. We get to Baranette's a few minutes before closing time (the owners are very friendly and I am going to call and thank them again on monday) despite our arrival time we weren't rushed. I knew exactly what style I had in mind (anything to top Divina, this dress I fell in love with a year ago). So I tell them what I'm looking for and me, the consultants, and my friend are searching the racks. The first rack I open, I see this dress in ivory, with a beaded belt attached and I said this looks familiar. My friend says try it on. The first dress I put on. I get it on, get to the mirror and am beyond excited ITS THE MAGGIE SOTTERO DIVINA. Now I didn't have tears and all that but the dress looked like it was made for my body with some hemming of course (I'm 4'11). I couldn't believe it, the dress I loved for a year and was comparing every other dress too was in my grasp. Now it was time to talk price, the dress was a size 12. Which is about a size 8 in street size, it was one size too small for me. And we talked possible alterations since this is an off the rack purchase. However my wedding is in 21 months and I am planning to lose my baby weight and college weight hoping to get back to a size 6. Which God willing the dress will then only have to be hemmed. I couldn't pass on the dress. Total cost $1,050.00!!!!!! For Maggie Sottero Divina I'm still in shock. my coworker paid close to $3,000 after tax and alterations. I know I will lose the weight, because that was already my plan to lose by May. So I can't tell anyone I bought the dress, I plan to have it preserved until I'm ready for fittings or should I just get it dry cleaned and put in a really good garment bag? I have to go dress shopping with my mom and I want her to love this dress as much as I do, I secretly think she'll be an emotional wreck and will love everything. So I have to find stores near her that carry this dress so she can see me in it. Well that's my story. I'll post pics whenever I find my phone
  22. You can have your ceremony in the Chapel if you are not Catholic. I was told the fee is $850 US. Unless you pick the Chapel wedding package, then it's included. We are having a 6pm ceremony in june at the Bugambilias gazebo
  23. I've been in contact with my onsite coordinator, Leidi. She responds to all my emails and answers my questions. I hope she will still be there when we get married.
