What's the difference? I can't seem to find a straight answer. We are planning to be legally married in the states and then having the wedding and celebration in mexico. But I'm not sure if there's a difference between the two options. Will there be an officiant at a symbolic ceremony? I will be getting married at Playacar Palace. Thank you

Oh yea. I don't see that bothering me. A friend of mine had a beach wedding here in the states and it was really random but extremely beautiful. It was on a public beach with plenty of sunbathers. Everyone was respectful and turned their chairs around to face the ceremony. It was a show for them and they clapped and whistled with us. I guess unless your resort has a private beach that's the only way around it. When I Stayed At RIU IN December The Beaches Were Packed So I'm NOTE Sure How They Will Set Up For Weddings

Hello, we are making our list for vendors to meet with during our visit. I envision a very rustic chic beach wedding. I intend on using the bridal bouquet and grooms boutenire from the resort. I was also considering having faux rose boutes for the groomsmen (but I'm thinking we could skip this). I would like my bridesmaids bouquets to be made out of baby's breath only. Is there an affordable florist who won't charge me am arm and a leg for this arrangement. I'm also willing to just order the flowers in bulk and have each girl make their own arrangement and tie with ribbon. I was thinking I can bring some vases and use their bouquets as center pieces as well.

Palace Resorts Room Blocks
TheBHolders replied to TheBHolders's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Hello @@laura yes Teresa does offer the best plans and rates. Which Palace are you planning for and when is your wedding? I chose Playacar, but with their 4 night minimum for guests it might be too much, I am now considering Beach. However, we love Playa del Carmen. We are shooting to get the free room nights and unlimited events as we would like to honeymoon in another country. I wonder since we are planning two years in advance if I block 15 rooms and if I am able to add on to the room block if they book faster than expected. I'm not sure @@kmk2016 I haven't looked up room blocks on this site, only knowledge I have is what I have been told by travel agents I spoke with. My coworker is a TA and said each person pays their own $150 deposit and a room block is not required. However, she has a VERY slow response time and I can see some harsh words being exchanged down the line, so I think it's best to save our friendship. Plus all though I'm sure she could use the money, I would rather invite her as a guest and not just be her customer because she has been really great to me over the years. -
Are Engagement Pictures Really Necessary?
TheBHolders replied to TinkerSofi's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
This is what I am trying to figure out now. The photo in my Avi was taken right after he proposed. I love it this picture of us. But, I also still want an engagement picture.. But, honestly those photos arent going to go anywhere but our website and save the dates. I have some friends that take photos and I would have them do it. But, I will still have to pay them and I am focused on saving money right now. Deep down I feel that we will have many opportunities for these photos and that I shouldnt try to stay in these wedding trends. We were fortunate to have a proposal in front of family and friends who recorded and took pictures of the moment. I am so up in the air about this, especially since I found a coupon code on vistaprint for 4.99 for 50 postcards. I just don't want to be disappointed and regret my decision later. -
Hello Ladies, From your experience is their anyway around putting an upfront deposit for room blocks? I want to hold 20 rooms and wasnt planning to put $100 a room on my credit card. I understand the deposit goes towards my stay, but I am planning for a 2016 wedding. I have a coworker who is a TA and said that through her each individual is responsible for their own $150 deposit, and one told me that I have 3 weeks to pay the room block deposit and anyone who pays their $150 deposit within those 3 weeks is deducted from my room block deposit. I was also told that i would pay a deposit of $100 per room for the room block which would go towards our stay and then our guests will have to pay a deposit of one night. I am just utterly confused on why there are so many differences. Also, each TA has provided me with different rates as well. This seems to be the most stressful thing for me along with all my family saying to wed home to get gifts and money . I am set to marry at Playacar Palace. Honestly, all this room block stuff has me considering other resorts and I definitely dont want neither I or my guests to go broke over this wedding. I have already decided which TA I would like to work with, but I am just trying to figure out if there is a way to save money. I am working with Teresa from Wright/vacations4less

Yes I love Playa del Carmen. Only downfall is Playacar has a 4 night minimum. So I'm starting to consider beach palace. Moon palace is very nice as well but we are in our 20s so being so isolated isn't what we're looking for I decided on Palace because they seemed to have the most to offer for what I was looking for. I love RIU Resorts but my friends vacation there on a regular so I wanted the place for our wedding to be special

Hello All, Today I officially booked my date for June 17, 2016 at Playacar Palace. I know it's far out but I'm a planner. I chose the complimentary ceremony package and am planning on bringing ivory organza chair sashes for the ceremony. I am a very crafty person and a real DIYer. I am working on bridesmaid boxes and I'll post pics when I'm done. I plan to purchase items for the big week little by little on sale with coupons. I have a 6:00 ceremony scheduled but I feel we probably should do 5:00. Any tips, suggestions, words of advice, or general conversation would be greatly appreciated.

TheBHolders replied to superlawyer87's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
I was considering now jade. But I am unclear on the costs for the reception. Where are the costs and what is covered? -

I can't see pictures yet, but I would love to see the labels. I am making gift bags full of stuff for the ladies and was going to add tumblers with a bow. I have labels that say bridesmaid and I was going to have journals bonded at staples. But the wine bottles are good and ill use the journals for those that can't drink. I was trying to come up with ways to ask the groomsmen. A few of them aren't yet drinking age. I was thinking he can use tequila and groomsmen shot glasses. I'm not sure what to do for the younger guys

Hello My fiancé and I stayed at Riu Palace Riviera Maya in December and we are planning a DW in Playa. I am having the hardest time choosing a resort. I had my heart set on Playacar Palace but the price may be too expensive for my guests. I saw a few weddings at RPRM and didn't like them. I am also unsure of how their receptions work for a private event...more so the cost. If anyone has any insight on pricing and extra fees for a reception that would be great. Also if anyone has any suggestions for nice family friendly and affordable resorts in this area for our wedding that would be great as we'll. Thanks

I am looking at Playacar palace and Moon palace for my 2016 wedding. However, I'm afraid Moon would be perfect, but I'm not sure if it will be too isolated for my guests who will want to be closer to things to do that Playacar will provide. I am interested in the complimentary ceremony package and should have about 60-70 people. Now, all of there packages include 30 people. What is the cost for additional people over the 30? Also what about the reception? Are there additional costs? I have been in contact with a resort representative via email, but she has not responded to my question regarding additional fees and it has been over a week. Any advice and input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello, I was thinking of ordering luggage tags and filling them with business cards for our OOT bags. I plan to order plain paper bags with handles and stick a label on it with our wedding date. (I am a planner and DIY queen, so ample planning time for me is imperitive). So, I was thinking why order luggage tags, 85% of them will go in the trash. So, I figure make my own business cards and print them on card stock, laminate, cut, hole punch, add some type of string or just get a luggage tag loop and wala! I am still brains storming, but I thought it would be cool if there are other DIY brides out there and we can swap ideas. Happy Planning

Hello, My fiance and I are visiting Playa del Carmen in September and I would like for us to have some engagement photos taken during our stay at The Reef. We are just looking for simple photos to use on our wedding website and save the dates, not a whole fancy engagement session. Just some "make you wish you were here" photos to show the beauty of Mexico. I contacted a few photographers in the area for photography prices. I was wondering if anyone has done an engagement photo session. If you did, who did you book? And how were the prices, if you are willing to share. I was quoted $800 by one place which I think is way tooo out of budget for what I'm looking for. Thank you

We stayed at RPRM in December, food is great, service amazing. The rooms... Meh. Mold on everything and very strong mildew smell. The resort is beautiful though. However, my room always felt damp and I had a hard time sleeping on damp sheets. I saw two weddings at the gazebo... They were small and intimate, but the gazebo is RIGHT next to the pool. And very noisy from the pool music and activities. It's also next to the gym/spa so there will be passerbys. I didn't see any beach weddings. I was looking into Riu Palace Mexico, people I know that's stayed there has had no complaints. Bit for my wedding I voted Playacar Palace I was also looking for fees for playacar palace. I'm unable to find any topics on them. Especially the fees for a wedding over 30 people. I know the outside vendor fees are 800

Hello, I have been in contact with a representative from Palace resorts in regards to my wedding at Playacar Palace. I haven't heard back from her and I am trying to find out what their extra fees would be for guests over 30. I plan to do the complimentary package and bring my own decorations for the ceremony and reception. If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
