Hi brides, Just an FYI, my reception was indoors due to "super heavy wind". What I later found out was ACTUALLY was a cinco de mayo party that I was not told about by my coordinator. I was supposed to be by the gazebo, or infinity terrace I think? When you see the pictures of the resort the infinity terrace is literally right by the main pool, and you cannot see the ocean because it is dark, but there is soft lighting. In my opinion the best place would be the garden or the sugar terrace (by gazebo I believe). The indoor option was not nice (very dated ugly colorful carpet). Luckily my guests are drinkers and love to dance and party haha. We made the most of it, but I did cry when I saw the ONLY option for an indoor reception was this hideous room. I wish I would have fought for a tent or something to happen, but to be honest they weren't going to accommodate my wishes without a major cost to me! They led me believe the reason for the move indoors was the wind, but I clearly saw the fiesta happening for resort guests RIGHT where my wedding was going to be. My point is, make sure you ask if there are any resort events happening on the same day as your wedding because that will take precedent and they will lie to you! However my guests made the most of it and Claudia made it beautiful, it just wasn't my dream reception in Mexico.

They really do not start getting the ball rolling until 3 months out. That is when things started to fall into place. They do so many weddings that they cannot give priority so early from what I understand. Trust me I know this is a frustrating process and I was a mess with not knowing. But keep in mind it does all work out. They really do know what they are doing. When you get there as well they show you options etc and you can change prety much everything and anything if you do not like it. I do know they have a new coordinator named Alejandra so I am sure she will contact you soon. I have had to email for something forgotten there, and she responded from the spmweddings email within 24 hours. Good luck!

Hey thanks everyone!! I got my group rate from a travel agent in Canada. Does anyone know what the beaches are like in Playa Mujeres?? Are they similar to Cancun with the beautiful blue water? Calm ocean? We are travelling May 3-10 and the resort opens in Nov 2014. Here is a link to view the property http://www.secretsresorts.com/playa-mujeres It should be beautiful. I just booked this brand new resort - in fact it isn't even open yet!!! Secrets are known for their 5* luxury resorts and I am so hopeful that I will have the wedding of my dreams here. My guests got an amazing group rate so it will be once in a lifetime!! Any other brides out there for this resort? Other Secrets brides?
