  1. @@julianow ohhh don't keep it real on here, nobody wants to hear your real feelings! We wanna hear about your monogrammed OTT bags!!! :/ Actually, there was a negative review on this website that was about my particular vendor and then later that day the review was gone. Posters remorse maybe, I'm not sure. My vendor didn't deny when I asked him about it so I considered his integrity and ended up hiring him and valuing his stand up guy character. I know for an absolute fact many of the vendors in particular photographers, offered me a lower rate in exchange for a good review. Nothing crazy huge, maybe 10%. How that all works out in the end - I'm unsure. My photographer took my budget and needs and made up a package for me without any mention of a review "deal". I started a post about a photographer and some ppl made me feel as if it was unheard of for me to be able to hire a photographer in my budget. Like I was dreaming. Keep fishing around here long enough and you will find the right photographer, reviews aside even. Good luck!
  2. A lot of photographers offer a discount to clients who log onto this website and a few other and give a 5 star review.
  3. What a cool feature. Sorry I can't help but I wanted to tell you that's it's pretty cool.
  4. @@TammyWright a week before your wedding? That's cause for a slight panic attack. Wowzers! That's awesome someone came to the rescue! Ok I think I'll sit down and make that document, Better be safe! Is it summer yet?
  5. Thanks for your kind words. @IvanLuckiePhotography@TAkathy I talked to my baker who knows the WC and from what I gather she just up and left and moved to Canada. I will take your advice and listen to my gut. I'm happy it happened now and not weeks before my wedding. As of now they don't have a WC so I hope they hire someone reputable and soon! Fingers crossed!!!! Thanks again!
  6. @@IvanLuckiePhotography By performing, like mixing and MC? I'm not sure!
  7. @@IvanLuckiePhotography I can not believe that in 500 weddings you have NVR seen a dj playing music during cocktail hour. Maybe not a full on dance party/MC but really? We are having ours play NY/MIAMI chill lounge music during cocktail hour and take care of music during dinner. Just can't believe u have never seen it. Makes me feel like I'm doing something odd.
  8. So.... Found out that our on site wedding coordinator who has been fabulous up until now, is no longer with the beach club. She has handled every detail up until now. I should be more stressed, but I'm not really. We've secured all vendors, dining options, etc. My only questions are 1.) has anyone had this happen to them? 2.) is there any sort of advice you can give me from EXPERIENCE on what I need to do once the new coordinator takes over to ensure there is less chance of gaps. Ok thanks
  9. We are doing a traditional ceremony but seating is circle of love, we are having family/friends pass rings for blessing, hand on heart for exchange of vowels. We kindly rejected any idea of a sand ceremony. I would have liked to have a partial Greek Orthodox wedding, will miss out on my crowns, it's ok though :/
  10. I'm just gonna throw this out there. My DJ gave me a discount that he doesn't normally do bc I hired him a yr in advance for a weekday and well I flat out asked him for a discount. He said yes. So feel free to contact him to do the same. His normal rate is 800 for 5 hours. When I told him I needed ceremony music on the beach and told him I planned on using a Bose sound link ( we've used on the beach and the waves wash out the sound) he said that would not be a good idea and that he would set up a speaker on the beach and play my exact ceremony music, and that way he could cross fade songs according to our timing etc... He didn't want more money. Said he would move the speaker off of the sand back to cocktail area Etc. So if you aren't committed to a DJ look up - Audio Cancun. You might not get the same deal as me but he will work with you and take care of speaker placement, ceremony, cocktail, and reception music. Communication is excellent too. I was so stressed trying to find the perfect vendor to meet my exact needs and spent loads on research, probably at least 3 months or more just on a DJ and Audio Cancun all the way.
  11. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. You can never be sure what's going to happen in situations like a destination wedding. You have got to set yourself up for any situation by protecting your investment - your wedding. Everyone should be able to have someone to travel with to attend a destination wedding. Everyone. Guests for singles are a must. I couldn't tell by your post if you said your single friends aren't allowed to bring a guest or not. You can't have the same expectations inviting someone to a destination wedding alone as you would in your hometown. You can never go by anyone's word when it comes to destination weddings.it was really nice and super thoughtful to go out of your way to secure their rooms just on their word, but realistically that was a potential disaster waiting to happen. Also, as much as it hurts your feelings you can not be angry that someone who makes good money doesn't want to spend their good money to come to your destination wedding. It happened to me, with my sister and her husband; I get it. Concentrate on the people who really want to be there and let go of the ones that can't come for whatever reason. And I would not chase down anyone for an RSVP card at all. You have some many things to coordinate and finalize, you certainly don't need the headache. If they haven't mailed back an RSVP, or however you have it arranged to be collected then I wouldn't consider them coming. If they have scheduled their travel arrangements but not sent back the card I wouldn't see the need to do anything. Make the dining choice for them and if their not happy, it's not your concern. Your getting married! Your getting married and you and your fiancé are going to be so lost in each other you won't care who is there! Stay positive.
  12. I haven't read an replies to OP so I may be dup. Bad idea all together. Find one you like and try it on, in advance, on time. You might be surprised the one you thought you loved, you don't love on. Go to an experienced wedding shop with well seasoned associates. Good luck!
  13. @@Mrsktobe I do like MVP hairstyling, but the makeup for me isn't really speaking to me. I'm sure she made you look beautiful though! Sarah Garnier has been awesome at answering any questions, got a great vibe from her. Zoe Elizabeth's work looks good too and her price is the same as Sarah's but Zoe will do airbrush for what Sarah charges for regular application. I've never had airbrush, and I know it's not for everyone's skin type, but I think my skin it would be the best choice. And I hear it lasts longer. I was hoping someone has had experience with either of the two artists. Thanks!!
  14. Good idea about tipping upfront. I have had an overall good experience tipping upfront in Mexico from the times I have been. I bet the upfront tip would be an extra incentive! I don't think I will give the waiters and bartender extra tips I looked over our food and bev spreadsheet and for 30 guests it is about 750 USD added on. Plus I'll have to tip other vendors. But i did want to show gratitude for my on site wedding coordinator at beach club. She rocks! Thanks for the ideas! And I'm not even the OP!
  15. Good question! I'm not sure either. My plate per guest is like 60 USD + 20% gratuity and my drink package per person is the same. As you can see that's about 25 bucks per head for gratuity. Who the gratuity goes to - I'm not sure. Would be nice to know the way to handle this.
  16. @@TheBHolders I'm staying right off 5th street. I didn't know there was a mac store there
  17. Anyone know of a decent makeup artist in the PDC area? If so can you upload a photo with your recommendation? Thanks!!!
  18. Oh perfect! And from what hear the wine selection has significantly improved over the last few years in Mexico! Well then I would give the day of wedding. It might be that you haul it around a few more days but I think it's worth it. They will appreciate receiving it on your wedding day.
  19. Tough call! I wouldn't worry to much about it! I know it's easy for me to say but honestly, I would give it to them before you go. Much easier considering you have wine. If you change your mind about the gift (something easier transported) , then I would give it to them the day of. I think you can bring 3 or 4 750ml bottles thru customs but I would worry about weight or the bottles possibly breaking and staining materials. Either way you cant go wrong!
  20. Looks really pretty! Good job! I know burlap is one of the most inexpensive cloth you can buy at a craft store. Like really really affordable. Lace however; can get expensive. I'll upload a photo of my table design so far. The centerpieces are large candle sticks that I'm going to anchor floral foam to and fill to the max with flowers. I've been practicing with the $2 dollar manager specials at the grocery store. My finished centerpieces will look a lot better, I hope! Play around a little bit n see what fabrics you can find on sale and such! Good job though!
  21. All of you have points, ( some don't care for shorts, or white) which is a perfect example of why a dress code more than saying, "shoes optional, beach casual, cocktail, etc." might be overzealous. I just could not imagine someone coming to a destination wedding and show up in jeans or worse hahaha. There are some things the bride should totally control and for me at least, dress code for guests is not one of them in my humble opinion. Some people may feel insecure of their legs in shorts, or hate the way white emphasizes a body part they do not like, you get the point. But if it is very important to you that people wear white, or collars for picture purposes or whatever then so be it, was only trying to get you to take consideration for guests individuality.
  22. @@Ceelou do you know the street the craft supply store is on or the name? Thanks!
  23. I made up a term "beach cocktail" on my wedding website under attire. I would find it very odd for me to be invited to a wedding anywhere and then be told I had to wear a collar or a certain length dress, lol. I would hope and assume people traveling all that way would have tasteful attire. We are marrying in June at sunset and Scott is wearing a black slim fit suit with a bow tie and Chuck Taylor's. It will be hot but it's going to be at 7pm and I think he will be fine. Wedding Fashion is as unique as the person wearing it. No two people are the same )
  24. I paid 35 % down for Gonzalo Nunez! He is seriously awesome!!! We hired him for photographs and then our TTD session two days later I paid 35% for as well. He was the most down to Earth and accommodating photographer I have had the pleasure to interview out of the top few whose work really shined. I was really nervous hiring vendors bc some vendors ask you pay 100% in advance 2 weeks before weddings!!! I started a topic like this a few months back... your welcome to read, a few responses were helpful. Trust your gut!!! Congrats
