  1. We have already married. Sign the legal docs over a year ago. Our children were there. We didn't exchange vowels or do anything at all. We didn't want it to take away from our wedding ceremony in Mexico, not have we told anyone. If I were a practicing Catholic I could definitely see the value of your priest marrying you, my only concern would be weighing out your decision carefully. Only you can do that. If you want it to be real in a Mexico I would take it easy at the legal ceremony. If there are essential traditions you can't forego and that's important to your and your church then you don't really have a choice right? I would era on the side of less. And I would not exchange anything or duplicate anything you intend to do at your DW wedding.
  2. I'm using candles and bring them with me. They won't blow out. I'm putting 6 inch pillar candles in 9 inch cylinder clear glass .vases. Bubble wrapping everything. I'm bringing down all my decor and diy flowers. My florist went AWOL when I asked for paypal instead of doing direct bank transfer. Good luck!
  3. My son, 8 is wearing a black Calvin Klein Tuxedo. Think it was $70. Bought it on amazon. If your worried about the heat (we are not) you could look into Macy's they have separates. Good luck!
  4. @@Sarahop81 Hi! Yes. It's the same email address as it has always been. But this new WC is like rediculous. I just had a long talk with her manager, Elvira. Elvira is a sweetheart and is very understanding. I guess Adriana just up n left without giving wedding files to Elvira. I will PM you info
  5. I've ate off of sketchy buffets many many times all over the Yucatan Peninsula for the last 12 years and never gotten sick. Once at a 5 star, I got sick twice. Go figure! Odds are in your favor!!
  6. @@Lia33 awesome! I'm glad I can help! You will be comfortable too!
  7. Thank you! Guess you might just have to have a vowel renewal at the one year mark! Maybe in Vegas;)
  8. @ thank you! Wowzers 120 ppl girl Idk how you pulled that off! For sure I can totally understand the 2500 for anyone let alone you with that many guests, hope I didn't come across cross. Ive been feeling guilty about spending anything that isn't "essential" I guess it comes from internal childhood stressors but I need to keep telling myself that it is a wedding and that it's all justified and should be allowed.... If that makes sense!
  9. @@calgarybride2015 thank you !! I made this yesterday to match my bouquet. It is Poppy's flower girl basket. Trying to make things pretty without spending a bunch! So far so good!
  10. You know the sand is scorching when given build pathways to the water.
  11. @@TinkerSofi oh my goodness! I can't imagine walking on that hot of sand!
  12. Hey thanks mama! Skipped sand ceremony and wanted the children to be incorporated. My officiant, Petra Rattue (amazing) even incorporated a short little fictional story about family and team work towards the end of our ceremony!
  13. There's a link I posted above and it's talking about how the sand feels cool there. Different theories, the color, possibly limestone, possibly more porous etc. I can't speak for anyone else's sensitivity but I remember it being kinda cool on the feet.
  14. He wants a watch for his reasons you want a ring for your reasons lol! Get them both! I know $ doesn't grow on trees but maybe save a little here and there and get him a watch for a wedding gift and also a simple band for the ceremony. He could wear a proper fitting ring on his right hand during the ceremony. It doesn't have to be on his left hand to be meaningful. But yes no rings around machinery! Very dangerous! P.S. We are honoring our children in ceremony with a watch and a bracelet everybody gonna get a watch! Haha
  15. That's a good question. A standard ballet shoe (non point) Is like wearing nothing in terms of feeling weightless around your foot. It is very different than a flat "ballet" shoe that you would buy at a regular shoe store. The material is designed to conform to your foot and is extremely soft. There are different soles depending on your needs. If you are not using them for dance you would not worry about the soles and instead find one you like. The best way to model the difference would be to try them on. @@Lia33 valid concern! Take note the sand where you are marrying is not hot. It is white sand. Don't hold me too it but I've never felt the sand hot there and the locals also have made comments to the same! You will not burn your feet at all http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g150807-i8-k621841-Why_isn_t_the_sand_Hot_in_Cancun-Cancun_Yucatan_Peninsula.html
  16. Idk I say (my opinion) shorts could be fine. After all your having a tropical destination wedding. I'm sure no one would wear jean shorts. Women probably wouldn't even consider shorts. They probably would want to wart dresses. Now if you you are having an inside ceremony and venue under air conditioning it might be suggest dress or dress casual if specifying your guests attire is of importance. Also time of year and time a day have a lot to do with the elements and what your guests are comfortable with if it outdoors. I am wearing barefoot sandals for ceremony on beach and ballet slip ons for dance supply store for reception! Congrats! Thunder thumbs gets me every time! Ignore my typing!
  17. Found picture frames that could pass at Hobby Lobby. Bought liquid gold leaf painted the frames. Made toothpick flags for escort "cards". They will be shots of tequila with limes (cotton candy for kids) and the flags hanging out oh the limes with names and table #. Bought the cotton lace and string from my maraca and maracas signs. And I'm done for the day. Wheew!! Only have 24 guests thank goodness!!
  18. So when I booked my venue, it was in part because I loved the place and it's policies (still do), and because the onsite WC was amazing. It was like she was working only for me. I would email her maybe 1 or 2x a month and boom! She would respond like we were in constant communication! I realize this sort of behavior is unique and hard to come by. I also knew there was no guarantee that she would be there when our big day came. And as life has a natural way of constant change, Adriana, left Kool Beach Club just 6 months shy of our wedding! I miss her! She set the bar high! They have hired a new WC and to be polite, I will say she is the complete opposite of Adriana. In every way. Getting her to hold the things that we were promised, ( set up with decor, times for rehearsal, specifics of food tasting, etc.) is like pulling teeth. If anyone has any information on the new WC Yuritzia Campillo or Kool Beach club please share on here. Especially if you have recently married or are set to marry there. I'm bummed.
  19. Agreed! I am stoked to have my children, husband, my best friend and family together in a tropical setting! I have always wanted that and that's why we chose a DW. I have already booked swimming with dolphins for my children and deep sea fishing for the guys, not like wedding excursions or formal things but just vacation things. Really excited to have a vacation and a wedding!!! Looking at my currently 1&7 year old children's little faces on their passport makes me smile!
  20. Good tip on the do not disturb sign! I use that tactic too! I've only had things stolen once whilst in Mexico. It was 12 years ago and the safes were key only. My friends didn't put their money in it but instead hid their money in various pockets of clothing and then packed up and put back in the suit case. The maids stole all of their money. Young 18 year olds we were. I always leave 5 on my table with a thank you note hoping the maids won't take my things and it has never happened. I have had some sketch situations with finding my luggage torn thru by tsa before and I'm not taking a chance. But all good ideas and tips!
  21. Good idea about the necklace! I may give that one some serious thought! Thanks for the idea!!
  22. Yes, theft that can happen anywhere. And it happens. Anything small that could have potential value regardless of actual value could be subjected. Your carry on is being searched as standard procedure sfb they see a ring box, next thing you know your being waved over to get patted down or wand do they can take what they want. Not sure how often this can happen but I surely don't want it too. I don't feel weird wearing my rings for the trip, I just don't want the new feeling to not be there when we place them on each other's hands.
