Flow of reception/no dj
LisaAnthonyPoppy replied to shes2013's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
So what do you do for speakers and making sure people can hear the music, especially outside next to ocean? And what do you do if the timing of songs don't fit the mood. I would love to do it myself! I just want ppl to enjoy themselves esp after traveling and all of the expenses -
@@acw271011 I'm glad things turned out for you in the end, congratulations! I don't think it's negativity. It's just a reminder that our weddings are our vision and we shouldn't forget that! Whatever it means for the couple. Wedding cost thousands of dollars, so we, won't be doing business with anyone who doesn't appreciate our hard earned dollars through their actions or their commentary But like I mentioned, we did find a wonderful venue, minister, planner etc, we've signed, booked all travel and we can't wait! Woohoo! @@shelikespink how is it going for you? Any updates? Good news??

I Have A Question On Vendor Charges
LisaAnthonyPoppy replied to MichelleT's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
Yes I have found the same true for Playa Del Carmen. Maybe they think we will pay it or we are rich who knows. But I have eliminated the headache by making do without. -
@ Big thank you. I just called the Wedding Coordinator. She said we can rehearse there the evening before. What a relief. I emailed my officiant and asked her what she would require in order to come down and do a rehearsal with us. I invited her to dinner too so I hope she can do it. I'm so glad I had this tugging on my shoulder to ask. Feel a lot better thanks everyone!

Diy Flowers
LisaAnthonyPoppy replied to nadiakat17's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
I plan on getting mine at DAC its a local produce market. And then across the street from DAC there is a local florist that you can buy long stem cut flowers from called Floeria IRIS or something. I tried to attach a link from everythingplayadelcarmen.com but it didn't work. I had done some research early in my planning and found out about DAC. Anytime you can support the locals vs big corps hand down Im on board! We are not doing an altar either. We are placing flowers in a circle in which we will stand in for the service. I might check out Walmarts selection for some things, but really look forward to being surprised the morning of to see what the freshest flowers are at the market and buying from them anyway. Im planning on doing my own candelabra centerpieces with the flowers in the center in a piece of round floral foam attached to the center candle stick. Some maybe flowers around the base of the candelabra in a wreath piece of floral foam. I want to have some local fresh monster leaves under my plate chargers or some other palm green ( hoping for monster leaves) I actually look forward to buying and arranging beautiful vibrant flowers the morning of my wedding, Having my husband and kids take part of it if they want. Drinking coffee just kickin it. We rented a pretty big condo btw so we have taken all things into consideration for prepping the flowers, big kitchen table, large fridge, sink, etc. If staying at a hotel I wouldn't do it myself, and if staying somewhere that I had to drive to pick up the flowers and take back and feel pressured I wouldn't do it. Good luck ladies!! -
@TiffanyMC Who will be present for the rehearsal? Are you having the wedding party, venue, minister etc? Please let me know your intentions... this is so different, planning a wedding overseas.

Thank you everyone for taking time out to help me out! After hearing your thoughts, it seals the deal for a rehearsal. I think I will talk to the coordinator. Maybe Ill wait until the club closes the day before and so a run through. I am hoping the on site coordinator will be there to help guide the ceremony etc...

Are any ladies having a rehearsal for their ceremony? I am having a beach front wedding ceremony with 2 young children involved. My wedding venue closes for the evening to all public and then one hour later our ceremony will start. I am wondering if that's going to be too short of time for everything to get set up and run smoothly. There is an on site wedding coordinator and what I have found is that she is very attentive, but I am wondering if I should do a run through the day before? My officiant is wonderful and I think she may have mentioned that I do not need to do a rehearsel but Im worried that without it the kids wont know what to do. We are not having a wedding party so it would just be the kids, us and my father who need to do the run through. What are you doing? Are you having a rehearsel?

Diy Flowers
LisaAnthonyPoppy replied to nadiakat17's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
Ladies Ladies Ladies.... Don't forget your marrying in Mexico! They are going to have beautiful flowers! Im marrying in Playa Del Carmen and DIY flowers! Im going to go the morning of and pick out my flowers. I chose my accommodations for lodging based on the ease of being able to get out on foot and walk to the markets and my wedding venue etc. I think you might be safe if you bought your flowers the day before and then kept them in a humidity controlled fridge. But I would NOT do any handling and cutting of the flowers until the day of. Im making tall flower centerpieces out of 24 inch candelabras. -
I'm trying not to get to wrapped up in the bags, I know personally I would prefer to receive a nice tropical candle from bath and body work when they do a 2/22 special. Tropical colored tissue paper twine wrapped around. Make your own day of itinerary, maybe if your planning anything for the group. Take a hole punch thread the twine through it and let it be. I was thinking bags initially but when will people use them again? And they have their own sandals. They may want a tumbler I've seen ppl use them in me at resorts instead of cups. Hell ppl might not even want candles, maybe instead a good body scrub. I think less stress is best and like I mentioned before ppl don't want disposable cheap bic razors or sunblock, more stuff to scatter all over the sink counter top. Cute in theory . Makes sense. But truthfully it's more fun for the bride to put those together than it is to receive a bag of that stuff. Now I on the other hand. Qtips. Haha how many times have you forgotten q tips at home? Alright I'm done

What has your experience been with party planet productions? I want to use them for a few things but my ex wedding coordinator had bad things to say about them. I wonder now considering she is my ex planner for a reason, if she was telling the truth, Would like to know your thoughts! thanks -
Diy Flowers
LisaAnthonyPoppy replied to nadiakat17's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
I'm not marrying near puerto Vallarta rather, playa del carmen. I'm doing my own flowers. There are produce markets that see flowers and you can always go to costco or similar. Plus it will be fun knowing you made your own! -
Every wedding is unique I could NOT imagine celebrating without my children ages 1 and 7. There will be a 1,2,4,5,8,10,13 and some more teenagers and about 22 adults. I couldn't be happier. I'm planning on bringing a bunch of glow sticks, bubbles, maracas, tambourines, games, blankets, kids tumbler cups, fairy wands etc and just having a big blanket with all the goodies set up at cocktail hour. For the adults... Well tequila I'm doing passed French fries in tall shot glasses with ketchup at the bottom for the kids too! So that's just how I'm doing it

Was wondering if anyone had an recommendations on a event rental supply company in or around Playa Del Carmen? I have a catalogue from party planet their prices seem VERY reasonable, and then I have a catalogue from another place that starts with an A, and their prices are ridiculous! I am looking to rent some things, such as a large tub to fill with about 3 cases of beverages and ice, tall cocktail table and some lights, vases. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

@@Wrathwitch well wrathwitch, thanks for taking the time to read my post. The title is a fun way to say don't believe the gimmicks, don't believe that in order to have a great wedding you need to commit total trust in a wedding planner as mine had told me. Now in closing to you I want to thank you for your input on a hotel weddings. My idea, though personal, of an ideal wedding is based on love and intimacy, something I did not feel comfortable sharing with a multitude of vacationers at a resort. I'm choosing to select my flowers from a local produce market, have my best friend help me set up a little decor, choosing not to have an aulter, makeup or hairstyling. All the things that hotels wanted to make me pay for even though I did not want them. For me it's about raw and here and now. Not a show. So to reiterate my original post, if you are satisfied with a hotel wedding, that post is not for you. It is instead, giving couples the encouragement to go after their wedding the way they want it, without all the extra bs, in sum - Dont believe their hype. @@shelikespink Girl I know! After I was given the contract with grand coral myself working the deal myself, decided to hire someone to help with the small details..... and my wedding planner continued to stall and stall and stall the signing of it bc she had zero experience with them. Before I started working with her grand coral chef and manager gave me their willingness to help. Then she came in and told me that basically in a nut shell the things they has told me in writing weren't true. So I after waiting and waiting bc I wanted to remain loyal to my WC I gave up. I contacted grand coral they told me that low n behold what my WC was telling me wasn't true. That scenario happened a few times. I said forget it. I'm not dealing with crooked ppl! And to be told, oh you just gotta trust me, you need a professional bouquet, don't go with your dj- go with mine, the wedding industry in Mexico is cut throat, if you don't accept these terms grand coral doesn't care bc there's a million other brides who want to be married there- I WAS DONE. Did I cave in and think hotel wedding no! And by all means there is nothing wrong with a hotel wedding AT ALL. But for me, I'm the girl that spends all day cooking on my birthday so that I can invite a select few over to enjoy my creations in privacy at my home, there's no way I would consider having my special day shared with the masses or even a few gawking crowds. I knew I could still have our wedding and have it our way. Simple. Relaxed. Private . No shimmer. Incredible food. Family only. Create our own canapés. So after starting from scratch we talked about having our wedding in our back yard. Your so right the expense would be the same and people would treat you a whole hell of a lot more honestly. I'm still not against the idea. It for me would be a beautiful thing. But I found an amazing venue who doesn't even charge a vendor fee, totally private, we created menu, canapés, they are letting us bring our own alcohol. They are cool as could be. I feel so much better. Am I getting screwed considering the prices for djs and catering are half the price here, yes! I'm getting screwed. But at least I know it and have worked a better deal than just trusting a WC word. Anyways backyard weddings are a beautiful thing so if things get crazy insane I'll revert back to my senses and celebrate here. Have you already planned your wedding ? Is moon palace satisfying your vision? Outside vendors? Im Anxious to know!! Share

@@stefadile Check to see what exactly they are going to do. You signed a contract they can't change it and in most cases if the company is sold out let's say or new management, it DOES NOT MATTER they HAVE to honor any existing contract if they are operating under the same name. Since it's just a change of management then without question they have to honor the contract. I don't care what they say, they Have to. Now Idk what it's worth to you if they don't but companies don't want to be suites and I refuse to believe that just bc they are in a diff country means that can get away with being a crook. So I'd sue them and for pain and suffering. But be sure to get straight to the point. Get them the paperwork again and I'd pester the shit out of them and get a solid answer to the golden question? Is there anything else you need from me that is different from my contract to have my wedding? Take their answer and go with it. If it's crazy and u want a refund there's so many places you can have a wedding I say start over. I had to start over but my wedding is in June not December. It actually turned out being a LOT LOT better situation after things went bad with wedding planner/venue. Good luck. @@Sara1603 I think some wedding ppl think they can get away with bullshitting the brides and not having a clue as to what they are doing. I hope more brides report on here their bad experiences not to pour out pity stories but bc ppl want to know! They wanna know who to avoid or who is good ! Thanks for sharing

@@stefadile omg girl that is wedding nightmare from hell. I hope that you are able to get everything straightened out and are able to relax. Man what a terrible thing to have happened. I'm so sorry. Stay strong. It's hard bc you have already paid and your date is fast approaching. Stay calm and know it is going to work out. Hugs @@lisajgarcia3 well if it means anything I watched your little photo I saw your mother (I think) tearing during your vows. People were smiling. I know it doesn't take away from the bs you had to go through. So frustrating! I seriously think some planners are clueless. Do they not know this is a huge day? And it's their job? If they don't want to do it appropriately don't do it at all! It's like common sense problems you had, not like unavoidable acts of God. But anyways your wedding looked good on film;) ! Congrats!
