  1. So I'm wondering if featured vendors are able to delete bad reviews from this website, best destination wedding?! A vendor (not name dropping) I intend to book for services, for a LARGE amount of money had nothing but great reviews on here.. Then under new post section here, a recent terrible review of them came up. So before I did the anything irrational, I copied the link and emailed the vendor, asking them what was up in a kind but direct nature, We talked it over he assured me that the same thing would not happen to me etc. But I log on this forum hours later and now the review is gone, its been deleted. This I confirmed. So whats up with that? Can vendors pay to use this site for advertising and then have control to delete negative reviews? That's crazy! ... If true. I know some places websites like Angies List under certain agreements let companies delete negative reviews from their profile..
  2. I'm planning about 30 mins tops. I realize that's extremely short but if they can't get them done in 30 minutes then we don't need them:) minimum formals.
  3. Sounds like your guests are staying at the same hotel as the ceremony. If that's the case then yes I could totally see them going back to their rooms and then coming back down. I know what it's like planning a wedding with children myself, I'm having probably 11 kiddos. Making cozy pillows and stuffing them once I arrive and buying some blankets there so kids can lay on the Bali beds at our reception and nap. Well congrats!!
  4. Our timeline Ceremony 7 Cocktail hour 7:20/7:30 - 8:15ish Lots of yummy foods signature cocktail but short enough to keep the flow moving for older guests and kids First dance 8:20ish 8:25 dinner 2 courses lobster bisque followed by entree 9:15 end dinner and party! Cut cake around 10ish And party til about 12 ppl can stay or go they can party or slumber! But we want to keep the night without yawns and waiting around... Good luck !
  5. @@KAT2015 ok I like your timeline. However; and I sware I'm not being a jerk just think about mexico mid day sun or even if it wasn't Mexico having ceremony begin at 3 and dancing not start until 8pm, 5 hours later? And then the nearly 4 hours after ceremony ends assuming ceremony is not more than 30 minutes before guests have a place to sit down and eat? By all means it's your day and what is important to you should def be the most key factor but recently, last week actually, I was a guest at a wedding that I only had to travel 3 hours to and it started at 5:30 dancing didn't start until 9:30, 4 hours later. I wanted to die. You can totally tell me you hate my comment and I'll understand but I just thought id share my experiences. Xo
  6. @@calgarybride2015 thank you so much for actually offering so kind feedback. I do have a 16 year old coming who loves to play the drums, dj, take photographs, lol you get the picture? Haha he would love to I'm sure I just don't know that I want anyone to have to be mindful of taking photos who are guests. I know me... I'll have 1 or 2 drinks and I'll be telling them to relax and enjoy themselves and not worry about taking my photographs and end up regretting it later.... @@spjwedding thanks for the referral! I'm going to look at her info now!
  7. @NickiLynn1116omg are you serious ? After we decided to have a rehearsal I can't imagine not being aloud! That's bs. How are you to feel confident in knowing what to do? What was their reasoning ? I'm very curious to find out . Yes my on site WC is very nice and has offered to stay late the day before and help us rehearse.
  8. @@NickiLynn1116 thanks for commenting. I feel like the wedding planners forget that it's. 2014. I don't care that it's a different country, or resort with their own rules blah blah blah lol! It's our one and hopefully only wedding. I'm pretty sure we will drop them like a hot potato if they act aloof to the "job". Good luck! Stay strong and if it's an off site coordinator and you haven't forked over hard earn cash, let her know that you expect more or your ending her services or lack there of. There are great vendors and venues so don't be scared to shop around until you get exactly what you want! Xo
  9. Thanks for taking the time to respond. We are not having a resort wedding. We instead are having ours at a beach club. We started from a blank canvas, which is amazingly fun. The last vendor for hire is a photographer. I know I will be able to find the right photographer for the right price. I know there are probably some freelance photographers maybe looking to build their portfolio or who are maybe just starting out. Was curious to see if anyone has some inside information.. I'm going to talk to my WC and my officiant see of they know anyone locally. If anyone knows anyone let me know! Thanks!!
  10. @@acw271011 I personally LOVE @@calgarybride2015 idea of having speeches take place during dinner at peoples will:) I think we all need to respect each other's ideas and not jump to making conclusions. I think it's beautiful for your family and guests to feel so secure and warm that they would not hesitate to stand up impromptu and give a few words of love and blessings when the mood strikes them. No one is saying that they are going to give an inaugural speech forcing them to eat cold food and thus " penalizing" them, as stated above. As for OUR wedding, we will be having an abundance of yummy food during cocktail hour, followed by a light-normal portion sizes of our 2 course meal consisting of lobster bisque and salmon or steak whipped potatoes and asparagus. I'm sure we have all seen four weddings and similar edited for ratings wedding shows on TV. But I don't think you should live vicariously through shows like that. But instead use a variety of resources and ideas to plan your wedding. I'm bumping this forum in hopes that the OP will hear from other brides and get more open minded posters sharing their time lines and redirect the focus to her question.
  11. @@kmk2016 With respect to the OP question and in keeping with this scenario alone, I think she knows what is key in finding her appropriate venue and WC. @@Shipwrecked2015 you got this!
  12. @@TAkathy I disagree. I wouldn't go as far as to say that she doesn't "trust" them. Trust is earned and not really applicable in this case. Its a business not a friendship. You need to do a little research and make an informed and educated decision. I think any modern bride with a sense of saviness wants to ensure she is getting the best possible prices and honest answers. Doing a little leg work is admirable and I highly recommend it
  13. @@kmk2016 thanks for the detailed response. Ya I'm not so much wanting an edited version of myself or the night. Just want one photographer to snap some photographs that I can put in a book so my kids will have when they are older. I'm looking to spend no more than 500 for 2-3 hours max. Does anyone else know of any photographers for What I'm needing? I've contacted a few with no luck! There's gotta be self employed photographers looking for work. Aside from the big players with the fancy ads and websites. Anyone know of any? Thanks!
  14. I'm having a hard time believing that 1200+ is anything other than insane for a wedding photographer. I have already decided we can not afford a videographer so we are having to videotaped from family. And if i can't find a reasonable photographer, for 3 hours only then I guess my family will be taking pictures too! Hahaha. We are paying for the entire night ourselves, and I can not afford another expense of 1200 bucks. Who have you used and what did they charge you?
  15. Ok take a deep breath and move forward from where you are at. You can have a beautiful wedding the way you want it. I'm sorry that you are feeling this way. I totally get it. Stick to your senses and see what areas you can really spice up and which you just have to let be. Maybe they won't charge you extra for centerpieces if you explain you are making them and not an outside vendor. Things like that...
  16. @@calgarybride2015 yes, great idea speeches can causally take place during dinner. I love in movies you see people just stand up and ring their champagne or wine glass to say a few words! @@BrideToBeJolie thanks! Had I had not just been planning our wedding and then attending a wedding I don't think I would have been able to plan it out accordingly. First dance right after a 45 minute cocktail hour people won't be starving but they won't be in a food comma ready to watch and give the waiters a chance to get first course out without ppl waiting for food. As soon as we are seated I want the first plate down And I want people up and moving before their trance sets in. Ok I over think things! I just want everyone to have a blast ya know?
  17. I just attended a wedding last week and it was...... Horrible. It drug on for FOREVER before we were permitted to dance. Ceremony started at 5:30 and dancing didn't start until 9:30! I wouldn't recommend doing first dance until after dinner, by that point people wanna get up and move and then there's parent dances etc... Too long. Here's how we are doing it. 7pm ceremony 7:20/7:30 cocktail "hour" immediately after ceremony. Not doing a full hour I think it's not necessary plus I want the energy to remain. Lots of food during cocktail hour, signature drinks. 8:15 guest seated and immediately have first dance. 8:20 dinner 2 courses. 9:00 party! 10:00 cut cake 10:00 - 12:00 party some more or leave early you never know I think ppl under estimate how important flow is to a wedding. Good luck. I hope I have helped a little.
  18. Do it yourself and then wait for WC to also quote. It's 2014, Internet is a marvelous thing you have many options to contact them. I got rid of my WC and changed venues bc I just got tired of the venue quoting me lower and WC higher and so forth. Good luck!
  19. Hi there! There are so many options on locations to marry. We knew before we booked our venue we did NOT want to have our wedding at a hotel, even though offered. I don't have a WC. But with a little research I found a beautiful private beach club in PDC that charges no fee to rent the entire place for a wedding as long as you buy dinner and drinks from them. They are allowing us to bring everything and anything we want with no vendor fees. I was allowed to create my entire menu too. If you haven't booked your wedding our signed a contract you might wanna consider other options as well, even if your staying at the hotel. Or like any brides do have ceremony at hotel and book a private venue for reception. It seems like your getting a better deal at hotels but your so restricted and soon find your paying more to customize it then you ever thought! Good luck!
  20. I knew from the very moment I began planning our wedding that I could not have it at a resort, one of the reasons being bc they try squeeze every penny from you. Im so sorry you guys are being quoted those prices. I am using Audio Cancun. They are giving me 5 hours of music for $640. The normal rate is 800 but I negotiated a deal of 20% off bc my wedding is not on a weekend. They have all kinds of options available. I don't have to pay an outside vendor fee bc Im having my wedding at a beach club , the beach club doesn't even charge a fee for use of my wedding! I have to buy my food and drinks from them. We are going to use a ipod speaker for the ceremony music to avoid the extra headache I think, Boss speakers on the beach in Mexico are not very loud so I hope it works out ok. I plan on my wedding processional to be by The Killers so I do want it to be loud enough to have an effect. I'm worried no one will be able to hear the officiant! IDK but I hope all you beautiful blushing brides find a solution that works for you... and don't forget we are going to be in Mexico so that trumps any problems that may arise!
  21. We have 2 sets of iPod bos speakers we brought to cancun on the beach before... I couldn't imagine using them for a reception, bc you can barely hear over the outside noise, wind, ocean etc. We would love to dj ourselves but if the cost to rent speakers is nearly the same as a dj then.... Dj it is.
