I Have A Question On Vendor Charges
hyoungquist replied to MichelleT's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
@@Michelle T - I commented on another one of your posts as well (getting married at the Finisterrra June 2015). If you haven't talked to Lupita already, the resort also charges a $250 outside vendor fee for each vendor you will be bringing on site. I would highly recommend finding other weddings that just used the Finisterra exclusively for all of their vendors. In their highest package (which I think is $3,700 in 2015) the only thing that really isn't included is the photographer. We have a friend that is a professional photographer that we are planning on coming down for 4 days and offered to pay for her flight and hotel (less then $1000) and we don't have to pay an outside vendor fee because she is considered a wedding guest. All of the floral arrangements that the resort has done that I have seen have been beautiful and they can work with pretty much whatever you are wanting. They have a cupcake vendor on site that makes BEAUTIFUL cupcakes if you were wanting to go with something other then a basic cake. I was even thinking of having them do a small cake for us and then cupcakes for the guests and I can make cupcake toppers to take down there and have them use. This package even includes a DJ which I haven't heard any reviews on but our plan is to make a playlist on an ipod and just have them play those songs so that we know that we will be having the exact music that we want. A lot of our guests plan on staying for an entire week and are responsible for their own travel arrangements. The resort is within walking distance to town so no need to hire transportation (everyone is coming in at different times and taking care of their own transportation to the hotel which is typically $50 for shared or $100 for private to stop at Walmart or Costco). Lupita can even plan a "welcome/rehearsal dinner" for you at no extra cost since the resort is all inclusive. We are estimating that with the wedding, our own travel arrangements, STD's, invitations, welcome bags, decorations (keeping it simple as the background is beautiful!) and spending money for while we are there, we will probably be looking at somewhere around $10,000. Just to book a venue where we live in California is a minimum of $5k and includes NOTHING but a site so we think getting married in Cabo is a great deal and can't wait for our family and friends to see why we love it there (we go every summer). -
Yes, would love to see a pic!

I am getting married at the Finisterra June of 2015 (still waiting to confirm a date). @@DVon18 mentioned a recent wedding in another post (takes you to a blog with AMAZING pictures!) but its something to take a look at. I can't wait to here some more recent reviews as well. We just went for a site visit (and annual vacation) in the end of June and loved it. Happy planning

@@DVon18 thank you for that tip! I wonder if the resort did the flowers and the bridal parties hair? I see the picture of their makeup being done and it looked great. @soul groovy I did hear back from Lupita yesterday and the date that we had originally planned on has been reserved boo.

@@soulgroovy have you talked to Lupita recently? I have e-mailed her twice in the last week and haven't heard back. I am trying to confirm what dates she still available for 2015....

Need Help Choosing Cabo Resort For 2015 Wedding
hyoungquist replied to Lovelyo84's topic in Newbies!!
I am planning on getting married in Cabo in June-July of 2015 as well. We go down there once or twice a year and my only recommendation is that you consider a resort that is on a private beach such as the Playa Grande, Finisterra, Solmar or Grand Solmar. I believe the Pueblo Bonito Sunset is private as well. The resorts on the main beach are beautiful but I would hate to be having my ceremony with everyone on the public beach walking over to watch! Good luck planning!- 5 replies

I can't wait to read the review @@DVon18! I am still waiting to hear back from Lupita on what dates are still available next year I just got back about 2 months ago and we LOVED the Finisterra. We stayed at a resort a little ways down from the Mango Deck and were laying on the beach one day when they started setting up a wedding.....right next to us!!!! It was literally like we could have laid there 10 feet from the bride and groom during their ceremony while the crowd on the beach watched. This is exactly why we chose the Finisterra and can't wait for next summer!

Hi There! So I am not yet officially engaged but am planning to get married next summer. My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 years and already ordered a ring which is on its way. We have shared the news with ONLY direct family members. Right in front of us, my future SIL has been inviting all of her friends and saying this is going to be her vacation! Not just oh, "you should come to Cabo with us"....its, "my brother is getting married and you should come!" I am literally blown away. It is really uncomfortable when she does it right in front of us (this has happened three times already and its only been 2 weeks!) and I am not sure how to approach her about this. Yes she is taking time off work and wants to have a vacation BUT at the same time, we are only inviting our closest family and friends which is less then 30 people. We will have about three days that we want to have stuff planned to spend with our guests and don't really feel that it is appropriate that her friends come and "join" even if it is just all of us walking downtown or going out. In my opinion it is about our two families bonding and spending this intimate time together NOT about a huge party and everyone who wants to come is invited! I just am lost about how to approach her about this without her blowing up (she is very controlling and wants everything her way but its not her wedding!). Also, I ordered a dress and am keeping it at her house and found out that she has shown pretty much every single person that has come over and I haven't even gotten to show my own sister yet. Help!!!

Getting Married At Courthouse?
hyoungquist replied to beccafries's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am struggling with this right now as well. Last night we were talking to my FI parents and they laughed when we told them and said "so your wedding in Mexico is going to be fake?" My response was well if you want to pay to have it be legal go right ahead! I was so upset after they left. We are paying for the wedding ourselves and don't really see the need to pay the extra $1000 and have to get there early just to make it "legal" especially when our entire wedding will cost about $6500. Now we are considering not even telling anyone and getting married at the courthouse (even paying for a witness ($21) so that our friends don't even know) and then pretending that we paid the extra money to make our ceremony legal. -
