  1. Planning for April in Cancun.... fingers crossed for great weather but happy to be near sand and sea nonetheless!
  2. Thanks for sharing. Due dilligence on Photography is a priority for me... Both for wedding photos, but to capture excellent family photos for our guests.
  3. a beach party is a fantastic idea! I think we will play it by ear and if our guests want to stay and dance, we stay... if they want to move to a different venue, we move! I want our guests to feel value for their choice to attend our DW and it's also great leveraging tool to lshould we wish to leave the party on our own accord... lol
  4. Another reason to spend Saturday evening on this site rather than a BBQ.... I need to get to 150 so I can read this song list! haha
  5. I think my FI will also wear flip flops for the beach...as he doesn't quite like the shoe jewellry idea! lol Toms are a choice for photos and reception.
  6. Thanks for the insight @@1BeachBride Costly or not, it is all about giving back to our guests who will endure some costs to show their support. Why not give a token of items that they need, may forget to pack, and not incurr RESORT pricing for basic items!
  7. I love the idea of OOT bags.... but adds to the long list of how to do something "out of the box" , "memorable", "unique", and "not tooo costly"! I think my co-workers will re-name me a few times over the course of wedding planning!
  8. Great insight! Simple, composed, and genuine! All traits that work in planning a wedding are sure to be seeds for marriage! There are many variables out of our control, but the ones we do control are the ones to cherish! I plan to embrace each moment for what it means to my FI and our children. Hoping others will want to be there with us, but as long as our 4 children our there to share in our joy that is really all we need!
  9. I am so happy to have read through this thread! Trash the Dress is going to be a highlight for me as I love the artistic aspect of what can be done. Wedding portraits have such an elegant, raw, naturally flawed but timeless look to them it will be a bonus to add the TTD memories to add some flare! Because i have two sons who love to be "different" I will be buying a knock off dress similar to my real dress and spending decent money on waterproof makeup artistry and a photographer. I know in my heart my boys will absolutely cherish and be thrilled to see their mother being a creative non traditional bride who embraces the artistry! Let the photographer sourcing begin...
  10. Great tips! My FI and I will each be buying a suitcase strictly to fill with decor and giving it to one of our younger guests (a starving student or unemployed teen lol) or a stand out employee from the resort who will definitely appreciate it! . Cheaper, less stressful, and more rewarding than shipping!
  11. Accessories are going to be my toughest choice! I love simple but impressionable but with so many too choose from it is overwhelming. I think Bridal dresses and accessories "come to you" similar to how we hear that "books find you" ! What I may go searching for may not be what I end up with.
  12. I know I should have a budget in mind... but I already accept that if faced with finding the perfect dress and it is over-budget, the budget doesn't stand a chance. I know in my head what I am looking for and because it is not mainstream and more the trend in Europe or Australia I am sure to not find a deal or proudly boast I got a deal, but I will be a savvy informed buyer! ... well in theory!
  13. that dress is stunning! I too want lace sheath style with an open back. Simple and comfortable for a beach wedding!
  14. If Oakley didn's have such distinct branding with the "O" I would definitely choose their golf pant! the material and shape of pant are incredible! My FI has made the switchover from denim... finally! lol!
  15. I am from Canada but ill be making a trip to San Fran, Vegas, or Seattle to source out nice Bugatchi Dress shirts ( they have an incredible shaped fit but are very breathable) with Linen pants and Toms (or Toms styled shoes) for our groomsmen! My two boys (Ages 20 and 16) will be in the groomsmen party....hence the Toms! lol
  16. Definitely barefoot jewellry with an Inbal Dror sheath dress for ceremony/photos.... and a clean open wedge shoe for reception/photos!
  17. My heart is set on lace so I hope to not have a huge "wrinkle" issue! Having said that, I think the humidity will help sort it out, but I do believe most resorts offer to "prep the dress" for you. Perhaps you should ask your WC?
  18. Insanity is incredibly good for weight loss and tone. I will be diving back into Insanity, resistance training, and hot yoga to not only shape my body for a sheath backless dress, but to withstand the heat and play beach sports with my children for hours on end leading up to the event! More importantly, I will have a clean eating regimen without any fasting, diets, or bride weight loss gimmiks as there is sure to be some little eyes watching as they fantasize about their own "wedding day" and I want to send the right message!
  19. I have hair with a mind of its own! I wear it stratight but the natural curl really comes out in the humid warm temperatures of Mexico! however so does..... the FRIZZ! I think I will be limited to wearing it up, but if I could wear it down for initial part of wedding I would... and pin it up for a second look later in the evening!!
  20. @ I love your BM dresses! I too have been thinking of light and neutral! That photo confirms I will def move forward with neutral. Did all BM wear that color well regardless of skin tone? Wow.... all dresses look beautiful and really reflect the personality of each bride!
  21. Happy to have come across this post as I wouldn't have thought about what to wear on "dress shopping" day! I think in addition to undergarments I will bring flip flops and heels to ensure length and style show well with each type of footwear I plan on wearing! Love this site!
  22. Wow... sounds like you are "good to go"... and thanks for helping me prepare my list that I will tackle over the next year!
  23. I agree with buying a knock off for trash the dress portraits as I would be heartbroken if I destroyed the real dress! I plan to buy a Inbal Dror, Grace loves Lace, or a Katie May for the special day!
