  1. This is what it looks like. Will email later Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I wore jeans lol Nothing in Canada has to be legalized for your symbolic abroad. They don't ask nor care They just don't recommend you go and legally change your name because you need your passport and travel documents to match for ease of flying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. No issues with the food. I didn't get the popular ala cartes but heard they were good. Lots of entertainment thru out day, games and activities aside from the regular volleyball and such. Nightly shows were good and the disco was always hopping. Snorkeling is right on site and we have some awesome pics of fish and turtles. Dolphins on site at a cost. Spa was off the hook awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Without flight? Wow!!! I paid $1565 with flight and transfers for 7 nights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. There is a lot of selection in pre owned around $350-400k some need lots of work, others not much. Shawn does that for a living which would be just fine but it's fun to visualize a move in ready hehe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Another thing I would recommend is going on Expedia and searching packages for each week - you know at the top it shows you the cheaper days to travel. Then see what week is the cheapest and start looking at those resorts to see if any peak your interest. This is what I did before I had my TA price stuff out - I somewhat knew what the cheapest week was going to be!! Our group rate was cheaper than Expedia - actually no one could ever find one better! Air Canada doesn't have a direct flight to Cancun out of Vancouver so if you did use them it would be a connector. I personally feel you can get your price point but you have to be flexible on the dates and the resort. I married at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. Listed as a 5* but more a very strong 4.5*. The wedding packages are super reasonable and the extras aren't overpriced. And no silly fees for decor set up, or chairs being moved between locations, or electricity fees some other brides talk about! EDIT: I went onto Expedia myself and it seems you can't even search for most of January yet on your own! I booked in May for our January wedding, so maybe in another month or two more stuff will be up.
  6. This happened to my husband. His dad was very negative - upset we didn't do our wedding in Ontario so he could Visit family. Upset he had to take a week to go to Mexico. Upset he had to pay this as he doesn't want to go blah blah. It pained Shawn. Have you ever seen a man cry? :/ I even offered to do something else. My husband realized that the wedding was for him and I -- if his dad didn't want to be there then he would miss out. In the end his dad came but complained till we landed in Mexico. Now him and his wife are talking about where they plan to go next. While it worked out for us, it doesn't for everyone. I say go with what you and your fiancé want as it's your day and you want no regrets. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Welcome and congrats. What specific areas are you looking at? And how fancy of resorts? I got married in January 2015 and for the Mayan we paid $1565 out of Calgary and $1465 out of Toronto. It was classified as a 5* but not as fancy as some like Azul and Palace resorts. Our cheapest quote was out of Puerto Vallarta. From my experience Cabo is fairly expensive. I think you can hit your price but you may have to be willing to adjust your location and be flexible on the week you choose. Have you been speaking to a TA? They are your best bet to help find reasonable pricing for different areas of Mexico. For 2015 prices somewhat shocked me and I was told prices are going up. Also remember the dollar sucks right now which I am sure playa a role in it. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I will email it this evening Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'm not at your resort but my resort had this same rule and it drove me bonkers. How can you make 12-?? Year olds pay the open bar fee when they aren't even legal to drink. I tried to fight this and got nowhere. Although another bride at my resort got a reduced fee. Haha and really an 11 year old isn't going to drink pop and Virgin drinks?? My 9 year olds sucked them back. Vent over lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Our resort had a sound system they played it thru. I just had to tell them the songs and they would fade out so the next could start. I didn't have to provide anything on iPod though. I assume the WC and the DJ were communicating so he knew how large the bridal party was to know when the music could end?? Hahaha it wasn't their first wedding so they knew what to do. Maybe email your WC to ask how they execute it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Ohhh I'll look into it. Evanston also had some starter homes (pre owned) around $400k but that mortgage payment scares me. I have what would be considered a smoking monthly payment right now but in reality I have to bite the bullet if I want to own again!!! Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Yes I'm right off deerfoot and agree I think you bought a townhome right? I'd consider a duplex but with 2 nine year olds we already don't have space in our current townhome. They take so much space lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I had 48 tumblers and didn't get checked. I had 11 bags and my dress. The customs is a 50-50 gamble in Mexico. The recent brides on here who did her the red light and had a check said they were out in 3-5 mins. Have your receipts on you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. ChicagoFactory on Etsy! They have a lot of different color options as well as sparkly or not That sucks! That is why I made that list for my MC to ensure we got pictures with everyone! I don't fault my photographer as I love her pictures but no care was taken into making the book (ie - you seriously cut people out of the group photo - if it didn't fit in that spot, put it somewhere else!) Thankfully photo books aren't that expensive to make - so if you wanted another one
  15. I also did boarding pass invites. Took some time, I agree. But oh so lovely. The passports also are a great idea but would definately take more time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I looked back threw it. Overall it's not terrible but when a normal sized print is made into a wallet sized print it just does it no justice lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. With only yourself and no pre photos I think 2.5 hours is reasonable. Guests can do whatever they want like on all the other days they are there it's your day and no one is going to expect anything from You - trust me. Our guests did whatever they wanted every day we were there and the wedding day was no exception. We just asked they remain sober until the reception hahaha (we have some hardcore partiers) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I didn't have a late wedding, but thought I would chime in. I had myself and 3 bridesmaid's for the spa, but also had to get my daughter ready (flower girl). Between the spa and getting ready plus the 'getting ready' shots I needed 5 hours - we started at 10am and the ceremony was at 3pm. If you get married at 5pm (for example) I would recommend you start around 12pm unless you have more people where you may consider starting a bit earlier depending on the services you are all having done. So after a nice breakfast and maybe a quick lounge at the pool you won't have much time to plan anything crazy. I would keep it simple, as some said above, not to stress yourself out. You have so much going thru your mind already about the big day and things you hope you don't forget and sometimes last minute details - you don't need to worry about planning activities for anyone but yourself/bridal party!
  19. Hey! I would suggest a passport invite and maybe a boarding pass or luggage tag STD??? I honestly only did an invite. We booked our resort 9 months out and sent the invites 8.5 months out. For us, there wasn't time to do both. I would include the wedding date and week.... the resort, and also your wedding website if you have one made by the time you send them out. Do a search on here of STD and you will find a tonne to reference.
  20. Hey if you end up using Adventure Photos I have some tips on the photo book LOL!! Got mine last night - was a bit disappointed... not photographers fault, but if interested I can let you know.
  21. I did it exactly a week before we departed too. We didn't exchange rings, didn't say vows (only what we had to say to legally marry), we didn't wear our bands after or reference each other has husband/wife. It was literally just a technicality for us - but we made it that way! Since you won't be eager to do anything like name changes, etc. until you come home I don't think you need to do it sooner than that!
  22. As I've said we didn't tell anyone. We looked at it as a requirement to make Mexico legal. I have a close coworker I asked and her boyfriend. She was invited to the wedding but couldn't come. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Ohhhh how old is he? Wouldn't that be funny if I knew him. I'm sure I don't lol I've lost my desire to workout and eat healthy - you know wedding planning excuses. But fiancé told me last night I used to be so active and moving around and now all I do is sit on that website. Haha true but it hurt. Gotta get my crap together and get back to the gym. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edit - I mean my husband haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
