Our Dw: Dreams Riviera Cancun 17 Apr 2015
calgarybride2015 replied to pddcmc's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
Everything looks great. Haha those isle runners can be dangerous too. After watching my wedding ceremony I was shocked - groomsmen tripped, me and dad got hung up on it and then my dad almost tripped again sitting down. I would have preferred the sand! Thankfully noone literally fell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I agree, that is why I won't ask my dad to follow thru on the honeymoon promise. I know it's on his mind and we will leave it there We had a few large sum money gifts and one I actually said I had a hard time accepting - she told me she wasn't taking it back and to move on. I know sometimes that is a bit taboo too, but it was really weighing on me.

Well said, @@beckys98 I think most of us on here have been hurt in one way or another. I won't repeat my dramatic story once more, but someone who I thought was my bestfriend didn't even acknowledge my engagement or want to be involved in anything - I tried a couple times, confronted her to make amends on whatever the issue was, and then tried one more time and walked away. It's been almost a year - I got engaged April 1, 2014 and I easily haven't talked to her for 10 months and I am A-OK with that. I accepted that it happened for whatever reason she had, that I tried, and that I walked away from the drama. I don't regret it for one moment. good luck and hugs!

I agree with most posts. If you are uncomfortable to ask, it is probably your gut instinct as said above. I have always been very independent and if I want something I get it myself. My mom bailed me out once way back in my early 20's and I have never asked again. My mom did pass away though and my dad is NOT like my mom in that way haha! With that said, I never even considered asking for help from any parents to pay for the wedding. We were just thankful people were paying to attend our wedding. It was not in our budget to pay for anyone, but for those that do it's a great gesture. My dad did offer to pay for our honeymoon - he offered to pay for our second week in Mexico but we were unable to make it work. That said, he offered to pay our way to Vegas. I booked Vegas and I haven't told him. I will not ask him for that money, but if he offers it that is a bonus. We booked a hotel and such that was in our price range and we are prepared to foot the bill. Just the way I am. If they offer to help that is fantastic, but don't let the in laws make you feel guilty they aren't. They need to ensure their families are ok too and also get their way to Mexico. Anything after that is a bonus IMO!!!! Hugs

Yes! Most resorts have smaller, flimsy cups....so if you give them a larger insulated one it cuts down on trips to the bar and keeps their drinks cold! Mexico's cups aren't a bad size (the 2 resorts I've been too) but when I was in Cuba it literally only held half a can of beer, no joke! We always travel with our own bubba mug! -
Fun Songs For The Reception?!
calgarybride2015 replied to IzzyDeee's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
I like top 40 music so we had a lot of that with some country. But fun interactive songs - things like gangnam style, YMCA, Macarena, that Cuban line dancing song, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 9 replies

Not everyone wears a ring so I'd be curious to hear if it's territory or not. Let us know. That to me seems like something possibly optional. I think it's fair to tell your priest you are having a wedding in Mexico and that you'd like to keep as much as possible for this ceremony and so you'd like to only have a ceremony back home with what's necessary to make it legal. Hopefully he will understand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Leaving On Saturday!

You can do it. I am an anal, OCD, controlling of the details type person... So if I can let go so can you heheheh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Sometimes I wish I had the same as my kids but since it's more and more common not to, it's less hassle. Some 15 years ago my sister had to prove they were hers all the time. Upset her deeply Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I may have said to husband 'is this an April Fool's joke? ' heheheh Mine isn't that large either. I told husband way way before we got engaged that I would rather spend the money on something else. That I didn't need anything large and elaborate. Ok sure I wouldn't mind it but LOVE my ring (which in the end I also picked) and wouldn't change it for the world!!

Forsure... I just love to hear why people chose one way or another. My sister has a male friend who took his wife's last name!! You make a valid point. With all the electronics and stuff these days, kids are in a totally different world!!!
