  1. I have kids and you didn't offend me whatsoever. This has nothing to do with kids, it's more her inability to be flexible and juggle obligations -- if she wanted to do it she could and would. I don't mean that to sound harsh or offend you - trust me I use my kids as excuses at times, but I do know I can work things out if need be. Does she have her mother there? or an aunt or cousin or? There is someone there who can take care of her son. Also, I think her boyfriend should be able to as well. If she has chosen this man to be around her children, then she should find him responsible enough to care for her son or quite frankly why are they dating? haha I know that sounds harsh and possibly for another type of discussion, but it's true! With respect to her hair appt. I think all you can do is suggest how important it is to you that she be there for the getting ready - maybe suggest people who could watch her son for her, or try to help her with a timeline suggestion. If she won't budge I guess there is nothing you can do. With respect to the reception - this is YOUR call and noone else's. Trust me, kids can stay up late one night for a wedding and like the @@TinkerSofi said they can sleep there. We slept at parties too and so do my kids - they adapt. It's not the end of the world. She said a lot that made me lol because it was so true from my childhood! And in closing LOL kid's don't take long to get ready, especially a boy without hair to do. I think my daughter took about 10 mins TOPS! most was her hair, throwing on her dress took 30 seconds. But a baby may take a bit longer as she physically has to dress them herself. EDIT: Read it again, I probably wouldn't leave my kids all day to go on an excursion. I had no issues having my family watch over them the day after our wedding but I was on site if something went wrong. I know that a lot of my family would do it, no questions asked, but that one would be a lot for me to ask. Would depend on the situation though. If I had to go offiste as a wedding obligation (not an extra) or what have you - yes, but just for an excursion I probably would politely decline as well. Just another perspective for you. But wedding day obligations- she should be all in.
  2. I plan to reply to your vent when I'm on my pc as I can't text well hehe I have kids - 9 year old twins. My daughter stayed with my sister/aunt when we were at the spa and they got her back to the room about an hour before the ceremony for me to get her ready. My son stayed with my husband (he is not their dad) all day. At the ceremony and reception everyone looked out for them. There was 1 other kid and 2 teenagers. Ultimately husband's mom was in charge and when they were tuckered out she brought them to bed for the night. The next day everyone watched over them for us so we could have quiet time alone. All week everyone helped everyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I wasn't very creative, I just used the Mexico logo Badge holders from amazon and the loops from dollarama Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Ugh that is absolutely frustrating. My flight was cancelled and changed but that was like 6-7 months in advance. 3 weeks in advance seems really odd, I would be beyond annoyed and frustrated. I am almost shocked. I would like to say at this point I can't see an airline changing their flights, but then again I couldn't see it at one month out either. Could you call AeroMexico and tell them the situation and ensure that their flight schedules are permanent for the month of April? Is anyone able to change their work schedule to help with those costs? Do you have any miles programs that you contribute too that may help offset the cost? I am sorry I have no other ideas and the ones I do have seem weak. I wish you the best of luck.
  5. Everything looks fantastic. Love how all the vases and holders, etc turned out -- so elegant. Still love the little owl That really is too bad about the pricing. It's oh so true though!! And I have a feeling prices may get worse especially for 2016!!! The dollar ain't helping a darn thing. It's so sad people listen to others and then not only does the 'shit disturber' back out but causes headaches for those he tried to take along on his ride hope it works out for him. Transat has a hold though since they are the only Canadian airline to your resort. Sneaky devils. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'm shocked they cracked. I find normal polish will be mostly gone by the time the week is over from the sand, but never had issues with shellac. I always use shellac now when I go to a tropical destination. but everyone is different and some are harder on their nails than others, etc. What I like about doing shellac only for tips is that you don't need to have longer nails than you already have.... and it sure can make them look a lot longer than they are!!!
  7. Shellac on gel nails? I think you just do one or the other! I think we lost eachother on that one. I just was curious if you had colored tips or a full colored nail (whether it be gel or shellac they use) because you would see more growth with a colored nail then a clear nail/white tip. They all ruin your nails equally (shellac, gel, acrylic)
  8. The unfortunate part is that they all ruin your nails When you use shellac are you using color or do you have them make colored tips? I find when I do the gel you don't notice the growth as much because it's 'clear' but if it was blue or pink over the whole nail you could see it much much quicker. haha did that make sense?
  9. True - that's what I meant! I went a bit more than a week because it had been 6 weeks after my last fill (was trying to save money) and I just couldn't take it anymore. I got my nails done on Sunday and then 1.5 weeks later I wed.
  10. I used 'all because you loved me' by Celine Dion for my father/daughter dance. I was stumped and so I used what my sister did at her wedding some 18 years before mine! For our exit from the ceremony we used 'On Top of the world' by Imagine Dragons!
  11. One week before you go is ok, your growth won't be too horrendous! Unless your nails grow at the speed of light. I wore nails for years and did mine a week before we left too I wouldn't recommend acrylic though, that is probably why Marina had so many issues. I would recommend some type of gel, there are a few different options. Even shellac can hold up better. Most salons won't even use acrylic anymore, well in Calgary anyways hehe
  12. @@newmansmiths I just posted a pick on the FB group! The coordinator sent me a picture in the beginning, I also had pricing for it but it's 2014 pricing.
  13. No you only need a period to get pregnant Some people like to have one so they know they aren't pregnant, but otherwise it's more for your comfort. It does not harm you in anyway! The longer I go without one and the more I take my pills thru the spotting (I was getting some spotting every 3-4 months) I notice that it stays away longer and when I do have my 'period' it's like 2 days of nothing and it's gone. I use Seasonelle now and will consider Alesse when I want to switch, but Yasmin was on her list. it's nice to have options when the bleeding comes at a very inconvenient time. I never had spotting early on in the process..... I have been getting some more lately- thinking maybe wedding stress. Doctor suggested I change my pill up as maybe I am just getting used to this one but until it's really inconvenient I will stick it out. All my family has heavy bleeding. My mom had to have a hysterectomy from it. My other sister needed iron injections from the blood loss!
  14. I agree, it's beautiful!!!!! Just remember, if you spend any amount of time getting it dirty like I did - jumping in the water does it wonders
  15. I honestly just let the DJ go to it. I told them the styles of music I liked and he nailed it. I think your list looks good. He fed off the crowd which in turn didn't amount to many slow dance songs! Some of the big ones I remember - for crowd interaction - YMCA, Gangnam Style, Cuban Shuffle (name?), Macarena. Others you already listed above. EDIT: hhahaha ok I said Cuban shuffle, is it cupid? (slide to the right, now slide to the left).... OMG I am hilarious. I was drunk that's my excuse.
  16. Well depends what type of pills you use and if you don't mind using it continuous! You don't have to come off for the placebo pills, just start a new pack of the regular ones. Obviously depends on the type of pill as I mentioned above as some have varying doses of the hormones depending on the week of pill you are on. This is ok to keep going and start a new pack because some brand actually make the dosing longer (ie Seasonelle) I have been doing continuous birth control since around 2001!!! Came off and got pregnant with twins (doesn't hurt fertility lol) and have been going ever since. So basically if you are currently going 21 days, then 7 days off... you can stop that and just take them continuous. Some people may spot some (I didn't) but spotting is still much better than Aunt Flo on your wedding day. If you already do this, but are finding some break thru spotting/bleeding you can also double up on your pill for a few days until your lining stabilizes (also got this idea from 2 doctors - my own and one I work with). If you start spotting on your pill on a 21 day cycle DON'T stop taking the pill to have a period. Keep going, the spotting will stop I PROMISE you that. Sometimes mine last a day or two and up to a week but it will go away. If you are on continuous birth control you don't need to stop either, unless it's time to have a period. So like I said LOL scenario depends on what you do now and on what med you take, but you have options! Currently I am using Seasonelle (3 month dosing) but I take it continuous as well. I get a period every 5 ish months .... sometimes less, sometimes more. I will start spotting and if I feel it's been long enough since my last period I will come off for one. If the timing stinks (ie wedding) I will keep taking the pill and in 2-5 days the spotting goes away! I am anti period as I had 7 days of hell, so I have been speaking with numerous doctors and ob/gyne's for years on different things to try!
  17. @@pddcmc I do women's health nursing and there are things you can try to avoid it on your wedding. I can blabber on if you'd like. Sorry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I agree with AllieH. Not everyone looks the same in the dress and not every website has worthy photos that they post! Some of David's Bridal make me laugh, but others on their site are fantastic. If you feel like a million bucks in it, then I say go for it!!! Professional photographers can do so much more to highlight your dress than I think we realize. Every time I saw pics of me in my dress I was like 'booo it is so much more beautiful than that' and then when I look at my wedding photos I know why I loved it. my camera did it no justice. But ultimately it's your call - I wish you the best of luck.
  19. I agree on the sunscreen, most people don't travel to places like Mexico without any. Well one of my guests did - sigh- but she's a special story (eye roll) LMAO! You can also get 3 packs of tums at Walmart. It was about $2 for 3 rolls. If that idea interests you at all.
  20. We had one couple we just directed to our website and they didn't get an invite. It's your call. Make sure you save an invite for you though as a keepsake. All I can say is - you invite who you want there, don't worry about others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Glad it's been going ok!! Forget about the past and just enjoy the week!!!! Employ your lady friends to help finish the wedding items- trust me they love this stuff. I had about 6 girls help me and we plowed thru it in like 1 hour. Probably less but we laughed a lot yay so soon now!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I think everything looks great!! What are you going to do with those flowers made out of novels? they are fantastic. The wrist corsages are beautiful - will they wear those and hold their clutches or did you change your mind? Everyone has their own sentimental items, so for me only I wouldn't spend the money on a fake bouquet if yours is already included. All my wedding stuff is tucked away in my little treasure box. I have looked at it twice since the wedding. While you get to keep it yes, how much will you actually look at it? For me the guestbook items and stuff from people mean the most and what I generally look at when I pull out my keepsakes. But again, everyone has a different opinion on that
  23. Thanks! Yes I have no idea what those would have cost but it does add up. I was truly thankful those things were basics in all their wedding packages. I did pay for those chair sashes too at $2 a pop but they were well worth it. The plain white is just too plain Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Hugs. Sorry to hear about your burn. I hope you are ok. I agree though - with the right ointment they usually heal nicely. A coworker burnt her arm pretty bad with a pot of boiling water. I dressed it at work for her daily. I thought it looked 'bad' but a month or so later you couldn't even tell she had been burnt. I was shocked. Hang in there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
