Destination Weddings Perceived As Selfish?
calgarybride2015 replied to hp520's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Are you serious? He isn't going but he's working to get others not to go either? What does he tell them as an excuse not to go? Like what's his justification? And all I can wonder is - what the hell type of friend is he? That would be enough for me to call friends off. WHO in their right mind tries to convince people not to attend a wedding. I'm dumbfounded. All I can assume is that he feels bad so if others don't go his guilt is less. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I like the shoes from Notdstrom best and agree, You could definately wear those again. What didn't you think went with your dress? The color? The style? Also remember most people won't even see your shoes. I think I have one picture you can truly see my sandals and that's cause I had my dress pulled up. Just a thought. Thanks!! It's far from professional but the fact he taped it for us makes it super special That's great for him - congrats! A girl I know, her husband just finished mechanical engineering and got his ring. Shawn just told me he was surprised I couldn't see him welling up. He said he had to fight it ... Hard. Glad he could to help me haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was nervous as heck. I just started at Shawn because I didn't know what else to do. I thanked my dad for not crying because if he had, or had I have seen the ones in the crowd who were crying I would have been done! I was oddly relaxed all day for some reason! i think being in a destination, like we are, really helps to settle some nerves. I didn't really get nervous until I heard my music then I was freaking out.

Any photographer will stay with you all day if you pay them we had an 8 hour package. Good luck choosing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From my experience in Mexico in general that they just fill up the transfer buses the best they can with resorts around yours. I've always had to stop even when my resort filled most of the bus. I've never seen them stop 5 or 6 times but I think it's safe it will stop once. But maybe your resort will be the first stop. It's so hard to predict. What time does the flight land ? And what time is the wedding? That may give a better idea if private transpiration would be more safe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hey ladies, here is my attempt at posting the wedding ceremony video our friend taped! Far from professional, but perfect for us as you will see -- isle runners are dangerous. also seems blurry on full screen, watch it small https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10155402515365385&pnref=story Awe.... all I can say ladies is don't wish your days away... once it comes and goes, you want it back really really bad !!! Us past brides are SUPER envious of you!

Those are awesome! If I had known what a papel picado was before I planned our wedding I totally would have used it.

One Bridesmaid Driving Me Nuts! (Rant)
calgarybride2015 replied to IzzyDeee's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think your feelings are legit and I don't think you are over thinking it too much. The manis/pedis, pre-wedding get together, etc. I can see her not making a long trip for BUT with only a 2.5 hour commute I personally would drive for my friend's bridal shower and bachelorette parties, even more so if I was in the wedding party. My MOH and one of my BM's live 12 hours away and we did a lot of these 'extras' in the winter so of course I wouldn't expect them to drive here! and flying from northern BC is SUPER expensive. I had one BM in Calgary and she did everything - bless her heart. Love her. So I think you are justified and I would be upset too. 2.5 hours in the whole scheme of things isn't that large. If I was her, I would atleast try to attend one, if not two, of the larger events. Some I can see her passing on. Hugs!!! Your feelings are probably a bit more sensitive now because your wedding is sneaking up. I was a freaking mess in the last month - like a mess!!! - so I totally understand where you are coming from. Thankfully my LARGE drama was all in the early stages. -

Anyone Doing Honeymoon First Before Dw?
calgarybride2015 replied to Jocelyn73115's topic in Honeymoon Talk
Being a recent bride, I would probably suggest doing the honeymoon part after everyone goes home. Arrive with everyone and spend the week with them then stay an extra week for yourselves. Whether at the same resort or elsewhere. You will have wedding stuff that occupies you (and if your ladies are there they can help) and you will also worry about things like getting burnt before you wear your wedding dress, etc. Also spending a week with friends and family IS AWESOME!!! but it's tiring too lol so you may appreciate some extra days after to unwind and take it all in. Your call though, you know the two of you best. Enjoy! -
Planning The Reception!
calgarybride2015 replied to hellosassypants's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
That's great!!!! Even though you paid for it, it's like a special surprise you didn't expect. We did our entrance and then speeches right away,Right after we had our dinner. After dinner we went person to person to introduce ourselves and say something about ourselves - was really just an AA meeting, was hilarious. It ended with my husband and I so we got a chance to say thank you to everyone for coming. Then we danced for a couple hours, then we cut the cake, then we danced some more. I had a 6 hour reception though so my times would be more scattered than a 3 hour reception. I liked our lay out though, so it may give you an idea of how to schedule things just closer together. -

I think it's totally ok. It's a free flight for them. If it was me I'd just be thankful it was free and not care there was a stop! You did good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Just jumping in... I'd probably just send out the invites without a time. Or use the one you hope it will be. Lots of times things change anyways or you change your mind so it's possible the invite may end up 'out dated' anyways. I changed my ceremony time myself!! Haha. People will be there that day regardless of the time it starts so in the grand scheme of things it's probably a minor detail. Keep your wedding website up to date and just remind people - ie pre travel letter, welcome letter, website, etc. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is that direct? Houston seems so much closer to Mexico than a 6 hour flight. Glad you worked it out though!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
They both look good to me. In the first one you can tell the H is brighter and more sharp. But comparing the 2 they look similar so I'd say go with which one was easier to do!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edit -- when I scroll in though I think I vote for spray paint. It's more fluid and doesn't start/stop. Where the M on the second may suggest a start/stop hehe does that make sense? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anyone Else Frustrated By Prefered Vendors?
calgarybride2015 replied to purplekitten's topic in Destination Wedding Vendors
You said it. You use theirs they get a % or if you don't they get the vendor fee. They are lining their pockets. We get screwed back home too just isn't as noticeable. Anything with the word wedding in it is over priced from the get go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
