  1. Oh no!!! Did you sort it out? Unfortunately it happens with airlines too - in Canada we have package deals and I have heard of it happening with major carriers too. The resorts are over selling. It isn't always the airlines fault as they have access to what's 'apparently' available and some get bumped. Unsure who they decide to bump but it does happen even when booking thru TAs, actual airlines and the resort themselves. I booked my wedding thru Air Canada and my TA told me the resort wasn't available anymore not even to book separately (my guests would find their own flight) but then West Jet was still selling our package. It runs a little deeper than we appreciate I think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Oh trust me, once they realized what was included they were set!!! It wasn't the last for most guests who had never traveled. This was husband's side, all mine have traveled so they were in from the get-go.
  3. Great article for newbies who have never traveled. I remember when we were new into the destination wedding planning we had told one of our guests back home that the package from Toronto was going to be about $1465. He was disgusted that a flight could cost so much money to Mexico and was sourcing out other options. He had no idea that included literally everything!! We had a lot of teaching to do to these people that essentially this was their total cost minus any extras they wished to do and tipping.
  4. The med is an antibiotic not an antiviral. Is she just hoping the med works or did she do any testing (swab or bloodwork etc) to diagnosis what it is quicker? If she thinks it's bacterial it can be tested. Viral can't. Did you get a chickenpox vaccine at any time? Worth getting if you haven't had the pox or the vaccine. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Oh no that's terrible. How long do shingles last normally? I don't have much experience with them. Could it be cleared up by then if he cuts out everything and just rests? Can he stop work now? feeling horrible for him (and you) please keep us posted Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. It actually was totally fine! All their info was pretty thorough and any clarification I needed was answered. I was a bit annoyed a couple times at the end but everything was perfect. And my thread on this site was fantastic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Yes it was stressful!! I got my WC 1 month out and figured it would be daily communication. Her first couple emails took a week then they picked up to daily. All works out though!!! In the beginning they had a general lady answer all emails. Took 2-3 days sometimes a week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Haha mine got slower AFTER I got my personal WC!!! But I know they had a large turnover then and everyone was doing the best they could. On site I was their #1. So You quickly realize once you are there why response time is slower. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. That is a lot, but it's a long weekend I love reading 'burn CDs' seems so old school hey? if only our kids knew we used to make mixed tapes! ha! ps - my friend is attending a wedding next week at your resort!
  10. Also love the hanger!! While I love my wire one, they aren't meant to be used haha! I left my dress on it at the seamstress and it got a little bent out of shape (was probably in her way), so when we went to Mexico I packed it and only brought it out for pictures. HA! that didn't work well in my favor either. So the nice thing is the engraved ones are much more practical!
  11. They aren't my first choice either, I actually would prefer Sunwing or West Jet but they were the cheapest price with the best bonus! So that was ok for me. We had no problems with them. Everything was on time and all the baggage made it, etc. First class was a dream, will be hard to go back to economy in August when we go to Vegas!
  12. 70 bubba's would be unreal to lug down. Easily 2 suitcases. All I could suggest is a cup that stacks. Maybe a stadium cup? I think this idea is great and had I have known of it sooner I would have done stadium cups over tumblers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Ohhhh like!! Husband's cousin lives in Merida and his local girlfriend sells real estate. Quite the market for flipping homes there. It's on Shawn's mind to go as he does renos here but I'm not sold just yet. But I'd buy a vacation home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Sounds great to me. Some of that was close to what we had but in warp speed mind you. I'm sure I had the quickest ceremony eva!! I think it's beautiful Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I tear up when I hear our wedding songs in my car for crying out loud LOL!!! I have no idea how I didn't cry. Only thought it maybe because of the legal ceremony? I had some practice. Not sure. Yes post it!!!
  16. Me either, but some how I pulled it off. HAHAH Husband said to be the other night he was shocked I couldn't tell he had to wipe tears from his eyes. But he didn't wipe them because he didn't want anyone to see him do it. I knew he was emotional but he held them back better than he thinks too
  17. I did things like make appts for hair, nails, waxing etc. Final dress fitting and pick up. I also got all my last crafts done and started packing what I was done with. Go thru summer clothes and wash up what needs freshening up. Any immunizations you need or get meds you plan to pack. Ensure you have all your paperwork and receipts in order. That type of stuff Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I can send you the price sheets and stuff I got and I can break down for you what I paid Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. From what I understand all packages include 10 people UNLESS you upgrade your location and then you pay per person. I had the free package - I upgraded to palapa, extended my reception 3 hours (6 total), had a cocktail hour, mariachi band, chinese lighted lanterns, chair ribbons, extra bouquets for my bridesmaids/reception tables, extra bouts for the men, rose petals for the isle, golf cart service, DJ service, then hair/makeup and hair trial. Think that's it.
  20. I wouldn't give this another thought -- gets the kid's menu!! 1. at their age, they won't eat near enough to even justify a buffet price! 2. they are also picky and a burger/fries or chicken nuggets will make everyone much happier in the end (kids get something they want and parents don't have to listen to the kids whine they don't like fish or steak or whatever) 3. I can guarantee you with 100% certainty no one will bat and eye you had a kid's menu for them - they will probably appreciate it, refer back to #2 and kids whining lol. My kids are 9 and the kid's menu was great and more than enough food. I did send a quick text to all the parents (wasn't many) and gave them the choices of the kids menu and they all said 'all work, whatever you want' So I got them all cheeseburgers.
  21. Oh everyone did that naturally, people still talk about how many great people they met and the new friends they made. My family and friends are very welcoming as are my husband's side. You will find though people made their own groups, which is also great as they bonded!! It is a good idea to make up those plans and announce them before you get there because you will forget and get to busy ahhaha!!! Most of us hung out at the same pool so a large amount we hung out together every day, then the odd ones who preferred the beach filtered in and out. This is totally my guilt and your posts have made me feel better, thank you. That's awesome! I hadn't seen most of my family is over a year, so it was also a nice big reunion for everyone!
  22. The tough part is, is that some people you just won't see. We had people literally go off and do their own thing every day! They treated it like their own vacation - as they should - but that means we only saw them in passing. Ie - husbands brother and sister in law. So while we got to speak to everyone at some point, some we just didn't get to spend time with. We always made sure to talk to everyone as we saw them though. Also people realize it's your wedding and know you are busy -- we had people not ask much of us because they thought this. While true on the wedding day, not so much for the week. Unfortunately we also had the drama girl and people avoiding us because of her (haha wish they knew we were avoiding her too )I have no regrets about the week as we did the best we could given people were all over - some people left the resort daily!! But I do feel bad about the wedding reception itself. But I guess that's why the week long trips are great. You have 8 days to talk not just 8 hours ack!!! Just do the best you can. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. It's tough for sure. I have some regrets about it too but overall I think you do the best you can do!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. hahahha maybe he started doing it because of ME!!! I was nervous as heck! I was very laid back about how everything went and putting my trust in the WC, but husband even said I looked nervous. I just stared at him the entire time, not even sure I blinked!! Glad you were able to let that go - good job! Your wedding photos you have posted are gorgeous. I can't wait to see more.
  25. Yes!!!!! Lol. I actually appreciated that. I amGoing to get a close up from mine to show you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk If it's not they look A LOT alike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
