Our Dw: Dreams Riviera Cancun 17 Apr 2015
calgarybride2015 replied to pddcmc's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
I got my bubble wrap at Dollarma but not all of them sold it. I had my tumblers wrapped individually just in case. What I did for packing of the smaller stuff is pack it into smaller Rubbermaid type bins (think shoe box size) and that helped contain it. Being in those bins also helped transport it to the WC office. I also bought larger/jumbo ziplock type bags and had one per table with the decor for each table so they knew what went where. Hahha with instructions in marker on them how to set it up. I thought I was being helpful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Our Dw: Dreams Riviera Cancun 17 Apr 2015

I know it's tough but try not to cry. Our week called for rain too and it rained once over night. Mexico rain isn't the same as our rain. It can down pour for 5-10 min hard then it's gone. I know sometimes people get rained out but chances are higher for sunshine. Try not to stress about this as it's out of your control and I can almost promise you that by the time you fly out next week the forecast will change 1 or 2 times. Hugs. I am going to be honest.... the more time I spend looking at all these beautiful the dresses, the more open I wish I would have been with my dress. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my dress but I had that destination wedding dress in mind and sometimes I wish I would have ventured further. That dress is stunning and I don't think it's too much for Mexico whatsoever. Even more so since you are on the rooftop terrace! Seriously, stunning! I looked at all the cards - OMG they are really all great. I think I like 2 or 3 best, only because I LOVE the color that comes with them. If I were to use 1, I would make the Mexico the hot pink you have used in 2 and 3. All are a good option though.

I second @@acw271011, lots of factors at play. I was a bride who was very conscious about the cost per guest because I was so worried about pricing our guests out of coming. I also have traveled before and knew what I was comfortable paying. That said I was VERY flexible on when we were to get married. I played around on Expedia (or whatnot) quite a bit to get an idea of the months and weeks that were showing decent priced packages. The exact week we chose in January was solely based on price. Does your travel agent know the price point you have and also the types of resorts you are hoping for? It was my travel agent who suggested the resort we ultimately chose. It was never on our radar, but what she would do is price the resorts I asked, then throw in some of her own that she knew were coming back in our price point. Was such a stressful decision - the toughest you will make, but with a bit of flexibility on resorts, dates, and location you will hit your price point without compromising on quality of resort or quality of wedding. In the end we paid $1565 from Calgary and $1465 from Toronto for a 5* in the Riviera Maya. Good luck

I smiled when you said 'sexy guy'. Ahhhh I love the love you two have. Such a role model for all of us The dress is fabulous and I would leave it as is. It's beautiful and I think his mouth would drop open like you were going for. Can't see the attachments on my iPhone. Will check at home and post. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Quite honestly I didn't deal with this. I just accepted it may happen :/ I'm happy to report that everyone had some common sense and waited for us to post first. That said, Shawn had the convo with someone but unsure who. I would put it in your welcome letter if it's super important to you. I doubt 100% that anyone would be offended. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Never really thought about professional Photos. I think people don't want all those iPhone photos posted shortly after the ceremony. Most brides/grooms I've seen take some from a family or friends camera (like me) and posts those a day or two later to show the world--while they await their professional photos. Since those can take many months to come It would be hard to ask people to wait that long but again that's your individual decision. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It was beyond frustrating but for the best I got that size. A size bigger would have needed ++ taken in, so one let out was cheaper. Hurts the ego though so I get what you feel. Def see what they say and that corset will help you out too - mine was a zipper! Don't add too much stress to yourself though on losing weight -- see what your options are. Good luck. Love that cake topper too! I also ordered one then changed my mind Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Try not to feel bad. I ordered the dress size I had on in the store. Fit like a glove. When I went back to look at BM dresses I tried it on again and it was almost big! Well fast forward to when my dress came in -- barely did up then they told me it wasn't stretched like the ones in store -- well thanks consultant for telling me that! But that said they still stand behind me ordering that size -- said it's easier to let out one area than take in 3. That said thankfully I just needed the upper portion let out but was such a piss off and had me in tears often. Worked out though as will yours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How Involved Is Your Fiancé In The Planning?
calgarybride2015 replied to deecol's topic in Newbies!!
Mine was a bit of both, but more hands off. He had a large say in the big decisions like the resort, dates, guest list, etc. but let me take the reins on the rest. I would ask his opinion when needed but sometimes his responses, while funny looking back, were rather annoying at the time. Like I would bring up their outfits and he would say he wanted to wear banana hammocks! lol! men! I finally had to sit down and tell him that when I come to him for an opinion it is because I can't make the call on my own, for one reason or another, and I need his serious opinion. It caused me some stress, but we worked thru it. I did a lot on my own, but when I actually asked him to help he would. He helped make the invitations - I hate measuring and cutting so he did that and near the end he helped a lot with assembling the OOT cups and tying tags on fans, etc. I think I like he left lots to me, not sure I could of handled another me hahah!!! I liked being able to make most of the calls and just getting his opinion when I couldn't decide. that said, he always knew what I was doing, he just liked it all / is laid back that we didn't bump heads on that stuff. -
hello! On our invites we just directed people to our wedding website for more information. On our website we had information on booking, the prices, RSVP, resort information/good to know tips, etc. As we went along we had an updates page for things that changed or were being firmed up and had the wedding day timeline. Also had the bridal party, pictures, etc. The tips page had things like what types of clothes to bring, what extras to bring like bubba mug, enough sunscreen and such, meds, tipping money, not to drink their water, things we had learned about the resort (bring snorkeling gear, water shoes, etc.) In our pre-travel brochure we did the wedding day timeline, welcome drinks, what an all inclusive means, things to remember - reiterated what was on the website, then talked about tipping, having your passport, immigration card, where to get transfers, etc. Also mentioned our wedpics account. A couple days before we left we also emailed everyone and reiterated most things and firmed up times. We did a welcome gift - we did a tumbler with a hangover kit inside (advil, tums, pepto, mentos, hand sani, nail file, emergen c, bandaids, etc.) I'd show you my wedding website but I deleted it -- I know I cut and paste my list in here somewhere if I can find the post. You can see my pre travel brochure in my planning thread on page 1

Yes thank god for people able to help! We had 11 bags and once we got near the exit of the Cancun airport they wouldn't let us use the carts/trolleys anymore, thankfully we still had some friends around us (even with 30+ people on our flight together we got separated) and there would have been no way we could have lugged that all alone!

Destination Wedding Money Savers?
calgarybride2015 replied to ChelseaDeepak's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
wow that is a large price difference. In your case I would have probably went for the ipod or buying our own sound system! That's what I truly loved about our resort -- they didn't overprice the extras. What did you decide on? -
That cute!!! I wanted a large bag too and ended up with a weekender type bag - scored with a Stella and Dot 75% sale and got it for $55! It's massive. I used it and a roller suitcase as my carry ons and noone said a word! I'm also to scared to get waxed down there so you are braver than I Ohhhhhh it's coming quick. So excited for you. We weren't going to do gifts as we paid for the wedding ourselves - like this was our gift to eachother but I found Shawn a silly shirt I knew he'd love. Since he knew I had gotten him something he surprised me with a pandora charm for my collection. We just exchanged gifts in the am but opened them with our bridal party members for photo opps later as we got ready. I wrote Shawn a long heartfelt card but he didn't hahahah!!! The shirt is cute as Shawn always calls himself a ninja. I would have done a watch for him but I had gotten him one last Christmas. I had no other ideas than a boudoir shoot but I'm too shy and cheap! Haha they are pricey here! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I agree. I like #1 best. You will be so in your world that unless you write it in your vows (if you are doing those) you will forget. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh no! Do you have record of your color of choice being clear? If they messed up, I think they should either exchange for the right color or atleast refund your money! I realized you had them shipped to the states but you do still have some time for this to be made right. I second what @@TinkerSofi said about the colors, although those are your wedding colors. Maybe play around some and see if you can find a compromise that will show thru the darker blue. Worst case you could try to sell them, but I think I would start with #1 and see what the company would do for me.

Ohhhh my experience was good but not always! Growing up AC was the only one who flew to our small northern town. Only within the last year or two WJ came in. That said I've had issues with all airlines whether it be delays, lost baggage, over bookings, etc. Thankfully the wedding went fairly smooth. Costa Rica sounds wonderful. Everyone I know who has been lists it as their favorite. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
