  1. What is zucchini pasta? I just have low cal rice to substitute. Although had spaghetti squash for the first time last week - that's yummy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. @@vancouverpetunia Yes! this summer will be hard for us as we won't have a place to stay. Up until last year my husband shared in the expense to have a place there so we had somewhere to stay all summer! Well the guy decided to move in with his girlfriend and we needed wedding money --- sooooo this summer should be interesting. My sister's brother in law has a place over Okanagan Lake in Vernon so we are hoping we can stay there heheh!!!! It is a beautiful area. We did reminders as well, definitely at 2 weeks out, and then at 1 week out. We even had people book after the deadline but our TA was able to secure them the same price. Thankfully most people booked in time! We had 4 people book outside the group but that was ok! We had more than enough book with us to get some of the freebie/discounts! Is your fiance originally from the Vancouver area? I am actually from northern BC (born in Terrace but mainly lived in Fort. St. John) I have been in Calgary for 15 years though!
  3. YAY!!! another new thread First off, I LOVE the story about how you met. That is such an awesome story and to tie the knot in the same country is just fabulous. Congrats! Where in the Okanagan are you from? My husband is from Kelowna and I really love the area (yes, 2013 was the first time I had been - man I missed out all these years) We also considered a wedding at a winery there, but the cost was high and as you know the summer time is huge for the area so guests finding cheap hotels, etc. was probably slim to none, it just wasn't going to work! We still go out a few times a summer to use our boat -- his dad still lives there and some friends. Man! I wish I could move there but who can afford it? My only advice with respect to the deposits is to hang in there. Most of our guests booked in the last 2 days!!! it was super stressful but it all worked out 3 months married now and having a destination wedding was the best thing we could have ever done. I look forward to seeing your wedding planning evolve.
  4. Here is mine. 4 tables of 8-10 and then the head table for 8. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. If you wanna hop on etsy sooner. The seller was smiling blue dog out of BC! Was about $10. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. My dad is also remarried and HE mentioned my mom in his speech everyone knows who your mom is and that they once were married and I think it all should be fine. I talk about my mom to my step mom. She knew her It's a clasp. I had scissors and just cut some of the ribbon to attach it. I could have also just attached it at the top of the ribbon without fully using the clasp if that makes sense. I can take a better pic later and show you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I lost my mom 11 years ago. Hugs to you. I had considered putting her picture on the signing table but in the end got a bouquet charm and I had her picture in it (see attached). It's from etsy and a Canadian seller if you are interested. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I may have lost 7 my first week so I figured that was all water. That was so long ago lol. I fell off track around the wedding and have 15-20 to lose and it's hard!! Trying to follow the plan that worked before but no results yet - will give it 2 weeks and come up with plan b. hahaha my weekends are hard. Love beer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I also felt guilty but my BM's would have nothing of it. They paid $120 for their dress and then for their hair and makeup. I didn't think they would do that and just do it on their own but they wanted too. No one even batted an eye, but for all the weddings between us the bridal party always paid for that stuff so I guess for us it was normal. I did buy all their shoes, jewelry and extra gifts to show my appreciation.
  12. I am so strict with my calories and I work out 3 times a week (not 2 times a day mind you) and I can't pull that off!!!! And I have lost over 100lbs! MAN!!!! give me your genes, I am jealous! oh and lemon water is my favorite. My co-worker bought me this infuser water bottle, so I add a whole lemon to the bottom of the bottle and there is a filter. LOVE IT!
  13. I only have one Bridesmaid in Calgary, the other 2 live 10-12 hours away! What we did was going out the two of us one day to David's Bridal and try on all the dresses. The top 3 we liked we sent them each a picture and let them choose. In the end all 3 loved the same dress so we picked those ones. Before I purchased them I asked the girls if they were ok paying $120 for the dress (I paid for $40 of each dress) and they said yes. They sent me their measurements and I ordered them. They just paid me back. No one seemed phased by it.
  14. Wow how does one lose 10lbs in a week? On a good round for me that would take 4-6 weeks!!! Congrats. Nice work on the price drop - that's awesome. Everything is coming along great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. @@AllieH, I also agree My dress is sitting dirty in my basement in its garment bag. Don't think paying for it to be cleaned is worth the $$$$ may give it away for free but they have to get it cleaned themselves. Not sure yet!
  16. I wish I would have done the sparkler first dance!!! so romantic. Those pictures are such keepsakes!
  17. Last year our dresses were $160 at David's Bridal, but unsure what they would be today! I would suggest checking out prom type stores or special occasion type stores - we have some in Calgary but I know those won't help you Also stores like 'Laura' has a formal section where I know a co-worker of mine scored her bridesmaid's dresses. Try SEARS and the BAY! They also have some fancier things. Those bridesmaid's dresses were soooo hard for me to find. I was trying to stay under $100 each and it was soooo hard to find something in fuchsia. I finally just gave up and went to David's! Hopefully your color is easier to find than mine! Love your hair choices!!
  18. PV in January 2015 was super cheap - the grand palladium for us was $1250 from Calgary. We didn't choose this location but did receive that pricing. Prices are definately jumping!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I found emergen-c on sale at Walmart for $10 but here it's regularly $14 I also found that $5 off coupon! So paid around $5 per box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hopefully one day it will have the 'unread' list so it's easier to navigate hehe. Maybe it does now but couldn't find it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. No I didn't do sparklers. Timing would depend on a few things -- will you leave before everyone else? we closed down the party, so by that time a lot of the older folk had left as well as some of the quieter crowd (ie not party animals) so there wouldn't have been everyone to enjoy it. With that said, maybe a couple ideas: first dance, entrance into reception Read your other post, I actually think the sparklers would keep people's attention on the dance, because it adds some fun! hahah seriously I am sure only 1/2 of my guests watched the whole first dance. And you will be so in your own world you won't even notice them - you will see them, then you will forget they are there! Would make for some pretty pictures Where to buy them? no idea, the only bride I can think of on here who used them also rented her decor from the lady in PDC and if memory serves me correct, she got them for the bride. I would assume Walmart would sell them, but maybe as your WC? Hope that helps some!
  22. @ When you go to download the BDW app (in the istore anyways) one of your posts is shown!!!! Check it out.
