  1. Most things were in the bags so they were easy to carry. Then I also had a mid sized tupperware container (think size of 2 pairs of shoes) that I brought some of the loose items in, in my suitcase to protect them. I put stuff in there and carried that as well. We needed some extra hands but everyone wants to help With respect to the vases, hmmmm maybe bring a collapsible box? Or buy sand here from the dollar store and have the WC assemble them for you? They had easily 10-15 different colored sashes, if you are worried that it match perfectly then maybe send them an email and ask for the spreadsheet that shows all the colors. In our meeting we just had her show us the spreadsheet of colors and I picked the one I wanted. Hope that helps!
  2. Omg yay you are so close. I'm so excited for you. Make sure to slow down and take it all in. We say it a lot but it's so true Your welcome book is fantastic. I love the 'to hot for you' part because it's oh so true!!! Hate winter Please post pics of the ring too. Sounds like a wonderful surprise. Congrats again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Great job!!! All looks great. I used real candles at the GS and they just went around and lit them for us. Thankfully they were in a holder that sheltered them from the wind. But candles are definately allowed. If you are worried about leaking definately just pack them in a ziplock bag. Maybe have all the tags pre done and then in Mexico get some girlfriends to help attach them and it'll be done in 10 mins. I had a girls hour the night before our meeting with the WC and we got all our stuff made and in order. I had a large ziplock bag for each table, etc and put everything per table in it with instructions written on the bag. I pre wrote the instructions back home on the bags. 4. Congrats! I married at another resort but I've been around the boards awhile lol. The symbolic weddings in Mexico mimic a real wedding but they just aren't legal. The only part is that you generally don't have witnesses sign and you don't so the thumbprint. The only people who may realize it's not legal are the ones who've been to a legal Mexican wedding. At my wedding I wanted to ensure it looked as legal as possible so I asked my wedding coordinator to adjust the symbolic paperwork to have a room for witnesses to sign and they had no issues with this. Otherwise the ceremony is like a legal one with rings, kissing, and vows if you wish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hehe it's a second cup. I believe it's either beside Claire's or EB Games. I bought my gym bag in there. Some good items and decent prices. I go to cross iron way way to frequently. We just live to close Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. The maracas were the easiest to bring actually!! I got close to 50 in a small carry on sized suitcase!!! @@yycbride2016 remind me again who you are flying with? Do they offer perks for the bride/groom? If not I would get your TA to advocate for some - especially extra luggage. We flew Air Canada and got upgraded to first class. With that and our 2 kids we got 6 suitcases included at a higher weight limit (although I tried and couldn't get a 70lbs suitcase lol). Then for carry on I brought a very large weekender type bag and a 20 inch suitcase and no one questioned it. Their website said you could have two so I ensured I had the largest size they allowed for each. So for our family of 4 that was another 8 bags!!! We didn't need them all. 7. The safes was odd but I think it depends on your airline. Not all had a cost as I heard from Canada, Air Transat they were included. Otherwise I had minimal complaints. Also from Cancun it was about an hour on the bus. Any questions please feel free to ask! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Congrats! I would have recommended my resort the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya but it's about 1 hour from Cancun! Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I couldn't find them on their website, but I am glad to hear they are expensive and you found cheaper! haha! then I don't feel bad giving you another idea IKEA has some nice stuff. Had I have went there early on in my planning I may have had a different 'theme'. You are doing great! I think everyone has different eyes for proofreading! It definitely made me nervous going forward, but thankfully Vistaprint always had sales so i didn't pay full price! heheheh, ok on my iphone you can't see the candle holders you bought 100%, but on the large screen those ones at BBW are almost identical! Awesome buy!
  10. You might hate me but Bath and Body Works had these candle holders out today. A couple different sizes. They were turquoise and had 'rope' around them. I will find a link! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I'm no help. Shorts came from Bootlegger and tops from Tip Top Tailers. Also recommend trying Le Chateau in addition to the great suggestions above. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Yay!! Congrats and good luck. Remember to slow down and take it all in. Can't wait to hear all about it and see pics Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I will chime in too I believe you are marrying at the Grand Sirenis right? I thought I read that somewhere, but when I go back and read this post I can't seem to find it. -- What do you think of flying out a photographer instead of paying for one? Resort is quoting me about $1500 for the day to take pictures of the wedding.. One of kennys friends offered to do it but we have to pay for his trip. We are thinking of flying him out for the day before the wedding, wedding day, and day after ($1100!) - saves us $400 and we have 3 days of photos?! What do you think? Has anyone done this before? I am not against this idea whatsoever. But as another bride said, make sure this guy is your style! Whether it be your friend, the resort, or an off site photographer. Just have to find one that matches your style and your budget! -- Hair and makeup for my girls .. I dont know if they expect it to be done. Its quite costly I think to have it done for all my maids (4 girls, 1 guy - so just 4 in total). Or I am thinking of treating my mother and mother in law to hair/makeup instead? Thoughts? My girls paid for their own. They had the option to do it themselves or at the spa. They gladly did hair / makeup at the spa. I kind of asked around and everyone I knew had to pay for their own when they were in a wedding, so I assumed this was the norm. Given it was another expense for them, they did have the option. At the Grand Sirenis, I believe they have a bridesmaid hair/make up combo special. Was around $125 Canadian. -- How far out do the men have to get their suit fittings? Recommendations? Our men didn't need fittings, so I am no help. But if you are wanting summer attire just make sure you shop for it between June -Aug, we went looking for short sleeved shirts in September and it was slim pickings. -- How much decor to you think I can realistically bring myself? I want to bring all my own flowers (silk flower bouquets), I would love to bring my own chiffon for the chair covers. Favours, and lighting (tea lights, string lights, etc). Am i outrageous to bring that much? Just depends how many suitcases you want! I had about 3 for wedding stuff. Then all my jewelry and breakables in my carry on. The cost at the GS for the chiffon bows was less than $2 a pop, so unless you get a smoking deal to bring your own, may not be worth it. I brought 48 tumblers with oh shit kits, 48 maracas, 20+ votive sized candle holders and candles, 5 vases (laid flat) 5 picture frames, a large chest for guest book, 2 other larger frames for guest book table, banner, cake topper, all my guestbook supplies, 45 fans, 100 glow sticks, flower girl pail, ring bearer shell, hmmmm what else.
  14. Yikes!!! I'd wait for something to arrive if it's 75% cheaper! That's expensive!! I had found a seller on etsy that had them for like $10 for 40 ish. Not sure I still have them favorited though but they were a Canadian seller. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I know the feeling. I had 3 people proof read my pre travel mailer and I noticed a spelling mistake. I ordered more!!! Hopefully everything with your BM works out now the advice you received was great! At some point, I agree, the convo has to take place because planning must go on with ordering of dresses and gifts ... And if you need to ask another friend to step in, etc. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Ebay too. Marina got lots from china for super cheap but you'd have to wait probably a month to receive them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I noticed in your post that Tuesday was spelt wrong but I assumed that wasn't cut and paste from the actual invite. But wanted to mention it just incase. You did a marvellous job and they are beautiful. The star fish charms add a great touch!! They are a labour of love that is forsure. You got some great finds at Home Sense. It'd tough not to keep on buying Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. They are nice. I was tempted to buy some the week before we left. I also saw some at Superstore a month back in white blue or orange. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. So glad they turned out well. Great company. Our parents got them this week too and loved them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I used suitcases and just stacked the ones I didn't need on the way home inside themselves. Truth be told though I had only one extra to stack on the way home because our dirty clothes took up so much room lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. @@TinkerSofi is doing sunglasses. She may be able to chime in where on eBay she got them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. The convertible dresses look awesome. Let us know if you order it and how it turns out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. He could have something else, maybe water as it's clear too and noone would ever know an idea if you want to do this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I didn't know about RW&Co either. They should as there is such a market. I also find J Crew kinda pricey! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
