  1. That's awesome!!! I may be a bit older though hehe I worked once with a girl who was born on the same day and the same year! I didn't believe her till she showed me her ID! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Oh score!!! I didn't even look on EBay for toppers!! Good call Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hahah I made a similar Leo comment. I'm August 11 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I think the issue is more people getting in and out of the chairs. A lot of mine had fallen/slid down by the end of the night -- so definitely ask them to tie the chair sashes on very secure just in case!!! They look fantastic and hanging lanterns would look great as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. He promises me he will find nice hotels he stayed in decent places for $20 a night! But I'd love a little hut on the water like you see in those dreamy pics Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Shawn wants to go back to Thailand. I believe Phuket? I think I'd like to go to Jamaica but I will have to compromise on the AI at some point hehe he's more a backpacker. I'm more hotel Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. She said it was rated above as 5*. She attended a wedding there!! I'm excited to hear what you think. We are planning our one year - country unknown - but I'd like to splurge a bit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Ohhhh the El Dorado!! My sister has stayed there and said nothing compares enjoy!! Hehehe I was in Michaels the day before we left. One night we were bored and my husband (being a smartass) says 'hey wanna go walk around Michael's?' Men!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Custom fees always make me wonder. Honestly, I've ordered a lot online over the years and I only paid custom fees once. I always wonder why some so and some don't?? Maybe the way they label the packaging I guess.
  10. @@snswedding2016 You make a valid point! We wanted to get a joint card because we wanted to get travel points for trips! Shawn uses his card a lot for work expenses, so we figured why not cash in on that. When we went into the bank to get it I didn't realize at the time they would be swapping my credit card over to the Avion and Shawn would just be an authorized user. WHAT?? That said I guess it is technically my card, but he can see the transactions thru his online banking. So I couldn't really surprise him using that card -- I do have a line of credit that is only mine so if push came to shove I could use that. Never event thought of that until you mentioned it. @@acw271011 I apologize your thread was hijacked
  11. Looks lovely! Have you purchased your cake topper yet? If not, I have the perfect person on Etsy I got mine from. They had all sorts of sayings and all sorts of colors in sparkle or no sparkle. What you showed above would be in her store. Her store is called Chicago Factory (think it might be one word). If you are interested let me know.
  12. I think that's where our issues came from -- we went to a joint account and both cheques went into it. There was no 50/50 bills and what was left over we could use as we pleased. So he felt stress to spend any money blah blah. Just had to talk I thru. We now just run larger purchases past eachother first. Like 'hey I really want those new sandals is that ok this month?' Not like we'd say no but more out of respect. Shawn just leaves it to me and after I pay all the bills, do savings and have budgeted I tell him what's left lol @@TinkerSofi I appreciate your concern/thoughts about the 50/50 and what's left for each of you is what you get even though Juan makes more. My friend is married and does this. She has NOtHING left over each month and her spouse has tonnes. Causes a lot of issues amongst them and she is trying to come up with something better but he isn't as easy going and level headed as we are. I feel for her. Seems so unfair. 13. I went with fuchsia off the hop because it's my fave color!! But at the time I didn't realize you could have as many colors as you wanted lol. As time went on I added orange and turquoise. I did the whole bright colors cause that screams ME but all I'm saying is -- use as many colors as you love. Some times I wonder what I would have done different had I have realized I could have an entire palette early on My colors would be the same I'm sure but I may have used them differently !!! 14. My resort was in line with AF for steaming. I believe it was upwards of $160!!! I said 'no thanks' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Awe hun I am so sorry to hear what you have went thru. I hate to admit this, but I feel that maybe your seamstress was inexperienced!!! The only reason I say this is because I had my dress taken out twice and she had to replicate the bead work and you couldn't even tell she touched it. I understand if they have to add more material the shades could be off (but you would think she would find one that matched) but not being able to duplicate the bead work shocks me!!! I had spoken to a few seamstress' and none had any concern over replicating. I guess it's quite common. Why did I have to have my dress taken out you ask? Well, I was misinformed at David's Bridal. Well I believe I was. When I tried on the dress in the store it fit like a glove. I was over the moon I would have to have NO work done except a bustle and a hem. Well I got it in May and when it arrived I was like 'what' It did up but it was super snug. I lost some weight, did my thing, and it just never felt the same. When I brought it in for alterations the lady basically was like 'I don't want to do this up or I will blow the zipper' LOL!! I called David's Bridal and they re looked at all my measurements and said they would have done the same size -- apparently you can tell I would need to have it taken out in the back, but she said that if I had gotten the size up I would have needed extensive alterations, so taking it out some was easier and cheaper. OK BUT NOONE TOLD ME THAT!!! So that's my story! (there is the full story in my planning thread somewhere) I am so glad you were able to find a dress that you love, even if it is over budget a bit. I think once you got all that work done on the old dress you would probably have paid more!! So this is probably just for the best. Less stress about worrying if you will fit into it or not. I cried a lot worried my dress wouldn't do up in Mexico!! Not worth the stress my dear. I agree with @@TinkerSofi that you should definitely try to sell your original dress and even your new dress if you didn't want to hold on it. I have been thinking about selling mine but I honestly don't want to spend the money to clean it, because I know I can't get that money back! I may sell it super cheap but they have to clean it themselves. Can't wait to see your new dress.
  16. We had arguments and tears, I won't lie but we worked thru it. We learned a whole lot more about eachother thru it. Debt stresses me out. We had one run in with a large credit card bill but thankfully ironed that out before we got a joint card -- which just happened lol it's an adjustment -- not trying to scare you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. We realized the steamer had to touch the dress to work - or work quickly lol - and it didn't ruin the dresses. We tried on the flower girl one first as she had many layers you couldn't see just incase Love your save the dates. I totally agree we learn a lot after the fact. Glad their customer service was awesome too. Had an issue with vistaprint and in the end got two orders for the price of one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. LOL sounds like the juicer we had to have and have never used Thankfully you are getting some use out of yours, but yes that would be quite large to pack! Before you buy one I would seriously ask your guest list! You would be surprised who owns what or knows someone who would lend it to them! Could save you some money!
  19. A dress, suit and 2 BMs dresses may be a lot for one bag. Is there anyone coming who has a travel steamer? Thankfully my friend brought one as we needed it. Even hanging my dress it was wrinkled. So we did all 5 dresses. Since we knew we'd be steaming dresses my BMs just shoved theirs in their carry on lol. My husband's was more casual than a suit so he just ironed his in Mexico. Another suggestion, as said above, is asking your WC for a quote to steam everything upon arrival. Glad everyone is getting perks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I think all men are like that!!! Wonder if it's the women/motherly instinct. Haha Don't get me wrong I love to spend money, travel, have nice things but I also was a single mom for many years and I learned how to stretch a dollar... Far..... And a lot of that was coupons and waiting for sales for things like kids name brand clothes! I never buy anything without pairing a coupon with a sale. When we first got a joint account it was hard on Shawn and also on me not to analyze every dollar he spent lol. I'm letting go and he is starting to appreciate my budgeting! Thankfully we worked thru that as now I'm not working full time (by choice) but he knows what needs to happen Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Can't believe you are in the final countdown. I'm super excited for you. I love the idea to engrave Juan's ring enjoy your shower!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Omg I apologize. I read it at 7am and totally missed that part. I apologize. You've got some great ideas above -- jewelry, if she collects anything you could get her another piece, a nice framed picture of you two. Maybe something that is sentimental to when you met? Even just a heart felt card. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Welcome and congrats. Cuba is beautiful. I got engaged in Varadero. We have a couple active brides on the board right now marrying in Cuba I have no advice for the resort but I know some brides chose a resort in Mexico called the Royalton before it opened. They were still able to get wedding packages and compare against other Royalton resorts in other countries. Do you have this ability? Have you requested wedding info from them? You mention they open this winter. When do you plan to get married there? Hopefully some other brides with similar situations can shed some light. Good luck. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
