  1. Welcome and congrats!! Playa Neuvo is actually the public beach so will be less private than playa palapa. Not sure you can just upgrade your ceremony location if you have an a'la carte for your reception. If no one else is using it I believe you can. I'm sorry I have no experience with the Italian but I know it's a common one for brides to use. I've heard of people using both the snack bar and the health bar. Both with pros and cons. From what I've heard I may lean to snack bar but both would work. Maybe ask your WC which holds the most people We had everything in the palapa so these weren't decisions I had to make. What package are you going for? We took the free package and upgraded to the palapa. It's absolutely breath taking. The location is the one included in the presidential package. The flowers on the 'gazebo' are included in the wedding packages so no fee. If you have anymore questions just ask There is a FB group with alot of brides too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Is a bombinieres a favor!? Never heard the term used. I love the shot glass idea. We had contemplated it. Even having a shot with everyone at the ceremony and then they keep the glass lol. I love them both and if you think the older folk won't like the skull you can do both. I love the skull one though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. We had a long discussion about them in my planning thread. A bride from Vancouver (who sadly didn't come back to review) told me. I will see if I can find a pic and post but yes it's true. You can buy clothing tape. It's double sided. I got mine at la vein rose for $10. But if you use that tape you'll be fine. Just giving you a heads up. Hope I cause no stress!! I'll send it on fb. 4. Oh my!!! What a story. One you can tell forever. Congrats on becoming a MRS Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Love the jewelry. I really love the offset broach. You may need to tack it down with that clothing tape as it is weighted down and they move. I opted out of this for mine based on that review but my BMs had them and it's true! Love it!! The cake topper is gorgeous too. Even if it was your normal wedding. They are a reflection of who you are Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. You look fabulous!!!! Great photos. Love the BMs dresses and hair pieces too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hey! Yes the champagne toast and canapes are included. We had this immediately after the ceremony. As you walk back up the isle your WC will serve you your drink, then everyone else gets one. We had our MC (my brother in law) do a quick toast and tell everyone about group pics and he was ushering them around. Canapes were eaten during pics, my husband had one but I did not. We had our ceremony at 3pm. It lasted maybe 15 mins, then had the toast. I would say this was all over by 3:30pm maybe a bit later with all the hugs. Then we did photos from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. I was told for our group that 1.5 hours would be good - was approx. 30 mins for group and family shots, then 1 hour for us. We had more than enough time and were waiting to enter the reception right for 5pm. During the photos I paid for an open bar and mariachi band to entertain the guests. Since the palapa is secluded, I didn't want people to venture off, or take the shuttle back to the bar and then not make it back in time. So people just hung out and talked and watched us do pics. That was all in all 2 hours. So you could have your dinner for 7pm unless you don't want a lot of photos taken. We have have everyone 'standing around' but everyone knew eachother and mingled and chatted. Noone complained. Most were tipsy because the waitresses work hard! lol! The reception flowed due to our MC. I didn't give him a timeline because I fly by the eat of my pants but it worked well. When we had our intros we then our family gave their speeches. Then we had the buffet. After that we did a fun game or two, did the first dances, then we danced. About 30 mins before the photographer left we did cake (my MC knew this so ensured it happened) then we were available to take photos with whoever wanted them before she left. Then we partied till it was over. I had a 6 hour reception. Hope that helps some! EDIT - the cocktail hour between the ceremony and the reception does NOT happen in the palapa but on the beach. They are working hard to move all the chairs into the palapa from the ceremony. I had rented 5 tables/20 chairs so people had a place to sit but they forgot them (lol) we got our money refunded. I do recommend if you do the cocktail hour to get the tables/chairs.
  8. Just in case Jenny isn't on the boards anymore, she got married at Playa Palapa and had her reception in the palapa. This is what I did in January! It is just past the Disco on site if you ever went there during your stay. It's super private. We took the free package and upgraded to the palapa as there was lots in the presidential package we didn't want. If you have any questions I am happy to answer them and you can see my planning thread and wedding pictures below Good luck!
  9. Those are awesome. Everything looks great and your guests will love them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. We paid for everything by credit card. We just had to ensure our credit card limit was enough. The resort is charged in peso. The resort photographer in US dollars. If you use someone off site you'll have to ask how they wanna get paid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I hope you have a fabulous week. By the time you post pictures I may already be gone (I leave the 17th) so I will eagerly await them upon my return!!!! Good luck! Don't worry, just go thru all your drawers, closets, craft areas and take everything you may need -- you will be fine!!! Congrats again!
  12. I'm an outsider jumping in! That DJ price does sound expensive and I understand your dilemma as you may only have 15 people. I'm going to guess that the sound system is actually what's already in place by the resort for the DJ or the ceremony or whatever so it would be of decent quality -- meaning it's probably already wired in. There are DJ wedding apps for you as well that brides us. We have a bride here now leaving tomorrow who is using it @@TinkerSofi who will give us a review upon her return. That would be an option and if you have an MC they can man it should it be needed. I believe the DJ apps can be made to work themselves You will figure it all out. Will come down to what is more important to you or not. I have a coworker who married at the Barcelo, I'll ask her too!!! And... As a Canadian i feel your $$ pain! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Beautiful photos. I'm so happy you had a special day... Congrats again. Enjoy every minute in Mexico!! Can't wait to hear all about it when you are back Are you staying for 7 days? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Yes vistaprint is super quick that way!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. You look fantastic!!! Congrats on being a MRS now @@krystalball it was pricey. I think express was $160 and cheaper if the dress was gone longer. No thanks! Easier to bring a steamer and it can be used on all the girls dresses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Lol of you'll have more than one suitcase of mugs! I did tumblers and got about 42 in a large 30 inch suitcase. Unless you can stack the ones you decide to get inside eachother Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. OMG!!!! this is it, I am so excited for you!!! Congrats on your legal ceremony today -- I am so sorry she couldn't adjust the time for you. I am sure your dance is fabulous, I hope that someone records it so we can watch it later on!!! I would need a few drinks too LOL!!! Good luck today ..... two more sleeps until you leave to Mexico and have the week (and day) of your life.
  18. Wow that is fantastic they have all put down deposits!!! I think we invited less people because we feared they would all come -- hahah doesn't that sound hilariously terrible? We invited around 64 and had 42 come! To be honest, I didn't have a back up for rain and didn't even ask about it. What I would assume is that you would have your ceremony in the chapel, then the palapa or the a'la cartes are sheltered. It won't rain, so don't worry :) All the ideas you are throwing around for your wedding locations sound fantastic. The area by the palapa is gorgeous, so you really can't go wrong with any!!! You will figure it out.
  19. Awe shucks I knew 100 was a bit tight to have a dance floor just from my visual of the place. Could you maybe have dinner on the beach, but then have some tables/chairs set up in the palapa for the drinking and dancing? I am sure in the end that may cost some extra money, though I am not totally sure, but it would allow you to get what you wanted -- the palapa. I know a lot of people who have used the a'la cartes for their receptions but honestly I don't have pictures of it. Some have it closed for them so they can dance in the restaurant, then some do the private parties after (at beach bqq or health bar locations) but with 100 people that would be tight for space too. Did 100 people already confirm their deposits so this number is a pretty forsure number or just RSVPs? That's a huge number!!!!
  20. Congrats!!! Love your photos. You guys look so happy! Hope he's ok, so share a bit more!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. 80k?? What currency are we talking here. That's more than a lot make in a year at work!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Wow they are beautiful!!! She did a fabulous job and you guys are lovely. My fave was 15:/18 where you were kneeling and the large tree was in the distance. So exotic feeling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. @@dreamweddings may be able to help!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I think your cake idea will be gorgeous, not tacky whatsoever. Also the flowers look great and considering it's really for the photos -- no one will remember your cake I think they will work fine Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
