In most of the packages (if not all) there is a toast with champagne and canapes (appetizers) right after the ceremony. If you want more than the champagne, and want a full bar, then you need to pay for an hour for cocktails. This price is per person per hour and depends on which booze you choose (we chose the cheapest) They served the champagne but honestly can't recall if they served the canapes. An August 2014 bride on here stated her friend went around serving them as the waitresses didn't. I never had a canape to be honest (so busy with pics and congrats) but I swear from a picture one had a shrimp on it lol I am wondering if 103 people is just too much food for the BBQ menu and they are worried they don't have the space in the palapa to be able to put more out??!?!! that's my only guess. From time to time I see people on here who do the plated meal and have had no complaints. But I totally appreciate the cost difference. Unsure re a beach bash, but honestly, I would take that over an a'la carte. So for me, the extra cost for the palapa is worth it. Back before I got married, had I have been in your situation I would have doubted it too, but now being a bride -- if you can't have the palapa have the beach, but I wouldn't do the a'la carte. It's that gorgeous out there and you don't want regrets. Good luck ladies!

I also would use peso, not only is the exchange better it is their currency! Just ensure you give enough - i.e. Don't tip $1 peso for a dollar tip $10 peso or whatever. Don't waste your money in converting to US haha this is a large pet peeve of mine We had 4 of us. We started with 2 stylists but they brought in a 3rd. Ok for hair but recommend sticking to one lady for the BMs makeup as you'll find they vary in what they do. My one BM felt her makeup just wasn't the same as the other two so their stylist re did it. -- id recommend Carmen and Isis. We started at 9am and with a quick lunch at the spa restaurant got back to our room shy of 200pm! Remember that shuttle can take time to make its rounds to the spa so budget extra time for this. If you do a trial of hair the wedding day goes faster (I found anyways) I was there in Jan 2015 and had no issues with mosquitos Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Welcome and congrats! I think the reason you may not be finding reviews of the in house DJ and spa is that they are in house and not a company per say. You may have luck finding reviews on them if you hit up the resort reviews section of this website and see if any brides commented on the services within their reviews. Or thru the numerous threads on here of your resort (which sounds like you've done). Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love everything!!! I really want song lyrics for my house I also agree it's fun and exciting and scary when you've hit a spot when it's risky to order from the states! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I didn't have a play list for the reception. My WC asked me at dinner what he should play haha. I had only chose the 3 songs needed for the ceremony. It's sandal season now so I bet (if you want sandals) a quick trip to the mall will yield plenty of selection. Not sure on favors. I ordered maracas but you won't have time to ship. Hmmmmmm

Pre Travel Oot?
calgarybride2015 replied to RoxRoy2015's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Since most live in Toronto I think handing out before you go is a good idea. Shipping may turn out costly! Since everyone stayed at the same resort I just did ours there. We did pre travel mailers which includes a brochure and luggage tags! Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
We had no issues whatsoever. They have a sound system and the DJ plays music off a laptop. High tech? Not really but it's also a fraction of the cost of hiring a Mayan DJ like discomovil. The music was loud, clear and didn't skip. He played what we wanted - we didn't provide a list just told them the genres we liked and he took requests. Good luck with your wedding and congrats

@@WPGBride17 The beach bar isn't for the reception per say-- you would eat in the a'la carte and the beach bar would be the party after! It has separate pricing and includes alcohol, no food. For the palapa you would pay the upgrade fee if you don't have a package that includes the palapa. On top of that fee you would pay for your meal - so either beach BBQ buffet or the plated meals. The alcohol is included in the 3 hour rental of the palapa, but if you want to extend your reception time you would pay a price per person per hour for the alcohol. At the time I married kids under 12 were free and get a separate kids menu with the typical kids meals you'd see anywhere. You order beforehand (either by email or at your on site meeting) so make sure you ask your friend's what types of meals their kids would want. I think all of ours got cheeseburgers and fries. Hope that helps. PS - things might have slightly changed since 2015 but I am sure the bones are the same.

Interesting. It's funny how nuts they went over Ebola when TB kills millions a year and gets less funding and exposure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
