  1. Our sun set at 530pm in January. I had originally booked for 330pm as I was told to start 2 hours before. I moved it to 300pm because I was worried they'd start late and we'd run out of time for pics. There was no concern, 330pm would have been fine. We needed exactly 2 hours for ceremony, toast, group pics and bride/groom pics. That's with 45 people total. More people would need more time. Also if you make sure you put someone in charge of all the group/family photos you want and they move it along/get people ready that helps speed things up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Yes! It starts to add up. My frames for the tables were actually double sided so I had a table number on one side and a picture on the other. Even just a couple wouldn't hurt space too much heheh I'm not helping am I? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Congrats!! Your room definitely counts as far as I know!!! I used it in my totals You aren't behind but I'd say you may wanna start looking at dresses soon. They can take 3-5 months to come in if you order one, sometimes longer. Then if needed alternations can take a couple months. Decor and a plan all comes in time. I had a general plan but really just let the WC and my MC figure it out Congrats on finding your ring and getting it 35% off can't wait to see pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Jamaica is on the list Maybe for our 1 year in January!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Generally it is suggested to start your ceremony 2 hours before sunset. Gives you time for the ceremony, group shots, and then bride/groom shots if that is what you are hoping to have done. The big thing I was told for the Mayan is that you don't get nice sunsets like here at home, the sun just vanishes and it's dark out.
  6. I agree hehe at the end of the day there is sooo many reasons why you could say the regular tables are in the palapa and honestly, I can almost bet $10 that he'll forget because he's so caught up in the day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I thought it was 6 months but if you are close you may be fine. I'd probably google search it for Mexico's rules or see what you can find on passport Canada's site. I changed my name too but have been traveling under my maiden name (boarding passes) cause it matches my passport. Haven't been willing to cave yet as I have 2 years left. But may cave soon, have been debating this. I don't get the expiry rule. Why have an expiry date if you hit snags BEFORE that date. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I feel you 100%. Similiar but not the same -- I signed a contract at work for reduced hours daily as I had no childcare for my kids. They took it back and wouldn't even let me take 15 mins less at lunch so I could still get my kids to school (cause taking a 1 hour lunch appears to be mandatory lol). Could I have found care and made it work? Sure but they gave me a contract then revoked it, so I quit. I hated the place anyways -- that was just the final straw hahah. 9. I'd say given it upsets you and you are 7 months out is justification enough one less lunch out or a couple Starbucks makes up the fee. Heheh I'm trying to help (although I have no idea if you eat out or like Starbucks!!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Is their spin bikes at your home gym you can use and just mimic the program? That sucks!!! Even at 50% if it offers what you love to do, the cost may be worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Agree 100% I hear a lot of people workout hard hard hard and their deficit is too large. The body and muscles need food to do their job!!!! And my fave saying 'you can't out exercise a bad diet' your diet is so important as you've said. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Haha I'd just order the regular tables and wink at him as you enter the reception Or tell him the WC doesn't allow it given their instability to hold all the plates and drinks haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. That does suck! @@JoannaBanana I have no idea how we got it. Not sure if it was the amount booked or a perk at the time? But it was first come first serve so we almost missed it. Got the last seats. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Helen I can't speak for extensions but they do fake eyelashes for free in the cost of the makeup. Those are just glued on and remove easy. You may have to email the spa or your WC to see if they do in fact do actual lash extensions. May be easier to have those done at home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Congrats that's super exciting. Your day in Mexico will be here before you know it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Agree 100%. Hope all is well. Take care of yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. It's a LONG walk. If you google a resort map the public beach is by the spa and the private by the disco. Basically opposite sides. You'd need to rent the shuttle (golf cart) for the day. We got lucky that the dollar hadn't dived. Calgary departures paid $1565 and Toronto $1465. I used a travel agent so that's a group price (never found it cheaper online) and we got some nice perks thru Air Canada. We got upgraded to first class which had huge perks especially for luggage and we got every 16th person free as a credit back to us!!! Worth using a travel agent for those reasons above but also to handle all the bookings and your guests questions. Bonus is your actual wedding bill is paid in peso!! Less of a conversion shock The public beach is public (they remove the loungers in the immediate area) so you'd have the gawkers if that is going to bother you. We only saw one couple at the private beach and they left right away when they saw the wedding. Ps - congrats! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Honestly it may be true but I had sooo many people with me we always had a large conversation or shenanigans taking place. That said there is also theme nights. One night after the show they had dance lessons in the lobby, etc. And the disco was always packed. I had no issues being entertained. If you were just a couple it may be quiet if you don't venture to speak with new people, etc. But in a group there are no worries imo Being with a group aside this was still the best we went to for entertainment thru day and night and people out and about. Most discos have like 2 people from my experience. So for me overall I noticed a positive difference at the GS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think you'll also find with so many people and so much going on you tire easier. I didn't stay up super later too many nights. I needed sleep!!! Thankfully my kids agreed so I had an excuse some nights Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Awesome! Bubba's are the best Hahah guess you can't go I'd watch them but that's a long ways from home. Maybe a kennel? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I would have to assume they'd have pack n playa of some sort but I posted this on the GS Facebook page. I'll let you know what the regulars say Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I feel your pain! Given then there is many names and only so much room on the invite, could you just use the term 'parents' Maybe something like Bride and groom, along with their parents invite you to join them...... I think it would keep it cleaner and crisper and much easier to read. Or if you really want names say something like Bride and groom, along with their parents Shelly, Steve, Bob, Mary, and Joe invite you ...... Hope you get the answer you hope for Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. The picture you've posted above is the public beach spot. You can tell as there isn't rock and you can just enter the water. I'll post a pic below of the private beach at the palapa If you are using the palapa and the private beach they are all at the same spot. When you pull up (lol in your golf cart) the chapel is to the right and the palapa to the left with the beach in front. I'll post a couple more pics. I actually had some photos taken on the steps of the chapel! No at the GS it's an actual officiant. Not always the same one but they aren't bell hops and such. The one we had, had been doing it for a long time and spoke 10+ languages. Funny enough another bride on here had the same gentleman at a different resort lol!!!! Have a couple more pics but have to get them off the pc. As you'll see in my pic below you can't enter the water. That's how you tell them apart from pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Here is a photo taken from the palapa looking out at the chuppah This is a picture from the palapa. If you can see the thatched roof thru the trees, up in the left hand corner, that's the chapel Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
