  1. I am flying Air Canada and their website states that the wedding dress is in addition to your carry on. As for the closet to hang it in, or the overhead bin -- I think we will have to wait and see what the plane is like when we board. I am planning to hang it in the humidity and/or iron it, so I won't be disappointed if it's in an overhead bin. I plan to bring everything my family is wearing to the wedding in our carry ons, including our swimsuits. We have the 2 of us and my 2 kids, so alot of extra bags. As well, my BM husband never uses a carry on so we get an extra bag there!!! Under the plane we get 4 suitcases so we should be ok. Makes me nervous to put anything for the wedding in checked baggage but the reality of it is, it will have too!
  2. Here is my ring and my wedding band together. That's my original diamond but my second mount. The original one was so unique I couldn't find a wedding band and the custom route made me nervous. LOVE this one!! Hate to be honest but it's more me All you ladies have beautiful rings!
  3. I have heard dipping can be anywhere from $100-$200. I have a platinum ring, which was initially more expensive sure, but it never needs upkeep, so over the years of dipping it, it probably is no more difference in price!
  4. LOL my family would think that was awesome and partake in it
  5. Our first dance song is the original 'All of Me' by John Legend. I seem to be only stumped on picking the bridal party's entrance song and the song for my dad and I to dance too.
  6. My attendants are my children who will be 9. My daughter was easy because I just got her jewelry but was stumped for my son. After poking around on this site I found a great idea, but possibly not good for the younger boys -- dog tags! On Etsy I found a site that will personalize them, some even had ring bearer ones with the date. I will just get my son his name. I may then find my daughter a personalized bracelet so both are similar and can be worn at the wedding. My fiance doesn't think it matters if they are worn at the wedding, but it's important to me. My daughter's dress won't allow for a necklace. Phew, nonetheless, I am buying my son a dog tag and I LOVE the idea!!!
  7. I think you should leave it too, the 20oz ones are awesome and your guests will love the gesture. They possibly won't want to pack 2 home with them or even use 2. We have these HUGE ones we bought for our last trip, and I got them at Canadian Tire for $16.99. We didn't need them that big, they are kind of hilarious to see. But EVERYONE in Cuba asked us about them. lol. I checked out the site, I would probably just do the 20oz ones but I am really not sure I am going this route anymore -- there is still a side of me that wants too though!! We already made luggage tags and bought maracas, it all adds up! And I am a stickler for keeping to the budget. I have considered just getting the bridal party the mugs though. Let me know what you decide.
  8. We honestly have put NO thought into this. I am sure at some point we will do a BBQ, but that would be 6 ish months after as we are marrying in January. I had decided, possibly, to do a bigger style party before we leave. At first I wasn't sure about a bridal shower as I read it was in poor taste to invite people who weren't invited to your wedding. But I have had so many people ask me when it is and when I express my concern they tell me I am completely silly and they would not be offended to come to a bridal shower. So I was considering having a bridal shower in the day and my stagette that evening for those who want to do both. Nothing formal, just more of a potluck with games and such, then a fun night out. Who knows!
  9. Curious to hear other people's experiences. I am marrying in the Mayan, but I did a google search and heard they lose sun around 530pm, so I scheduled my ceremony at 3:30pm for January, so all that and our pictures are done before we lose the sun. Good luck! PS - fireworks is a fantastic idea
  10. Originally my budget was $1300 with alterations but got my dress for $500!! If my body shape doesn't change much lol alterations will be around $225 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I quickly decided no veil. It's first of all not truly my style nor fits the type of casual beach wedding I'm going for -- for me I see it more formal. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Jan 21, 2015 at Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya in Mayan Riviera!! Can't wait!!
  13. I don't like country hehe... but I have started listening to some as their music is much more appropriate in speed for walking down the isle.. but I know it won't happen I just need the bridal party song!
  14. I have twins who will be 9 at our wedding... but they are boy/girl! how neat!
  15. @@MJTK did you actually buy the 'bubba' brand of mugs? Did you find a site with a good price for so many? Bubba's were our original idea but at $16.99 a pop, kind of pricey! Thanks!
  16. But think an airport goody bag is a neat idea. Saw someone on here do it. Snacks. Pens. Games. Etc for the flight and since you give them at the airport you don't need luggage space for them. Just can't put a water in it as customs would snag it. But we have 7 flying out of another city so kind of feel bad they don't get anything unless I sent $$ to my fiance's mom to make them for me. Hmmmm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I dare you he he but only if you post pictures. But hmmm let's be honest, can you even still buy them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Awesome!!! I am going to mail my letter as I made them luggage tags, but am going to direct them back to our wedding website for a more thorough list. Love your ideas. This is my idea either for the letter and/or website 1. info about the transfer at the airport and the 'helpful' people 2. costs at my resort for wifi and the in-room safe 3. recap for them (already on my wedding website) how the AI works, how to book ala cartes, what to bring clothing wise for same, time share people, and tips (sunscreen, swimsuit coverups, bubba mugs, etc.) 4. packing list 4. must haves (passport, tipping money, etc.) 5. luggage tags we are making 6. how to access our picture app so we can enjoy everyone's pictures 7. tentative idea (unless firmed up beforehand) of welcome drinks, etc.
  19. Depends! The dresses I ordered my ladies take 14 weeks to come in (nuts right?) and with alterations and such, we will be right on time for my January wedding. I ordered them in mid July. Well, this was a sore spot for me. When we got engaged and decided on a wedding location, date, etc. my fiance got so excited he just went and asked 3 people to be in his party. That left me having to find 3 and it was tough. I was always of the mind set I was NOT asking anyone to be in my bridal party until I knew they could come to the wedding. I didn't want anyone to feel pressure to go if they could not afford it, etc. I ended up with 2, and my 3rd option isn't coming. I have 2 sisters, so I wasn't sure what to do. In the end 1 said yes and 1 said no so it all worked out. Phew, so 3 bridesmaids for me My son will be the ring bearer and my daughter the flower girl!! they are super excited.
  20. I am also doing a postcard guestbook. I had my friend find me 40 postcards when she was recently in Mexico (some are dated, lol, does noone buy postcards anymore?) I plan to personalize them on the back with our names, wedding date, and location, but will have them scattered on the table for people to sign. I bought a nice box/suitcase for them to put it in when they are done. Once home I will find a album for postcards to store them.
  21. I have had a few ... 1. picking the resort 2. getting people to RSVP - and pay!! My deadline just passed and people (even my dad!) waited until the last day. At one point I assumed it would just be the 4 of us (me, fiance, and 2 kids). 3. Air Canada cancelling our flight and patiently awaiting the new one that won't mess with our wedding day
  22. I honestly considered having a sunset catamaran ride after the dinner/dance, but my fiance's mom is so deathly afraid of water he said she won't get on, so I scrapped that. Not sure if I would do a catamaran thing at another time just given this, because it leaves her out. I hadn't really thought about the 'wow factor' to be honest. The wedding is going to be fairly special itself and we put alot of thought into all the bits and pieces and made alot of things unique over 'regular' weddings. I am considering the mariachi though while we get our photos taken and they get cocktail hour. When I told my coworker, who is Mexican, the prices they charge he almost fell over!
  23. I know your wedding has passed - what did you decide? EDIT: nevermind, both look great I probably would have just went with the bubba's, they are awesome! keeps your beer cold most of the day!
