No Wedding Gifts...
calgarybride2015 replied to MrsCtoB's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
It blew me away! He had offered to pay our second week in Mexico but with having kids it's not really a honeymoon. Family not from same city as me so no one to take them! So he said it's for me to with whatever I wish. We chose Vegas as it's fun and my fiancé has never been. It's also cheap and whatever our 'budget' is I know we can get a package to Vegas fairly cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
To Veil or not to Veil?
calgarybride2015 replied to juliboley's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Wow. I can't believe they'd pressure you! I said no veil and she offered alternatives - bird cage, tiara, etc. I'm Opting for none of the above just a nice flower with a fairly basic hair do! I have shorter hair - inverted bob so not much I can do anyways Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
No Wedding Gifts...
calgarybride2015 replied to MrsCtoB's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Maybe it's just easier not to mention it anywhere?!? When I told people we weren't doing a bridal shower as I felt bad to invite people not invited to the wedding that was also not well received. In the end I think people are super happy for us and want to be apart of it somehow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
No Wedding Gifts...

We didn't mention it anywhere. When people ask we politely tell them that we are just happy they are attending. We realize people will still give and that's ok. We will also send a big thank you their way. Is it bad I just didn't mention it whatsoever? I guess, like the post above, it will make It's way via word of mouth. My dad is paying our honeymoon though which is so super nice of him but I'm only his second daughter to marry and the last one was almost 20 years ago. He's probably just over the moon. Destination Wedding Money Savers?
calgarybride2015 replied to ChelseaDeepak's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
At our resort the sound system is $42 and the DJ $59 so not much savings! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I agree with the above. If you want everyone to attend and make it an official event you should pay or at the very least pay 50%. If you list it as optional then they can pay themselves!! I like the optional one myself but not just on the cost. You will have people who don't want to go for whatever reason. I guess if you paid for the whole boat not per person you wouldn't lose money on those who don't go. Hope that made sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Ps - your friend should have listed there was a cost involved from the get go. I'm thinking being blunt is the way to go. We are going to probably do one for my stagette and it will be clearly noted as optional and what the cost is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I used a wedding website only and no one had any issues using it -- even the older folk. I would do one or the other but not both as that may confuse people. From what I've been told doesn't matter how you have them RSVP you still get people who delay and or forget! I decided to save on the stamps lol but ended up deciding on a pre travel letter so didn't save in the end Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Destination Wedding Money Savers?
calgarybride2015 replied to ChelseaDeepak's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Hello! My wedding package included mine and fiance's flowers. I was going to use pin wheels to save on cost for the BMs but when I asked for a quote it came back at $22 for the BM for 3 Gerbers so I went for it. Hehe my splurge. My centerpieces candles are only those mini white pails (people use for favors) and I found at dollarama for $1.25 for 3. Needed 18. I have enough votives at home to put in them. Also blinged them out for $1.50 at michaels. Will use pink picture frames for table numbers. $3 each at michaels and then scatter shells on the tables. $1 a bag at dollar store. I got one extra BM bouquet and will use theirs for my centerpiece flowers. Super cheap, non breakable and beachy! I made my daughters own flower girl pail. $6 pail which I painted while and tied ribbon on. My sons is a shell to hold rings. $5 at michaels. For favors we went with maracas which were $1.65 per pair at Amols. Will buy a pen to personalize. Also making luggage tags. Anything DIY will be cheaper. Once you have your ideas search on here how to do it/find templates. I am not doing OOT bags to save $$. But have decided to do a pre travel letter. I also had a strict budget for bridal party gifts. Good luck Edit: I'm trying to stick in my budget and be frugal wherever I can but also realize it only happens once. I will bend on things that really matter but not on others. It's a tough balance. How Hard Is It To Order A Bridesmaid Dress
calgarybride2015 replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Just venting or funnies
Well said. I agree 100%!!! I know it doesn't make it easy, it's tough to show that side sometimes but it's all true what you said. I had my wedding end a friendship too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'm generally the flyer who will do whatever for the best price. Ok more than 2 connectors maybe not, but 1 is ok. With the wedding though I'd like to avoid it as I realize more connectors more handling of luggage. Good luck!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How Hard Is It To Order A Bridesmaid Dress
calgarybride2015 replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Just venting or funnies
I think you need to pick a deadline... Your wedding is coming fast and you want those dresses to come in. So ya maybe do one of a few things 1. set a deadline --- either to ask them if they still want to be a BM or for the dress ordering (tell them time matters here and if not ordered by x they won't arrive by z) 2. Or just Bluntly ask them if they want to be a BM right now 3. Or just order their dresses for them now (tell them if they don't provide a size you'll pick one) of course none of us would do this but maybe it'll light a fire? Then ask someone else who shows interest. My fiancé is in a similar boat. His one GM lives in Mexico so fiancé has to get his clothes here for him and he won't respond either. Fiancé is leaving it another week or two to see what the response is if he still wants to be a GM (it's gone this fair that he's had to ask) and he's just going to ask another friend. Don't understand it whatsoever but feel your frustration. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Sister In Law- Pregnant- Helpppp
calgarybride2015 replied to BusyBee280's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
That's a tough situation. After 36 weeks pregnant most airlines won't let a pregnant lady fly even if she wanted too. I would assume atleast her mom would stay back if anyone did. If it's 4 weeks they may all come because the chances of her delivering early aren't high but I can't say Forsure what they'd do. I think it's worth a sit down and figure it all out. Good luck. Wedding Dress Prices?
calgarybride2015 replied to gkashmira's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
If they store it they have the insurance but what if? Just cause my friends sister in laws was covered it was 2 weeks before!!! I'm Happy it's at home! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I can't speak for the resort itself but if it's a no kids under 12 resort they will NOT bend the rules. So you may need another resort - I'd have a hard time asking my family and friends with kids to stay elsewhere. They MIGHT allow kids for the wedding but I imagine it would depend where your wedding is and how private. Generally you can go over your 20 rooms if they are available. My tour agent held me 15 and I took like 20 and all was swell. Good luck. Ps - your questions are suited for the general hotel itself not the wedding coordinator so maybe give them a quick call Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
