  1. ^^ maybe but she did mention the other tour operators like Sunwing and Transat were only flying from Toronto. Otherwise the bigger guys like AC are already here in Calgary doing direct flights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. This isn't a sale but if your city as a Party City store they have some good prices. Gifts. Favors. Wedding items. Stag items etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I've recently seen these at Michaels, and with a 40% off coupon they may be reasonably priced. Love Michaels but a lot is expensive without that coupon!
  4. I had a tonne of people RSVP and not pay their deposit for awhile. I focused on reminders to them before the rest as they had shown actual interest. But everyone did get a reminder. I made a spreadsheet hehe and different colors meant different things so I knew who RSVP'd. Who paid. Who was staying elsewhere, etc. At the end of the day only those who pay matter though as harsh as that sounds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Congrats! if you search for passport templates on here you will find tonnes of them.... just use the search field above There is also a DIY section you can sift thru. Good luck!
  6. I agree, everything is great but for different reasons. I have been to Cuba and Mexico. Cuba (IMO) trumps Mexico on beauty, people being friendly, and safety... but Mexico trumps it on quality of resorts and food, etc. EDIT: Ok, Mexico has VERY friendly people, I guess in Cuba we just ventured more out on our own and people welcomed us into their homes even. Just was different. When we first thought of a DW I had considered the DR because I have never been. When I initially spoke to a TA at Flight Centre they told me Mexico would be our cheapest bet. Unsure though if that is because I am out west, like someone said above. You would probably have to flight East to Toronto if you are in western Canada which would hike up the cost. Nonetheless, I thought once or twice that maybe I should have sought out more info on the DR -- so if you really want to, I say you should. You only get married once. As kmk2016 said above, there are cheaper regions to all locations. Puerto Vallarta would be cheaper than the Mayan -- in the Mayan we are paying $1565 from Calgary, but the Grand Palladium in Puerto Vallarta came back at $1250 which is A LOT cheaper... But if you wanted off the beaten path I would highly recommend looking into Ixtapa. It was 2nd on my list of resorts, but my fiance really wanted to see the Mayan. Also, I have heard that Puerto Plata in the DR is cheaper than Punta Cana. Not sure I helped at all, but good luck! And you have time, so price everything out, so you know you made the right decision!!!
  7. What's funny is that our own backyards can be more dangerous! I haven't had those comments ... Yet .... I've never been sick anywhere *knock on wood* but bring all the good to help just in case. Am slightly worried about my kids but can happen anywhere Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Awesome. That's a great idea. I'm going to see about doing something like that too cause he loves beer and sports lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I know someone who married last year in Neuvo by PV and used them. It's a neat idea though!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I ordered my fiance's gift today. It's a funny shirt because (as I said above) he always references himself as a ninja lmao Anyways I got it on eBay with shipping for about $24 Canadian. UK seller which I like as it gets here quicker than USA sellers which makes no sense. I realize this is a silly gift and it's meant to be. I know 100% it will be a huge hit and he will have it on the next day!!!!! Here's a pic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Doesn't that annoy you? The people who just completely ignored it? I have people who are married who didn't even RSVP no. I mean I'm over it and not holding a grudge (no really lol) just blows my mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hehe I don't like to talk on the phone either. And the text or email gives them info they can reference back too. There's a way to justify it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. This is what I did but in the end they all chose the same dress Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Me either lol but then I was looking at my forms from the resort and quickly added those! I had even forgot to mention the dress code. Fiance's aunt asked so I quickly added that too . I'm not overly picky so didn't cross my mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. We are using wed pics but that is different. That's more so everyone can enjoy everyone else's pictures. I think it's something that's going to be heard of more and more as everyone is into smartphones or similar devices and social media. I think that it's fair to ask and people should respect your wishes, as they would your dress code but still it's not 100% fool proof. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. You bet!!! I think I had one person (my dad) not RSVP but he did pay. What I liked about making them RSVP is that we got to know if they had any allergies for the dinner, room preference, etc. As we had made those things they had to fill out on the RSVP page. 16. A lot of people thanked us. As some People got busy and had forgotten -- those ones booked ASAP. The others ones still waited lol. Like my dad. He's been in since April but waited until July 17 to book My fiancé followed up more with his than I did mine, at some point you have to let it go lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. First time for both of us. I do have kids but he does not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Great question. I'd think your maiden name but what do I know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. 6 years. He's older. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Perfect Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quite similar stories here Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I just asked this not knowing what an 'unplugged wedding' is. while the more I think about it, I agree about people so focused on pictures and not the wedding, I also don't mind them getting their own pics. My huge thing is I want to be the FIRST to post pics on social media sites. Considering having the MC announce this but have saw others on here post it in their pre travel letters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I have no worries about people posting whatever they want except my wedding pictures lol Even still it will be hard to control and maybe not even worth the hassle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think I saw a post about 'unplugged weddings' but had no idea what that meant. Shall search for it. That's a good idea about people not being able to tag you but doesn't 100% solve the issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Our connectors for our guests are shockingly cheaper!!! $250-400 cheaper. Maybe It's their incentive to book with them and they should!! Sucks about that flight. DR is on my list for the next tropical trip I take. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I've been putting some thought into this and I feel we'd like to be the first people to post a picture of our wedding on social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). I have saw some brides on here send this out in their pre travel letter but I was considering having the MC announce it at the wedding. Is this fair to ask of people? Or are we being silly for even thinking it? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
