  1. We did maracas from Amol's (check out their website). We did the medium size and it was 2 for $1.65. Each guest got one. I used a marker to write our wedding name on the back and attached a cute card that read 'instead of tapping on your glass here is a system with Mexican class. Stand and shake with all your might to see the groom kiss his bride tonight' Huge hit and very cost effective. 50 maracas easily fit in a 21inch carry on sized suitcase Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Welcome and congrats. Not many Puerto Plata brides here so that's awesome you are one!!! Lots of Canadians though good luck with your wedding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. oh yay your time has come!! Good luck and please come back with your review and lots of pics!!! Congrats Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. The internet would be my only thought. Not sure a commissionaire in Canada would as they do legal marriages. My guess is the internet would be the best bet. Ours was very basic. I could take a pic of it for you. So weird they wouldn't have anything. Congrats that your time as come. I hope it's all you've dreamed of and more. Please come back with an update and pics. 5. Welcome! Large Ontario group here who even have get togethers. I'm in AB congrats! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. You are under a lot of stress with your family so go easy on yourself. I think your list is manageable and will help pass time as you get into your final count down. I was the same. I had many a tears the closer I got and I was putting everything together. If you need to renew your passports I would probably do that ASAP incase there is a hold up. I know it usually doesn't happen but it does. Ummmm probably out of line but Sean looks like that Australian actor in those pics. Hehehe. Hugs Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Gorgeous. You look beautiful!!!!! Stunning backdrop. Congrats! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Hugs!!! I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I can only imagine her emotions and yours. I hope it all works out so she can attend in Mexico. Please keep us posted [emoji173]️ I wish her the best with the specialist and treatment. Hoping for positive outcomes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Welcome and congrats! Is your budget of $7k for wedding alone or for your trip as well? For wedding alone that's very doable if your guest list isn't extensive. Ie 100 people. Finding the resort is the hardest part and a travel agent will be your best friend. They will help narrow down location and resort based on pricing, your wants list, and wedding packages. Also can get you a group rate and sometimes hotel perks! Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Yay!! That's awesome. Just seems like yesterday. Please check in after as we'd love to hear all about it. Congrats!! Hope it's all you've dreamed of and more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. @@deecol Hugs to you hun, I hope you are coping ok with your loss... I like @@deecol had a hard week as well. My uncle passed away on Monday. Aside from all the emotion that comes with that, it has caused a lot of drama. Needless to say I will be the only immediate family member at his service next Friday.... my dad isn't coming until the burial at a later date. I am just overly shocked and disappointed. And angry at his words to me, but that is not for today. I also started my new job (insert fear of asking for a day off already lol).... So between 2 jobs, my uncle passing away, and full time school work I am pretty much shot. (oh and being a parent and a wife) Hate my life right now HAHAH!!! I was able to keep my eating in check, yay! But I did not work out twice like I had wanted, only once. I had a great loss of 1.6, for a total of 9 lbs but I know that is muscle mass loss in there.... whenever I stop weights for a week I see a bigger loss. I HAVE to get to the gym atleast once this weekend and once during the week. Please wish me luck. I feel pretty hopeless right now with what's on my plate, then the emotion of my uncle.... have a great halloween.
  12. Kids under 12 get a more kid appropriate meal. We didn't get a kids menu either but I believe my kids had cheeseburgers and fries and the other had chicken fingers and fries. There may be a spaghetti like dish too. Trying to remember if I gave her the selections at our onsite meeting. None the less it's a small menu - maybe just fire off a quick email to see what the options are now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Mexico does have a limit. They have a webpage. I brought my receipts, hotel confirmation and guest list just in case but didn't have any issues. The more recent brides on here who have been searched have stated it's for a wedding and have been ok too!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Congrats on your legal ceremony. I'm glad you were able to make it everything you had hoped for. I understand the wedding blues. I think that's probably why I still frequent here. I don't know. All I can tell you is that it will pass. You will fall back into your normal life. Maybe you will have to find something to fill the time (if you haven't already) that once was wedding planning. Hugs and good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks! I was looking into Cayo Santa Maria but I think we may stick to Varadero as we like you can walk and explore on foot. Husband doesn't like being secluded from the towns and locals. Will be gorgeous though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Ohhhh what's the name? We were in Cuba in 2014 but may go back for our anniversary! Would try a different place though. Love Cuba Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Love me some cupcakes. Dare I ask where this one is, as a fellow calgarian? I've not found a place yet that beats Crave but always open to try @@yycbride2016 Ohh and love coconut cupcakes Good job! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I'm down another .4 which is great since I went hog wild last Saturday lol (birthday party with cake, movies with popcorn - you get the idea). I am at 7.4 total I believe.... This is the week I start training for my other job... so my morning gym routine is going bye bye!!!! Going to take a lot to get me to the gym in the evening, especially with my school work but I plan to commit to twice a week... Diet will be spot on. Have a great week ladies.
  19. Hello, I searched Cuba customs and most pages I found re-iterated what is on this webpage. http://gocuba.ca/client/tips/show.php?tip_id=7 We have one recent Cuba bride @@diadiamond and maybe @@csho can jump in too but she hasn't been around in awhile. I will find the other Varadero bride I can think of and edit my post with her username once I find it All three of these ladies have planning threads if you did a quick look thru that thread. Good luck! EDIT - couldn't find the other one!!! Even try doing a search for Cuba customs or Cuba planning up top and you will get tonnes of links to threads on this message board.
  20. My friend posted this, this AM.... Retweeted Kiaira ♡ (@BlvckConscious): ‪#‎HurricanePatricia‬ downgraded to a tropical storm overnight with no major property damage and zero casualties. That's the power of prayer.
  21. Welcome and congrats! I feel your pain on the struggle to find a resort that not only works for your vacation but also your wedding. A travel agent will be invaluable here to help you narrow down your list based on your wants/needs, as well as your price point! They can also help you get initial wedding info for the resort. My travel agent help steer us towards resorts that were coming back in our price point, as well as she priced out ones I had researched myself. We ended up picking one she had recommended. That said, we got lucky that our resort did not have any hidden fees. Their wedding package brochures were very thorough and they did not price gauge I didn't feel. There was no set up fees, or electricity fees, or what have you that you will read about. They also provided all services on site that were fantastic. There really wasn't a large need to go off the resort. I know some do for photography and their external vendor fees weren't absurd. When I got married the the photography vendor fee was only $300. Compared to $1000 at some resorts. I had 45 people at our wedding. We upgraded to a private palapa location. Our wedding packages were pretty inclusive as they included the music for ceremony, the cake, flowers for bride/groom, reception (type depends on package). I upgraded a lot - private location, extra 3 hours for reception (6 total), 1 hour cocktail party, Mariachi band, extra decor (Chinese lanterns, flower petals, chair sashes), 4 extra bouquets, 4 bouts for men, a larger bouquet for me, hair trial, wedding hair/makeup, DJ for 6 hours, private golf cart all day..... list goes on... and we paid about $5500-$6000 Canadian.. It's been 9 months already! We got married at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. I would say it was a solid 4.5*, sitting behind the fancy resorts of the Karisma and Palace brands.
  22. Prayers for everyone involved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Didn't need to worry about going crazy! I thought it was a sit down dinner and it was not! I probably still went over because they cook yummy things with so much butter and oil, etc. but all I had was... - one little ball of sorts (not sure what it was) - one little bread with pesto/bruschetta like topping on it - one little cake dessert - small glass of champagne
