Destination Wedding Checklist
calgarybride2015 replied to 2015Bride's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I don't have one, but often thought it would be nice! This board reminded me of a lot of things - albeit not necessarily MUST haves - like cake toppers, etc. Also what I did was go thru the thread for my resort to get ideas, things I missed, etc. And I went thru my price list/resort info from WC numerous times as well. good luck -
Wedding Dress Prices?
calgarybride2015 replied to gkashmira's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
hehe, I actually just posted this on our other convo - but at 'Sew Nice' in SW Calgary. -
I got mine at David's Bridal too. They quoted $137 for the hem, and then $57 at minimum for the bustle. My coworker went to 'Sew Nice' in SW Calgary and got a bustle, hem, repair, and sash changed out for $120, so I plan to start there. It's quite far from my house as I live near the Airport, but for that savings why not!! I am just scared to go somewhere that noone I know has went, just in case, you know?? Although I have no back up that David's Bridal will do a great job either ha!

Bm Drama - Sister Issues.... What To Do?
calgarybride2015 replied to KAT2015's topic in Just venting or funnies
Don't count her out over a new baby! There will be lots of people there who would be more than happy to hold him during the busy parts!! If you really wanted to, ask her, and see what she says. You may be surprised! -
The night before.....???
calgarybride2015 replied to selassie11's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I know right!!! I can't sleep before a trip, I am sure as heck not going to sleep before my wedding. May plan some girls fun, but nothing crazy as I don't want a hangover ha! -

Hesitant To Do A Registry
calgarybride2015 replied to Kerrierf's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I wasn't sure on the shower either. When people not invited started asking about it (coworkers, distant friends, etc.) and I mentioned I wasn't having one they were shocked. They said they all still want to be involved and want me to have one! They aren't offended at all they aren't invited as they realize DW are smaller and intimate. That said, I still don't want something called a 'shower'. I think maybe a bon voyage party during the day and a stagette by night! I have soooo many ladies wanting to get out and party lol! We shall see, I have a few friends not attending who really want to organize it, so curious to see what it turns out to be. We have also considered doing one together, boys and girls. Who knows!!! Should start considering it though as we want to do it in November before Christmas! -
I have seen posts on here (OOT threads) where people have done stadium cups. This was a hard one for me. We REALLY wanted to do bubba's because who doesn't have one to travel! lol! They are the greatest idea ever. That said, it just wasn't in our budget as we have 45 ish people coming at $6 a pop, then shipping, customs, etc. EEK! I wasn't going to do anything, but then decided to do the tumblers. We are filling them up with some goodies. What I am doing for travelling is actually stacking them inside eachother to save on space. Then will assemble them when we arrive (I may play around and if it takes same the space to travel with them assembled (less the straw) then I may go this route). I think the stadium cups, if they are bigger than the resort cups, is still a good idea! Personally I feel all cups will be used when they are back at home - especially from the girls haha! I made sure not to personalize them with our names or wedding date to ensure people would use them again. Personally, I wouldn't waste money on a kozie, but that is my opinion -- if you want them used at the resort. A kozie would be great for a gift back home, but most resorts don't use cans/bottles unless you meant for your stadium cups?

What Flavor Is Your Cake?
calgarybride2015 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
YAY!! Is this first pick up or alterations pick up? Gives you something to occupy your time now! I love being under the gun, so while I feel a little ahead of the game most days, I am sure most won't be completed until the bitter end! -

Bm Drama - Sister Issues.... What To Do?
calgarybride2015 replied to KAT2015's topic in Just venting or funnies
Hugs! I think you need to do what makes you happy, not your sister! I wouldn't want to look back and have regrets. This is your day and you have already given her duties that are super important. Follow your heart on this one. I had myself in a similar situation (don't we all, it seems!) I had picked my bridal party of 3 (by default because fiance got all excited and asked 3 men!) Well after all my best friend drama went down I had 1 spot, but 2 sisters - I initially hadn't planned to ask them. One had confirmed to come to the wedding, one was very unsure. I also was a bit nervous to have this second sister in my bridal party for numerous reasons (too much to type!) Basically what I did was confront her and be very honest (even though I felt like a piece of crap!!) I told her that I had 3 friends, 1 isn't coming and wasn't sure if I should ask one sister or none or to make my bridal party bigger - I decided to extend the offer out to increase my bridal party size to 4, but I needed her to think about it because I needed to know 100% she was in fact coming, could afford the dress, etc. because I would feel horrible for fiance to ask a 4th man and then realize we shouldn't have as our numbers would be off and didn't want to 'take it back' so to speak. I know it's harsh but if you know my sister and the drama that surrounds her life it was a MUST to have this conversation. She got back to me and said she would prefer to be involved but not in the bridal party. I am not surprised as she is shy, but I felt horrible for days. I asked her again to reconsider, blah blah and in the end she isn't a BM but she is coming as my aunt was able to jump in and help her afford to come! We probably both shed a tear, but we moved on from it. I think you should follow your heart and do what you want and move forward. Good luck -
No Wedding Gifts...
calgarybride2015 replied to MrsCtoB's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I would assume if people do bring anything it will be a card... or a card with a gift card/money inside. We certainly hope people don't, but my fiance said his family will 100%. I know my immediate family will, but I hope my friends don't! Ack! -
I may have changed my mind on their shirts! much to fiance's dismay, but he is open to my new idea. Posted this in another thread, but saw pictures last night of the whole bridal party (men) in nice golf shirts in the wedding color. I thought it looked super sharp! I may see if I can find some nice orange ones to tie in that side of the color scheme. If not, what we have is more than fine, just loved what I saw. I told fiance I would return all the men's shirts for them if I change my mind lol

Family Landing The Guilt Trip For Doing A Dw!
calgarybride2015 replied to Lia33's topic in Forum News & Updates
A wedding by committee hehe! My fiance's dad wanted us to marry in Ontario so 'I can visit our family' ummm no! His family is out east, mine is out west, and everyone would have had travel/hotel costs so it's not that far fetched to go to Mexico. My first choice was Vegas but we knew at the end of the day that price would be just as high as it's not all inclusive. -
Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?
calgarybride2015 replied to kcole123's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
It's such a double edged sword isn't it? I am so happy so many people are coming but I also went 'ouch' when I realized just how many had RSVP'd. -
Welcome Party/cocktails?
calgarybride2015 replied to danielleandryan2015's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I asked about a welcome dinner but was told I would have to book an a la carte (ya right finding space for 45 people!), but I may ask again when I get my actual wedding coordinator in October. My back up was just to have everyone meet in the lobby bar at 7:30pm the day we arrive to say thank you, do introductions and give out our OOT cups/gifts. I think this will work fine! We have some group excursions in the works for our bachelor/bachelorette parties but nothing firm! -
Family Landing The Guilt Trip For Doing A Dw!
calgarybride2015 replied to Lia33's topic in Forum News & Updates
My fiance's dad wasn't very supportive and was actually pretty rude about it. My fiance didn't talk to him for months, because each time he did it was some dig about it 'what if I don't want to go to Mexico?' 'what if I don't want to take a week off?' 'what if I can't afford it?' Finally in the end they RSVP'd and paid their deposit. Not sure if all his other family that are going gave him a smack. Do what's best for you. Your grandparents will understand!!! -
Any Other Calgary 2014 Brides?
calgarybride2015 replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
Ya I am pretty sure if they are over 18 years old it can be anyone you want! -
I would hope, at the very least, she has the respect to say so though! So you can replace her on Friday and also again for your wedding if you do so wish!
