  1. haha 'kim kim' I do love how you spelled my name right though! That never happens. Those are very cute! but wow on the price! Did you see the one from Cuba bride, she just posted hers a few days back and it looks just like them!
  2. I wouldn't even have a guess because they aren't included in our price list, I assume because they are included. what else I like about it, is that they move them over to the reception site to use them there for the head table and cake and/or guestbook table.
  3. Kim is a great name I am sure the frugality will win over the $800 shoes too! I bet they are beautiful. If I was to marry at home I knew which shoes I was getting (heels) but thankfully I don't have to worry about the $200 price tag on those. I bought a 'B" cake topper but honestly? I may not use it. I love the look of the cakes with just flowers on top and my cake topper may get in the way! I may return it, haven't decided yet.
  4. Congrats That's an awesome story and it gave me goosebumps! My fiance was creative in where he put the ring, but not with the words he chose. I think I heard 'you didn't say yes' and I said 'you didn't ask' LMAO! he was too busy crying, although he swears it was sand in his eyes! ha! If Las Caletas is what I think it is, my friend (gym instructor) married there last year and it looked super beautiful. She stayed at a resort in Neovo though (not sure if its Puerto or Playa in front of it lol). at the Occidental Grand Xcaret. If you want I can see if she would mind if I shared her pictures with you. Good luck! I am marrying in January 2015 and I feel like it can't come quick enough.
  5. It's funny because I am very much like you. I am always finding things to sell on Kijiji and when I started on this wedding journey I was the very frugal, can't splurge on anything, bride. But a few things I really love the idea of and go for it. My mindset is changing A LOT and it may hurt the pocketbook here soon ha! You are legally getting married though right? If you don't want too and fiance doesn't push it, then hey - it's your choice to make! I don't like my last name whatsoever (sorry dad!) and I don't have my kids last name so I have no reason to keep it, per say.
  6. hah! no I still have to worry about him. We both are wild child's, I think this is one reason we get along so well The other day his sister in law (who isn't a big drinker/partier) said to fiance that she doesn't think that many people will be drinking in Mexico. He almost fainted, and me too when he told me this. UMMM not only is THEIR family drinkers, so are mine. She must have hit her head hehe. The men had been joking about puke buckets at the ceremony (total joke) and this is when she brought it up! Don't get me wrong, we aren't insane drunken alcoholics, but we love to have fun when the time is right!
  7. Very nice! I didn't say it in the first post, but I was considering the 'bride' one to resell it, but I don't plan to sell my dress (well not considering it at this point) so figured my dress would need the hanger forever! I can't wait to take his last name, we were being silly the other night and were trying out my new signature!
  8. I am into some DIY, but not this one!! I just cringed thinking of doing it. I have saw some other brides just hand write the names on them too, which looks great - but I prefer the wire! Can't wait to see how yours turn out. The frugal side of me says '$35 for a hanger!!' but it's a beautiful keepsake just for me.
  9. I hadn't really put any thought into this whatsoever until last night when I read a fabulous blog by Misti (Bohemia Photography) and it really made sense! Such a beautiful dress to be on such an ugly plastic hanger! So I got on to Etsy to scope some out. They have an array of prices and choices - your name, 'bride', with or without your wedding date. I found this vendor who's shipping is decent and her reviews are GREAT!! I like the idea of using 'Mrs Bourque' and getting a hot pink bow to mach my wedding colors. https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/119862465/wedding-dress-hanger-personalized-bridal?ref=favs_view_1 Also liked this lady's work - https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/185255240/bride-hanger-wedding-dress-hanger-bridal?ref=favs_view_2 - and maybe too the fact the dress in her pictures is MY wedding dress What are you all doing?
  10. Who wouldn't want to got to Vegas!! I wish, but there is no way i can expect people to come to Mexico and Vegas. We will definitely be doing something at home because a lot of our friends can't come, so this is a time to party/celebrate with them. My friend not attending asked to be a huge part of this, so she will plan with my BM. My MOH and other BM don't live here, the same for most of our family, so that is why we are also planning something in Mexico. At the moment we are talking about doing excursions, but I am ok with a night at the Disco too. We are just deciding to do them separate at home or together. Also when! My fiances brother and family are moving to Mexico at the end of October so we may do them before then. Also we are so close to Christmas so if not October (before they move) it will happen in November, so not to throw too much stuff on people's plates around Christmas. EDIT: And I will be honest, I am the wild child. This will be an experience and I will be annihilated. haha
  11. My neighbor swears by it. It's pricey from what I saw when I was at Walmart.
  12. I've really stressed myself out lately with respect to photographers! I like Adventure Photos links they send me of their work, but I realize that is a lot of photographers work! I don't know which one actually took those pictures and who I will get. I have recently emailed them to see if I can request a specific person. So then I started looking outside to other vendors (and sucking up the fees for this).... I have a hard time with photography because I look at a lot of the big names and while they are fabulous they are NOT my style. I am a basic person by nature, not flashy, don't like attention and some are just too much for me. I have found a few photogs in Mexico who fit my bill, but some are just a bit more than I can afford. I know photography is an investment but I am also trying to be realistic. I have inquired into Playa Weddings and Bohemia Photography. Bohemia Photography is new to this BDW site and I LOVE her work. Her prices are so reasonable and I can make the jump and extend my budget/go in the hole a smidge. I want to make sure I am doing the right thing, so I will await Adventure's answer and also into from Playa, but the more I think about Bohemia the less stress I feel. I have already booked Adventure but since there is no deposit necessary, I am sure I can cancel. Yes I will feel bad and like an arse, but I want to make sure I made the right choice.I hope this is ok! I am sure it's not the first time. Who is everyone else using? EDIT: Adventure Photos just got back to me, and the photog who has done all the work I love from the pictures is Perla. She didn't do my friends, but I like her work more. Apparently we can request one. Anyone have experience with this and it coming to fruition?
  13. I love the flats that are coming out with the elastic around the entire shoe so no 'cut ins'.... but I have heard great things about that band aid solid roll on you just rub on your ankles and such (like deodorant) so you don't get blisters.
  14. Octavio has great pricing too - just checked them out. On his page he makes reference to this site if you want even cheaper packages.. http://www.arteeilusion.com/packages.html maybe check them out too!
  15. Sorry it came to this but I am glad you are being positive and moving forward. It takes a lot but we get to a point in our lives where we see this as the easier route! good for you! I hope you were able to find someone for that ticket - they weren't cheap nor easy to get!!! I would have offered but Firework ruined it for me. I do love her older stuff like 'waking up in Vegas' Hope the rest of you had an awesome night.
  16. Does your resort have a kids club? If yes, see what their hours are. I would assume the 10 year old could be there until 10pm at night but not sure about the 3 year old. Worth a check. I haven't thought about a sitter. Other thoughts - are there older teenagers you could employ? your resort may offer after hours sitting (I know ours does), maybe look into that? I am sure everyone at your wedding, especially your parents and siblings understand it's YOUR day and will help ANY way they can. I believe this with 100% certainty! Just talk to them if you are worried. My kids will be 9 at the time and I just plan for them to be with us all evening until fiance's mom goes to bed/takes them with her. We will all be drinking and having fun, but we socialize a lot at home so this isn't new for them. Maybe make sure your 3 year old has toys, coloring stuff, things to keep her occupied. I am sure your 10 year old will be just fine.
  17. I might look into those tanning wipes! I have about 400 minutes at my gym for tanning, so I think in October I will start to pre-tan! I am not too overly worried about tan lines, but I don't want to be pasty white or a burnt lobster (like my last time to Mexico), so I think this is a safe bet. Here is my first tropical destination 2nd day result (SPF 60 once and then SPF 15 does NOT cut it. I learned my lesson and in Cuba I didn't burn at all. I used SPF 60 every 1-2 hours there)
  18. Since I am also a Calgary bride I am curious who you chose! I looked into this today, more for curiosity, and most wanted $4000 AND their trip paid for!
  19. ours comes decorated with white linen and 2 hanging flower arrangements. You can pay for colored linen, but I instead chose to spend the $$ on colored chair sashes. [/url]
  20. I considered buying fake over real, but it was only like a $5 difference in cost -- so I chose one less thing to pack!
  21. I have stayed at both. We felt the adults only resort was a geriatric ward, but I think it's a hit and miss -- could have just been the week, you know? We said we would probably never stay at another one! They also tend to be more expensive as you are paying for no children to be around. I am in my mid 30's and my fiance is 40 and sometimes we wished to have some amusement from the drunk 20 year olds! Also, we found the music wasn't as loud, it didn't play all day, and the entertainment lacked. This was in Cuba and I haven't stayed at an adults only elsewhere so maybe it was only this resort? For your wedding, just decide if you want kids or not. If you want NO kids 100% an adult only resort is a safe bet!
  22. Another thought/question for you. Other brides at other resorts mention paying a fee for them to set up your centerpieces and guest book etc. Does GS? And how much if yes? Thanks!! You've been an awesome Help. Ohhh and do you remember your photogs name? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I'm just wearing a fancy pair of sandals from Spring. Sorry no help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
