  1. Thanks for mentioning the blotting paper. I had heard there was something along the lines of this, but hadn't thought of where to find it. Was going to look at Shopper's Drug Mart! That will be VERY useful.
  2. I agree!! I should say friends and family - it's probably more friends but have a few drinkers in the family (my sister!! it somewhat worries me, but nothing I can do)... Noone is rowdy though, just loud. Should be wild and make for some awesome memories. I agree, the resort is losing money this week!
  3. Very true! I don't think I have anything to worry about here. The chances of someone bringing a drink with them is slim. But like you said, after the ceremony it will be mayhem! This I don't doubt. Sometimes we joke and hope the resort realizes just how much booze my family can consume.
  4. Fiance and I are in a little tiff right now. I feel I am carrying the weight of the wedding, of the budget, of our fiances, of my car getting fixed (someone hit me last month and wants to try going privately). He says he is going to do stuff and isn't, then gets upset when I get upset UGH!! So he asked what he can do - I said when I ask for your opinion, give me a straight answer, not some stupid joke about you wearing a banana hammock! I understand the humor, but I am so stressed out I don't find it funny anymore. Generally I love the control, I love the little projects, and such... but it's getting a bit much! ha! sorry my vent for the day!
  5. Maybe I give too much credit and I will be eating my words!!! I love to dress up too, but if I was to attend a DW I would wear dress shorts and a dress top with fancy sandals. I think I will list no swim/lounge wear just to be safe. hahah! We have a bunch of drinkers, so the beer in their hand I won't put past them. Thankfully, we are about a 15 min walk to the main resort so if they only bring one they will have it done before I show up!
  6. I agree, I think of our friends and family and think we will be fine. But then again I have seen these pictures you refer too! I will make sure in my pre-travel brochure that I am clear that no 'swim/lounge' attire is appropriate. Most people are telling me about the pretty dresses they are buying, so fingers crossed!
  7. We listed a dress code, but I think it consisted of 'a nice shirt and shorts or a summer dress is more than perfect' haha!! I asked for what you don't want, eek! Are you really against people wearing sandals? You can get some nice ones. I can't really say 'no sandals' when the entire wedding party will be in them! I told fiance I would be pissed if someone showed up in swim shorts, but he thinks we are fairly safe.
  8. It's your wedding! but it's a tough question. We are 100% on the beach. I personally would feel bad asking people to wear a suit, even fiance, but that is for our wedding and everyone has different opinions. Since you aren't on the beach and possibly are sheltered from the sun more I don't think it's unreasonable. I couldn't imagine fiance wearing long sleeves, and if he was just to roll them up then he may as well be in a short sleeve. We are going more for casual over formal anyways! But lots of tough decisions to make.
  9. HAHA!!! It was my fiance that told me that to be honest, but it is so true! Exactly -- I swear this is all a big MIND GAME! Tricky question. You could to get some ideas, but if you lose a lot of weight you may find that your style changes, or that you may look better in a style that you would never have considered due to current weight. So many ways to look at it. End of the day, it causes no harm, so why not? I'm not sure I would buy it yet, because sometimes alterations can be a lot more than just waiting to get the right size or close enough to the right size. Up to you though.
  10. Quineanera? that's a new word for me! It's beautiful. I am really happy with that hair piece and I think it will tie it all together for me. I tried the birdcage veil but felt it may be a bit more vintage than I was going for. Thankfully we all get lots of options
  11. I have sandals for the wedding but I hate to admit this -- if I bought a small wedge I wouldn't need my dress hemmed! ha! I will check out the link above. Wedges are cheaper then alterations!
  12. I also love this idea. If I hadn't have already bought postcards I would have considered it
  13. Was in Deerfoot Mall this weekend so popped in to look at luggage - nice bags! I would totally use those!
  14. You can start planning whenever you want. What's great about planning early is you have plenty of time to change your mind This is what I have enjoyed - I booked about 9 months out! just over 4 months to go. If you haven't already booked your wedding at Dreams, I would do that ASAP as dates go quick and you want your first pick! Then you should get all the stuff from the resort to make all your choices, upgrades, etc. Our resort did this anyways! Gave me tonnes of time to read thru, look at all my options, and ask +++ questions. Good luck!
  15. Great idea Kim! My friend married there last year and her pictures are fabulous! She also had the sky lantern things (I think - she set something off in the air) and I know a lot of you ladies were looking to have those and couldn't!! PS - read your other post. So let me get this right - they are legally unable to set up your centerpieces so your friends have too, but they are charging $250 US for doing nothing? what? I don't fully understand that. Sounds like a cash grab.
  16. I found plastic frames at michaels for table numbers. I'm also using small white pails (favor pails) as votive holders. I added some bling. Sprinkling shells on the table and using my BM bouquets as the flowers. Hoping they will supply the vases as they are purchased flowers. If not, oh well. I'm not packing anymore!!! I will find a cup ha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I totally understand. We have closed the door as well. Except for 1 couple as we know they aren't in a great financial spot right now but otherwise, nope! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. That would have been!! I knew I should have done our pictures yesterday. Thankfully as of today Sept 21 isn't calling for snow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Packing that thing would be insane. Bet you could get one on the resort! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I was hoping December so my wedding was coming quick! But nope Sept. Wth!!! Can't recall the last time it snowed in September. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Just wanted to wish my Calgary friends a Merry Christmas hehehe! barf!
  22. I totally can relate where you are all coming from. When I went to the bridal store on Saturday for hair pieces I saw a gorgeous dress!! I was like 'ahhhh I love that', but you know what? You will always find something else you love - always. Whether it be a dress, or shoes, or a car or whatever! You won't just love ONE thing only. So I think it's normal. Just remind yourself you already bought one and why you loved it in the first place!
  23. Cute! The kids will still be at various tables as there aren't enough to fill a table, but I can think of something special for them on the table to occupy them -- and love the lego idea.
  24. Our David's Bridal has some stuff in stock, but more tiaras and such, nothing that remotely pleases my eye! I had thought of one rhinestone flower and they didn't have it in stock so she told me to order it myself online! Not for that huge shipping fee to Canada, thanks! I agree, it's nice to have it on and tinker around with it and such! Like everything, it's a gamble when you buy online and can't return it.
  25. Also very cute!!! You seem to have short hair, so I'd love to know how you wore it up!! I was looking for cheaper alternatives, but what if I order one and hate it? Atleast this way I have seen this one in person and had it in my hair. I have decided to go this week and order it
