Bach Parties At Resort?
calgarybride2015 replied to MorganRene's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are doing both. We are doing something at home for my friends here and people who can't come to the wedding/I just couldn't invite. Yes it seems wrong, but I have had SO many people (like coworkers) ask me when it is because they can't wait to celebrate with us. So that will probably be mid November. I will invite my family/friends from back home as a courtesy but they are in no way obligated to come! (I know 2-3 who will, but can't invite some and not others so I will make sure they realize they aren't needed to come!) In Mexico I was more than happy to just do a night on the resort with the disco, etc. But the boys have started planning a fishing trip, so some of my friends thought we should go off site too - a catamaran booze cruise and coco bongo's has come up. Honestly I feel so bad asking anyone to spend anymore money than needed in Mexico, so I am probably just going to shush about it and do it at the disco! -
Fiance and I planned to say thank you to everyone at our welcome drinks gathering. I guess we should again at the reception? We planned for our MC (who is also hilarious) give the toast at the end of the ceremony. Then at the reception - my sister (MOH), fiance's brother (best man), then my dad, and his mom. I was considering asking my sister as well, but she said she is too shy and would need a lot to drink (scary! eek! trying to avoid that). Possibly fiance's dad and/or uncle. Also want to keep it light. If people want to stand up and toast us during the night they are welcome. But I plan to let them know short and sweet - as I think most people prefer that anyways. I should actually get on this - they only have 4 months to prepare LOL!

Me too! It was fiance's pick. If he hadn't picked it for our dance I would have used it somewhere in the ceremony. OHH LOVE Danza Kuduro. They played it a lot when I was in Mexico last year and had to come home and figure out who sang it. I also really love Enrique's new Bailando. Some type of feel IMO! Love you are using it.

Honestly a plastic (acrylic?) tumbler is a plastic tumbler. Sure you can get ones with prints on them that look nicer, but the quality is probably the same. I got mine from Dollarama as I wanted clear ones. I just made sure to purchase none with cracks and I will pack them the best I can. Anything can damage in transit, but trying not to stress out about it.

Tumblers Vs. Mugs
calgarybride2015 replied to MorganRene's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Honestly.. if you have the funds go for the Bubba mugs. I know it will take a large chunk of your budget, but maybe scale back on what you do otherwise (ie don't do OOT bags, just a few items and stuff them in the cups). We really wanted bubba's but I just couldn't accept the cost as I have 45 guests. I did the tumblers with straws from the dollar store. I bought hangover items and put them inside the cup and that is what we are giving out. LOL! I have a bubba with a straw and have no problems drinking beer threw it, so you will see me with my tumbler full of beer. I already told myself I was not bringing my bubba because I want to promote people using our tumblers by ME using the tumbler too! It was a compromise for us, but I am really excited about them. A bubba will keep your drink cold for literally hours. It's unreal, but so will any insulated cup - so many check out discountmugs.com if you want a cheaper option. -

That's a great idea! The large rafia fans or the ones that fold up small? Honestly, given the price of Oriental Trading's product, your resorts are probably the same if not better quality! I would use theirs, they are included! -
Wrist Or Pinned Corsage For Moms?

We decided not to get anyone one, ha! that made that decision easy I think both are perfectly fine, but maybe just ask their opinion! -

Trust me! I understand. I changed my mind a lot on some things (started cheap and now spending wildly) so costing me more! Favors were always a Forsure once I bought them. Keep changing my mind on hair pieces, grooms outfits, bridal party gifts (big stress). So I have bought some stuff I may not use and/or have returned stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Don't quote me but I think I've seen the handles at dollarama but I could be wrong. Would be easier to personalize forsure. If we do fans they will be the paper ones but after I just blew my budget hardcore on bridal party gifts I'm sure fans are out lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Wow I've sure changed a lot since that original post!! Gifts are different. Am doing OOT cups with hangover kit in it. Maracas are from Amols! Cheap! Shipping to Canada is reasonable. I don't recommend the yellow ones as they need more paint but still nice. Letter! Weekly activities, wedding time line, important things to remember/pack, info about Mexico (transfers time shares etc) extra costa at resort (wifi etc) ummmmm drawing a blank. I made a list! Lots of the same stuff from our wedding website. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If we do fans (topic hasn't come up lately) everyone would get one! But ya I doubt any man would keep it but if they are hot enough they may use it haha! Good point. Popsicle stick would be more work but DIY! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Sent, hopefully it is what you needed. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks! and happy planning ps - what is your wedding date? -
I think we are pretty close to having it 100% set in stone Bridal Party - Marry Me by Train Bride - 1000 years in instrumental by the Piano Guys Signing - (not 100%) 2 is better than 1 by (crap drawing a blank but a duo with Taylor Swift)... was also considering Everything by Michael Buble Exit - On Top Of the World by Imagine Dragons First Dance - All of Me by John Legend

Resorts Without Free Wi-Fi?

Thanks for the suggestion. When do you think I should ask? When I have my physical wedding coordinator, or just when I get there? Right now I have a lady answering emails lol -

I do Helen, I am marrying there in January 2015. I would need your email to send you them! There is a thread down in the Mexico forums solely for the Grand Sirenis, I highly recommend it. Was a life saver for me. -
Any Other Calgary 2014 Brides?
calgarybride2015 replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
Glad things are feeling chill right now! Maybe it's because all the hard stuff is settled and it's time to tie up loose ends? I find I am finally at the point of being done shopping, making all the final decisions, etc. and I am starting to second guess myself on stuff! Cheap Kim made early decisions, and now not so cheap Kim has come out! haha! Glad you have those breathers, that's a great idea and one I am sure I can figure out. I think we both need it. Good luck!! -
Any Other Calgary 2014 Brides?
calgarybride2015 replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
Thanks ladies! This is our first real tiff since we started. I would stress out, but he's so laid back it helped. But now we are getting into the nitty gritty, the stress is just a bit too much to bare so days, and we have 4 months left! We did talk some today - calmly - and he asked for a 'to do list'. It's tough to take time apart when we live together, I was almost thinking time together with NO WEDDING talk was what we needed. Like not just a dinner out, but an activity or a weekend somewhere, etc. Not that we can afford that, ha! Thanks again... I know we all have our moments, and everyone here understands. -
Ideas For Oot Bags Please!
calgarybride2015 replied to Bride2b15's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
There are tonnes of threads on OOT bags, even ones were people post what was used/what wasn't! You will find a tonne of info there. I am not doing bags. I am just doing cups and filling them with some items.. - Tumbler cup with waterproof label on front - tums - Emergen C - Advil (travel size - 10 count) - pepto bismal - bandaids - mentos - nail file - wedpics card & thank you card Considered chapstick but can't find a good deal on it. kids will get treats in theirs and possibly playing cards when I find a smaller version!
