You'd have to ask your friend if she would swap her services for the free vacation. All photogs structure it different. I talked to one that wanted her and another paid for but she offered engagement, wedding, TTD and some other things. Then the guy who did our engagement photos wanted $200 per hour for 8 hours min and a $500 spending bonus but he'd pay his trip. They are all different. Definitely ask her we are just booking someone down there unless when I get my engagement pics back I am blown away hehe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What's Your Hidden Cost(S) So Far?
calgarybride2015 replied to linaco80's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I get it 100%. Now that I have most purchased and am 4 months out I keep looking to pass time lol It's killing me. I really want to do tanks for the wedding party -- but honestly it's probably ok if I only get one for myself but I feel bad lol. Otherwise no more!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
What's Your Hidden Cost(S) So Far?
calgarybride2015 replied to linaco80's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Check with your resort. A recent Canadian bride at my resort said they charged her on pesos so it was a direct conversion to Canadian. No silly USD conversion were we'd lose a tonne!!! I'm crossing my fingers it works the same for me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hehe my tastes are a problem too!!! Trying to compromise where I can Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I would go the mug or cup route. Discount Mugs has great prices and a lot of options, I just couldn't justify the shipping cost (over $100) to Canada. There is a lady on here that didn't have to pay the shipping, but not sure I would want to risk that. To save money you could do them non personalized and get waterproof stickers made. There is a great lady on Etsy and if you decided quick could get them back in time. I think mine took about 3 weeks. Or make some yourself? (really they don't even need to be personalized if you didn't want). I just got the tumblers from Dollarama for $2 a piece but really wanted the bubba mugs! Another Canadian bride said the $6 bubbas (from their website) turned out costing $11-13 each with all the taxes, duty, shipping, etc. My only concern with beach wraps is if they don't fit some of the ladies?? I would go more generic, but that is just me. Otherwise, awesome job! good luck!

My Wedding Dress Adventures
calgarybride2015 replied to malyna's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
They are all very unique! You look beautiful. If I had to choose I would pick picture number 6 but with the neckline of number 7 (sweat heart?) it suits you perfectly. Number 7 would be my second choice Don't be scared to Voice your opinion, you have to wear it. And sometimes voicing out loud what you want, how the dress does / doesn't fit what you envision, how you feel in it, etc. Helps you decide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Our TA allowed payments too! Fiance's mom and some other ate that up lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Right after you exchange rings I do believe. It's like a civil ceremony. Just not legal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

9.5 months total for us basically! It was really an exciting whirlwind. After we got back from Cuba (where he engaged) we went to Flight Centre and got some books on destination weddings. We really were considering that, Ontario, or Kelowna. It all happened really fast and we went, wow we just booked our wedding in Mexico! It's still a little surreal some days and brings me to tears!

I am now considering 'Truly Madly Deeply' by Savage Garden for signing.. It's my last song, there are so many good ones!

You will get there! Takes a long time for your brain to catch up!! Some days I wonder what people are thinking too, but you will get there. All numbers, big or small, add up to big numbers. That is why I took a lot of pictures during my journey and I kept one outfit from the beginning. When I have a downer day or forget what I have accomplished I put it on. You may not believe this, but I can fit in one pant leg of my old jeans! Even though some days I feel like the old Kim - which is completely impossible!

To save on the cost I didn't seek out someone advertising 'engagement photos' because they were soooo overpriced. I just looked for a photog who charged per hour who would let us do a mix of everything! We did us, the kids, and family photos. I spent $200 for 90 minutes and get them all edited on disc. Will let you know in a couple weeks if it was worth it!!! EDIT: and once you are at your goal weights it will be a nice reward for that too I love taking pics now.... it's a nice memory to look back over when I am having a bad day!

We had a quick turn around so we only did invites. We got engaged in April. We booked our resort early May and quickly sent out our invites because guests only had 90 days to secure their spot/price with the TA for our January wedding. We had a boarding pass invite with the basic info and included our wedding website which was very thorough. We also emailed people 2 and 1 week before the deadline to remind them. Now that, that deadline has passed my TA is on top of people to pay! Once final payment is done (October 17) I am sending out a pre travel letter with a lot of tips we had on our website but also wedding itinerary and also special events in Mexico, etc. I will include a luggage tag. To be honest I didn't know what a save the date was until I joined this site LOL but for us there was no time for both I think what you plan to do is great! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why Do Weddings Bring Up Family Drama?
calgarybride2015 replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Just venting or funnies
What you need to do, is what works best for you If you want to go in January - go in January! who cares if there is snow!! timing seems to work well for you, so stick to your guns. It's tough but what we are all learning on this board is that you need to do what works best for you! good luck! -
Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe Vs, Moon Palace Golf And Spa Resort
calgarybride2015 replied to AMD's topic in Newbies!!
I have no advice on one resort over another as I didn't price any of these resorts out. Although I totally understand where you are coming from with respect to helping your guests out price wise. Price point for our guests was HUGE in our decision and we would cross some resorts off the list SOLELY based on price. We didn't want to price people out of coming to our wedding. So I suggest you look at the overall cost for your guests. What was your initial price point you thought would be reasonable to ask them to pay? Does that extra $200 still fit well or does it really push the boundaries? (ie, our price point was $1500, but we ended up booking for $1565. Still well within a reasonable amount). If you think the added $200 still makes the package reasonable, then I say go for it. IF price point is that important to you -- if your guests price weighs on your mind, but isn't near the top of your list then I say just pick whatever one you and your fiance are in love with. I know at the end of the day it is your wedding, but I think guests appreciate you consider their costs as well. $200 isn't a terribly large number so you are probably safe either way. -
I'll tell myself half my guests will be drunk so it will be ok! ha!

Gifts For Parents
calgarybride2015 replied to MorganRene's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I personally think it would be a nice surprise. Since I don't think any parent expects a gift on your wedding day, I think it would be nice to surprise them!! They are a terrific idea and we decided last night we would do this for our parents. Will probably make them thru Costco! -
Ack! never thought about the last part!
