Thanks Thanks! Washed out is exactly why I was struggling with white. It was like every lady in pink, then from me on was white and it bugged me (yes everyone does it, but I couldn't get on board with it) My guys are informal so ties or handkerchiefs just wouldn't work for more color on the white. I think I will bring some blue ribbon for the bouquets. Also, will have the blue on the vases, and possibly for the ribbon on the cake (probably won't do it though lol). I will make sure all my maraca tags have a mix of fuchsia, orange, and turquoise. I made my frames already - they are fuchsia, and then the inners of the frames are in sparkly card stock. I used black for the numbers, but honestly I LOVE them, so I ain't changing them. I will make it work somehow!!! and ps - your colors are great

Thanks for your reply! I have considered bringing some ribbon to add to the bouquets (they come with white)... Their jewelry and accessories are already purchased and are all silver based, so can't go that route! I agree about the 1 color for chair sashes, so I think I will just throw in some turquoise here and there and be done with it. I was contemplating not using orange at all, but didn't want pink gerberas beside the fuchsia dresses, and you can't get blue flowers in the shade I would want! So will just stick with the 3 and have them here and there! Thanks for letting me think out loud!

So when I started this process I wanted fuchsia! Never dawned on me that people pick more than one color! (yes, naive wedding lady here!). So we started to throw in accents of orange (tangerine) as I love that look. As we have gone along I really didn't want any of the men (fiance and his guys) in white shirts. Well summer was ending and all we could find that he liked was turquoise. I now have a pallet of fuchsia, orange, and turquoise. Trying to figure out how to tie it all together. I assume if you just use touches of the colors all over, it's ok? Or does everyone have to wear a touch of every color? Ie my BM's dresses are fuchsia and their flowers are fuchsia/orange gerberas, is it ok they don't have the turquoise? I think my fiance will have a pink gerbera bout and the men will have the orange. I was going to have fuchsia chair sashes and fiance thought maybe alternate with blue. I am not sure I like the idea as I haven't seen many pictures of the alternating colors on the chairs. Fuchsia is still my original color too! So at reception I will do pink frames, orange blume boxes, with turquoise ribbon on them! I think if I pull in the blue in some areas it will be ok, agree? Driving me mental having to throw in the 3rd color but I think it will work. The colors match and they pop up in random places, so I think this will be ok. This is how fast my mind is working now that we are just over 3 months away!

I felt the same way. Our final payment is due in a few weeks which isn't far off Christmas and we travel mid January. But if they want to come they will find a way, trust me. If it's not Christmas it's something else. The excuses are endless. So go with what you want and just be confident in that. It doesn't make it easier but people always have an excuse. Nah, not a drama queen! We all do it. I am finally starting to calm down in general. I feel happy and balanced again and I don't feel strained with fiance. I think because we had the talk about him helping me make decisions, he has been very supportive and not goofy! We have good contact with all our guests, so I think I would know by now! The only iffy one is Shawn's cousin who is booking on her own. We know she hasn't booked yet, but has RSVP'd. *crossing fingers* I do feel I have A LOT to do. Final paperwork is due soon so really thinking thru flowers, and BMs bouquets and how to tie in fiance's shirt (turquoise) into my scheme. That has been a little ruffled, but I think I figured it all out!

I was a mess! I figured at one point we would be the only ones at our wedding. Heck! my dad waited until the final day to pay. Honestly though, you are right, everyone waits until the end. So a heads up on that - you may not see a lot of people pay until the last week, so 3 months is more than enough time! Edit: I was talking to another member this AM and she had people PAY the deposit, then not pay the final payment and they never once contacted her. WOW!! I was hoping since noone has verbally told us they aren't coming now, that our numbers will stand. But until that fat lady sings I guess there is no guarantee.

If you haven't picked your resort 100%, then you will probably need 3-4 weeks to settle on something once your TA is requesting quotes. The process was lengthier than I had imagined. The airlines easily took 1 week to send back a quote, and if there was errors (yes it happened, they would use the wrong gateway, etc.) I had to wait even longer. So by the time your STDs come in and you get them ready to go, you will probably have your resort and wedding date booked This is what I did - once I had decided what resort I wanted and the week, my TA emailed the resort's wedding department to find out what wedding dates were available for that week. Once we knew we could get my wedding in the same week, then I booked with Air Canada. Once Air Canada info was sent in, I then put my deposit down with my resort to hold my wedding date. Then I sent out my information. I wanted to make sure everything would work out before I sent any info to my guests/directed them to my website! Since I didn't do STDs, I didn't have to worry about who to also send invites too (see posts on that). I did my RSVP date as my deposit deadline to streamline things, but I figured it they were coming they would put down a deposit. Some didn't and they contacted us and said we may come but it will be last minute. So we gave them the deadline of October 1st (tomorrow!).
-
I also have to wonder if my timing just worked perfect for everything to be 90 days apart. What I mean is, our deposits were due 90 days after we signed the contract/locked in the quote, but had I have been getting married late next year our guests would have had more time to pay for their trip. I think most are due 90 ish days before travel, just worked out that way for our guests that 90 days before travel, was also 90 days after deposits were due.

So ours worked a little different. When we got quotes, we had 30 days to lock in the rate/sign the contract - to do this we had to pay our deposit - we paid $300 each for bride/groom and $200 each for our kids. With Air Canada this held 15 rooms/30 seats and our guests had 90 days to put down deposits. What was nice, is because we paid our deposits with signing of the contract we weren't included in the 15 rooms/30 seats, so more available for our guests! Once the 90 day deposit deadline passed, our guests then had another 90 days to make final payment or they lost the group rate. So we booked our resort early May, then deposits due early Aug (we made the deadline mid July to ensure everyone paid on time - this also was our RSVP date), then final payment due early November (again we made the deadline mid October for stragglers). What I did was book my resort early May and send invitations out mid May. I sent reminders/calls/texts early July to remind everyone to pay their deposit. I plan to do this again in a week or two to ensure everyone makes their final payment. If I had booked my resort earlier, I may have done STD's, then invites, but didn't have the time IMO! I wouldn't wait to lock your rates if you feel it's a good deal! If I had waited I may have been upset, as the listed price for my trip is well over $400 more than my guests are paying (when we booked, it was only $100 more, so prices have went up! I know it's because there is next to no room left on our plane as per AC). Hope that helps!

I agree, while everyone has their own opinion on what best suits them, there are a lot of women who wear strapless and wouldn't want to feel their dresses were considered 'ugly'. That's the beauty of choice! You can wear what you want and what you feel best in. Also, any strapless can be made to have sleeves, so win win! When I set out to get my dress I said I didn't want strapless whatsoever, and oddly they are the only ones I felt I looked good in!

My Wedding Dress Adventures
calgarybride2015 replied to malyna's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I don't think so! It's not heavy, but shear... and men wear long sleeves, which are thicker, so not really that different. I say pick what you like! -
I'm not doing them so free. Seriously though, the cards I am doing I am getting from vistaprint. If I hadn't found the groupon (thanks ladies!) I would have printed them myself! (brochures, tag for my maracas, wedpics card, 'oh shit' kit card, luggage tags). have you considered vistaprint or doing them yourself? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
