  1. Nope not all do. I have read of people using their website and/or sending an email. The reason I am is because I had originally bought luggage tags to use as my favors and then decided not too. Not to waste them, I am sending them out beforehand. What you are doing is more than enough!
  2. If you have OOT bags I'd put them in loose. Or you could get like a medium size ziplock type baggy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I am getting married January 21 and I am sending mine out early November. Just don't want to get into Christmas season and forget. I'm sending a brochure with resort info, wedding info, special events, etc. And a luggage tag per person! Almost ready to place my vistaprint order. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Pretty good. Have lots let to put together but coming along just about 3 months now. How about you? Is your resort in the Mayan? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. @@kimmyd2 First off, I have to laugh, I am Kim D. too! haha! So what happened was they found out they were changing schedules and put us on alert things would be changing. I had to sit and wait for a month and it killed me. We were going Sunday to Sunday and getting married on Wednesday. So at first they came back and said they had switched us to Monday and my travel agent knew that wouldn't fly, so she asked for us to be changed to Saturday and they approved it. So now we go Saturday to Saturday and marry Wednesday. I didn't ask to change my wedding date as it still works fine. This was for Calgary. My travel agent also had all the people in Toronto moved to the Saturday too. Thankfully it all worked out, it was stressful. No we didn't pay any extra, as it was still a direct flight. My travel agent didn't get me any specific perks at the resort. What I did get was the free wedding package (free if you have 10 double rooms booked for 7 nights). We chose this package and then did all the upgrades for what we wanted. This saved us $1866 ish. Also my TA got us upgraded to first class with Air Canada. Also Air Canada offered every 17th person for free, so at this point (if my numbers stand - final payment is next week) I get 2 trips free.
  6. We have 3 each and I personally would have liked it smaller. Fiance got all excited and went out and asked 3 guys before we even had the discussion, so that was that LOL!! oh well.
  7. My mother in law is watching our kids too. On the wedding night forsure, but she has offered every night and fiance nixed that! It is her vacation too, she isn't there only to babysit. The gesture as sure nice though! We are hoping we can ask my dad to take them the day after the wedding so we feel we got one day to ourselves to enjoy being newlyweds! I do believe I remember you mentioned that your mother's gift to you was your siblings going! I am happy that all your siblings are able to go!!!
  8. They can always change, just a heads up. In May we priced out resorts for January 2015 and May 2015. I was told May's schedule wouldn't be firm and things may get changed once the final schedule was confirmed. Well... We booked for January mid May and I found out in June schedules would be changing. Our flight was cancelled entirely and we got moved to another day. So just wanna throw out there that even less then a year in advance things can change too!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I couldn't find one in Calgary to return my phone calls, and didn't know of this site before I booked (ie - never knew of Laurielee). My travel agent is in BC, but we do everything thru email and/or over the phone. Her name is Christine Smith with Summit Travel. I can PM you all her info if you don't make headway anywhere else. She is free, but I plan to send her a thank you gift as she has done A LOT for us... including Air Canada cancelling our flight and advocating we get a new one we want. Let me know
  10. So was I, but I just started replying to everything and I got it in no time
  11. Personally, I agree that I think it is 'mean'. I am not sure I would use the word mean, but I think it's tacky. Yes it is frustrating that they haven't booked with you, but you should still be happy they are attending your wedding regardless. Know what I mean? How would you feel? They are still dishing out a lot of money to go to your wedding, so to leave them out because they didn't book with you just seems so unfair. Just my two cents.
  12. LOL!! I come on everyday and reply to all the threads I can offer advise on
  13. I could have the mariachi band at the reception. Most brides have it right after the ceremony from all the reviews I have read on my resort. Something to think about Thanks! I would be totally frustrated too, but I guess without this board we wouldn't know any different on how it came/does work!
  14. LOVE IT!!! Thanks for posting. I didn't know exactly what you had planned, so it was super fun to read thru it! I'd love to see the personalized hangers you made Good job! You must be super excited!!!!! EDIT - I just want to tell you that you gave me another new idea - the MR and MRS sign.. love it!! Fiance does too hehe.
  15. I am in Alberta, but my TA is in BC. Mainly because I couldn't get one in Calgary to return my phone calls. She isn't labelled a DW specialist but she sure knows her stuff Good luck!
  16. Good for you! I bet that feels like a relief. When we set out to get married we had 8 months and we picked a budget based on what we could save before the wedding. We set a tight budget to have it all saved by November 30th. Barring any things we forgot to budget for and/or surprises at the resort. It has been tough sometimes and it drives fiance nuts I am always crunching numbers.... but I said I would not have debt from my wedding and I think he will thank me for it later hehe. Thankfully he has been doing well at work (contractor) so I could do some of the extras I had my eye on but weren't in my original budget! Debt stresses me out, probably from digging myself out as a single parent (I was left with everything when I split with the kid's dad) so now I am very anal on what is charged and what is not, etc.
  17. And you could also get tonnes of neat props from the dollar store!!! I don't know where you live, but here in Canada, Dollarama has great stuff for DIY photo booths!
  18. Oh they sound lovely. We are also doing maracas and fans I've seen the ones done by Mexican companies and they are beautiful, your guests will love them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Ahhh that's much easier! Let us know what they say!! What are your favors? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I didn't even ask because I have heard shipping stuff to Mexico can be a complete nightmare. Doesn't make it at all or is late, then I have heard that customs can pick thru it and you don't even get all your stuff. As for them storing it? would be worth an email to find out. Are you thinking of shipping to Mexico or just a delivery of something you purchased in Mexico?
  21. We are paying for our own. No one has offered to help and we never even considered asking. I don't fully understand the tradition behind it so I figure if I want it, I save for it. Of course if they offered I wouldn't say no. The fact it's a destination wedding I am just happy people can afford to come. That said, my dad graciously offered to pay for our honeymoon. At first he offered our second week in Mexico but we can't make it work so he said we can use it for wherever we want. We have no idea the price amount. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. @@Dreamteam17 When I booked my package back in May they sent me all my locations to choose from, options for open bars, receptions, cakes, flowers, extras, etc. Did yours not? From then on I have just emailed them with questions, to get quotes for certain flowers, etc. This is what I am thinking 3:00-3:30pm ceremony 3:30-4:00pm quick toast and group photos 4:00-5:00pm mariachi band then guests can head over to the palapa for open bar/sign guestbook/mingle. I want to see some of the mariachi band/have photos with them, so I assume I will do photos with groom from about 415pm-515pm 500pm ish - 11pm will be reception dinner and dancing 11pm - disco I was going to do 330pm as I said above, but if it runs late I definitely can't see any of the mariachi band as I want to ensure I have atleast 1 hour for photos! Also scared to lose the light! I think my layout is also fairly standard for my resort when the palapa is used (covered hut like building on the private beach) We aren't using an A'la Carte for dinner. Yours sounds great! Our final payments are due October 17, so also hoping to see that our final numbers stick!
  23. Have you considered doing one yourself? It would definitely be a cheaper alternative! The reason I ask is because the photographer we are using also does them for $500 a pop! Seems a bit steep when it's something you could totally pull off on your own. Either with a camera on a tripod or people taking pictures of eachother.
  24. I originally had thought 330pm but changed it to 300pm to ensure enough light for photos and honesty, I want to enjoy the mariachi band too! Also incase it doesn't start on time. I've been told we lose light at 530pm! We have to have in our menu selections, timing, songs, seating chart, cake and flower selections, etc. I'm sure it's ok if it changes some by the time we arrive but maybe they just want a heads up on what to expect. What's your ceremony time and timeline for the day/night. I think I have mine down if you wouldn't mind giving your opinion! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
