  2. We aren't very traditional either. To be quite honest I haven't put much thought into the 'timeline' of our reception other than the start and end times! lol I do know we have decided against a bouquet and garter toss! We have also been talking about combining the father/daughter and mother/son dances as neither of us really want to do them!! so we will combine them to get them over quicker we almost thought about having them come out mid way thru our dance to just do them all in one song! I don't like being the center of attention (can you tell?) Speeches are up in the air as most people said they are to shy but will really do it if we want them too! sigh! I hope we can get a few people together, as I think it will be sweet. I hadn't planned on renting the screen/projector but a slide slow of your guests and you growing up is a cute idea. Not sure I have the patience for it. I would love if we could play games -- like beersbie or beer pong, etc. but just not sure how practical that is. Thoughts from past brides? We will have glow sticks haha but that is more an accessory.
  3. I don't think you have to decide until you know how many people are coming, or atleast have a general idea! I am using my BMs bouquets as well, but I ordered an extra one (we have 4 tables and I have 3 BMs) because I wasn't sure if I will need mine for extra pictures or whatever. Just want it free just in case. I know that our flowers from the ceremony are coming over to the reception and will be used on the head table and cake table. I wanted to rent vases but didn't get very far asking the WC so I ordered blume boxes for ease of us (cardboard, lay flat for travel, etc.). They were pricey due to shipping (ugh) but I had my heart set on them so I sucked it up. We can have 10 seats per table, so if I have a couple extra people book last minute I can still make it work!
  4. For me it's not the pain, it's more people seeing me lady parts lol What is funny is that I am a nurse in obstetrics/women's health and I see lady parts everyday and I tell these women 'we see them all the time, no need to be uncomfortable' but I am no better hahah!
  5. From my understanding it's just the gifts. They want receipts and an explanation 'I'm getting married and these are for our guests' as they don't want you selling them in Mexico. I think you are fine If you have a lot of one thing in your decor items I might bring the receipt just in case. But I think it's more the personal items in bulk (OOT) I'd bring receipts for. There is a fantastic page I posted yesterday in a 'newbie' thread on Mexico's custom restrictions, etc which is worth a read. I can't post it now as I'm On my phone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I also agree about vertical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Exciting!! If nothing else your last few weeks will fly by. We don't leave until January 17 soooo 3 months. Yay!!! I am awaiting my vistaprint order and a couple other things. Otherwise I can start to put it all together. Can't wait to hear all about it and see pics!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. You get some time to relax before the big day. Nice!!! Feeling pressure? That's sooo soon. Did you get to the states yet? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Thankfully I bought my dress right after Cuba when I was up weight so this loss is accounting for that hehe. I'm on par or a little less from when I bought my dress. So 5 more will work well and I shouldn't need any alterations done!!! But.... I may lose a little more to help over Christmas as we marry less than a month after. I'm more worried about swell hell not gaining on the trip pre wedding! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I totally understand 100%. We have decided that our reactions as I walk down the isle are the most important to us. The only other thing I can suggest is that you do it the next day?
  11. I think it is a great idea! If you are sure none of them have one, then I say go for it. I think the fact you have one and think the quality is on par is fantastic. That is always my worry with that stuff - is it worth the money? We bought a waterproof camera before Cuba in March, it was a little more expensive but it was probably the best $350 I ever spent on a camera. We use it ALL THE TIME!! so with that said, I think your BMs will LOVE IT!! Good for you to think of new ideas. That was my fault early on. I have only been in one wedding, so I copied her then realized it wasn't what I wanted to do, so then I purchased a lot more! haha lucky girls!
  12. There is a whole thread, recent - won't be hard to find - about seeing your groom before the wedding. It's a 50/50 toss up on what to do. Some are, some aren't. I would suggest doing it after your reception, but by then you would be exhausted and possibly sweaty (hehe). In your case, if the two of you are comfortable, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Let us know what you decide. EDIT: here is the thread - http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/78037-seeing-your-h2b-before-the-ceremony-starts/
  13. Is this something needed for the DR? Are you legally marrying there or in Canada? I am legally marrying in Canada and from all I have read and/or heard from commissionaires of marriage (forgetting their real name lol), we just need a marriage license from the registry! They are about $76.
  14. 1 day shy of a month!!! woohoo!!! What day do you fly out on?
  15. http://www.aduanas.gob.mx/aduana_mexico/2008/pasajeros/139_10178.html This site is worth a read thru. Answers a lot of questions!
  16. I have never seen bottles on a resort. The only time I saw a can was from the mini-bar in the rooms. Everywhere was draft beer or mixed drinks. Wine usually came in a wine glass. While I love the beer koozie idea, I don't think they would get used on the resort, but more back home!
  17. We have LARGE bubbas! I'll see if I have a picture. There is no way we could get these for our guests, we would need 10 suitcases, but they are awesome. If you look at the table behind me, you can see a couple single cups, the large one behind them are empty ones stacked up. They are tiny. The ones I had last time in Mexico were a bit bigger, but not like a tumbler or bubba! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I have a month!!! I set out to lose 10-12 lbs in 3 months (Aug-Nov), I lost the 10 in the first 6 weeks, then hurt my back and have been side lined. I am up a couple lbs, so I have one month to lose 3-5 lbs. Just have to commit. You can do it!!!!!!
  19. I have no idea re resort credits. Don't think my resort does that. A group excursion would be fun - like a catamaran booze cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Was that at xplor? I went last year and LOVED it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yes in all inclusive resorts the cups they use at the bars are generally pretty small. I've had cups that only fit 1/2 a beer. So typically people bring Insulated mugs that the bartenders fill for them which serves 2 purposes - less trips to bar as bigger than their cups and it's insulated so stays cooler in the sun. There are bubba's, any travel mug, tumblers, stadium cups all used on here! Everyone resort I've been to has been more than willing to fill people's cups up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. It's tough and I totally agree with you. To be quite honest my original list was 'wedding coordinator and spa' but reading on here has had me thinking. Like I said I have no percentages in my mind but I doubt it will be a %. It will be more what I think is fair. As you said we are already paying thousands upon thousands but the sad part is those staff won't see any of it. It would be easier to say 'here's our tip spread amongst everyone' but I'm sure that is tricky too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I have the same amount! I'm marrying at 3pm and wouldn't mind starting around 10am lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
