Depends how quick the seller ships (which is listed in their policies section of their listing), also where you live and where they are shipping from. For USA to Canada I would give anywhere between 1-3 weeks. Generally I get things in 2 weeks, but have had some come as quick as 1 week, and some longer at 3-3.5 weeks. I have ordered 2 things from the UK and got them both in 3 weeks. I have considered ordering from China, but being about 2.5 months out I am a little nervous too. I also look for any Canadian shops too (you can search for Canadian shops to see - options on left side). Have ordered a few things from Canadian sellers which of course come the quickest since I am in Canada lol

Deciding Color Scheme
calgarybride2015 replied to amanda2016's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I understand 100%. I was pretty naive about weddings - I didn't realize people used more than one color. This board opened my eyes to a lot of things, lol, and in turn I spent more money Time is a blessing and a hindrance. Happy planning! -
I know a few brides who take inspiration from there and make things themselves. I have done it too, others I just can't replicate the same so pay for it LOL!!!! I think I like the high of waiting for something to come in the mail, because I swear I am done shopping but continue to find things I could purchase

Deciding Color Scheme
calgarybride2015 replied to amanda2016's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I think they are all great. I am partial to pink, so I love the fuchsia and navy combo! We are doing fuchsia, orange, and turquoise. It evolved over time from just fuchsia lol -
LOL I think we all are. I have bought a tonne of stuff off of etsy, too much to list! I even shopped on Etsy before I was engaged. Great site.

Welcome and congrats on your wedding date. Our TA also recommended GS and once we had booked we actually found out that we knew a slew of people who have stayed and married there, so we were super happy with our choice. I think you'll find that the resort photographer has changed since the earlier posts. No packages include photography anymore and it's a different company. Just want to throw that out there. Not saying all brides choose to use the resort photographer - Adventure Photos - but wanted to make sure you knew. I booked Perla from there for our wedding but I'm currently debating my decision. Not because I'm worried about her but because with TIME I seem to be changing my mind a lot haha. You can request certain photographers from their company. That's what I did - I looked thru all their work, picked what I liked the best and asked who did the work. My contract states to use an outside photog you pay $300 USD plus a day pass for each person entering, so if you have 2 coming you pay twice. From my research the cheapest package you'll find for about 5 hours is $1600, for full 8 hour coverage would probably land you $2500-3000 depending on the photographer. Lots started as $2500. To throw in a TTD would raise that. I can give you ones to look up that came back reasonably priced if you are interested. If the photographer comes with you and is a guest for more than 2 nights you don't pay a fee. You'd have to ask the photog what their charges are. I looked into it and got 3 answers. One wanted a trip paid and package paid. One wanted 2 trips paid. One would pay their own trip but wanted package paid and spending bonus. They are all different so you'd have to ask. Good luck! Boards been super quiet lately but I am still around if you have other questions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agree 100%. I get helping the guests with the heat but you also need photos and such and there is only so much time for those. I am marrying at 3pm in January. We lose sun at 530pm. No nice sunsets like the PV side. So once it's gone it's gone. I had originally said 330pm but if it starts late we are rushed. Like said above it's 30-60mins and they can seek shelter if need be. In my pre travel brochures I reminded them they couldn't get back to their rooms and to bring all amenities, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. Our location is secluded though. Glad you found a new dress. Yay!!! I never really once thought my fiancé wouldn't be wowed with the dress. I figured it was everything - the marriage, the moment of seeing me, how I look as a whole that would just overwhelm him. I never once thought ' I wonder if this will wow him' I just picked what I loved cause I'm the one wearing it. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you, I appreciate your opinion. I think it's the safer bet at this point! So we will see what comes of it. I know when I had my surgery last year December, I just never really got back into the gym the way I would like. After my 8 weeks off my fav jeans no longer fit in my thighs - toning! So I got back into it, then the wedding plan just really interupted my life which was once heavily occupied with working out. About a month ago I was going a Jillian Michael's class at the gym and I just tweaked it wrong. I have back issues, but it was in check with all the exercise I was doing to support the core. So I was off for a few weeks and just last week went back to weights - hahah I could barely walk for 3 days. I don't want to overdue it like you said. I did Body Flow once, like Yoga, and I always just laugh and say I don't bend that way. I should give hot yoga a try though, the new Goodlife in Deerfoot Mall offers it. I don't want to look like I am making excuses. I bought the dress becuase it fit, unfortunately the dress that came didn't fit the same. I gained a bit this summer, but got it off plus some.So i thought I was still pretty good to go - I had the dress on in August!!!! I don't know, this is my normal weight anyways, I can't beat it to death, I have to move on. I actually went to a place in the same mall as Hair Dimensions. They have been there for eons, and I had actually called someone in the NW my friend recommended but they were too busy. I asked if she would trust this store and she said yes. The lady was very knowledgable. Guess we will see Dec 3 when I go back in! Thanks again ladies for the support, I was super upset last night and cried hahaha!!!

Awe thank you so much! You put it into words better than me! I don't wanna scrabble last minute. I used to do weights 2-3 times a week and now I'm lucky to do one. I don't know what happened - oh yes I was planning a wedding and it just got away from me. Was a nice wake up call I guess! Again thank you for helping me feel at ease. I would have called them but I already went with this lady. I was just going to go for a quote but then all of a sudden we were pinning my dress and such lol. She knew her stuff. She was an older Chinese lady and that stores been there for eons. She had wedding thank cards everywhere and even a lady came in who had a dress altered. I have to trust her! I really have no more to go on at David's bridal either. It's a wedding dress store but I have no recommendations on their actual work you know? Hahaha if she ruins my dress I'll know by dec 3. I felt confident in her and what she was saying and showing me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I leave January 17. I've had two quotes now. David's bridal wanted $250 For a hem and a bustle and this lady wants $300-$350'for a hem, bustle and for the dress to be taken out. Its the fact I have extensive bead work around the dress and she'd have to duplicate it when the dress is taken out. The time needed to do it all is intense. Everyone I phoned and/or talked to wanted atleast 2 months for alterations so 2 weeks to take a dress out and duplicate the beadwork is just not something I'm personally comfortable with. I feel better for her to take it out, cause I really only have 5-6 weeks before it needs to be worked on and I am not sure the damage I could make is enough - if I look at 1lbs per week. I'm more of a control freak so I feel this way I control the situation some and don't leave it to chance. I'm just more shocked at how bad it really was. My friends mentioned it being hard to zip up but no one mentioned the zipper bulging, etc. She said if she added a couple more hooks the zipper might be safe but the piece of dress that's left to cover the zipper was even pushed out and we could see the zipper. No one mentioned that to me. I guess I feel if the seamstress is scared to zip it up, it's for a good reason lol I'll work hard till December 3 and go from there. If she takes the dress back in to original size then I can kick myself but chances are I'll need a little bit of that extra room. Lesson learned. Only by the size that fits in the store IF you are buying that exact dress. Otherwise go up a size to account for stretching, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My dress is a 12. Yes all the same undergarments. I'm a street size 8. Hind site I would have bought the 14 and sized it back to a 12.25 haha. But she never told me too I've been this weight for a couple years and since it fit I figured I'd just stay here! Win win. Just feel so much pressure. We are under 3 months now and realistically we all know alterations start months in advance. It's do or die. I just never saw this coming. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Ps don't worry about your dress because it's the same. My problem is more that I probably should have gotten the 14 to be safe. Since you plan to take yours in, you are fine. I planned for it to be left as is and my plan just didn't hold! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I posted this in my planning thread too, but though I would also post it here. So when I was in David's Bridal I fit the dress like a glove. Noone suggested the dresses would fit smaller when ordered in, though it makes sense, and to just go with what fit there. So I did. When it came in back in July and I put it on at home I knew it was noticeably more snug (I have posted this on the board a couple times). I figured I would lose 5 lbs and be good to go -- I would just like it a bit more comfortable and I needed to account for the swelling in Mexico that I am accustomed too. I've had the dress on 4-5 times, most recent in August where I took the pictures posted in my thread. Fit the same but again could lose a smidge more for those 'just in case' concerns (swelling, drinking booze, etc.) Fast forward to this evening. Went in to get a quote for the hem and bustle and...wait for it... she couldn't even get the dress done up! I have LOST a couple lbs since August, OMG. I had to basically beg her but she warned me we may blow the zipper. She immediately suggested we add more hooks to help! It could be that I haven't been into the weights much since I hurt my back a few weeks ago? flabby not tight? I don't know. Anyways she says it's just my back and everything else is fine she wouldn't adjust it anywhere else. She gave me two choices.... 1. leave it until early December and see what damage I can do at the gym/on the scale in 5 week (but we all know I can't spot reduce to only lose weight on my back lol) 2. she can take it out 1 inch and then when I go back in early December she can alter it to my body then. I chose number 2 for a couple reasons.... The dress doesn't fit properly right now, so even if I lost weight to make it fit I need to account for swelling and all that is about to come up (stagette, xmas, xmas parties, new years, etc.) I can maintain I am confident, but aiming to lose 10-15 seems risky! Also, I don't want to show up early December and need it taken out and then she has to RUSH to get it done in a month. I would rather her have time to do the best she possibly can. Did I do the right thing? I feel I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. I know if I gave this advice to someone else, I would tell them to size it to how they are now. I probably could have waited until December to see what damage I could do in 5 weeks, but honestly it would be 5-8 lbs at most and that just may not make a difference She said when I go back in, in December if she needs to take it back in some she can.. she will leave the intricate bead work until last. I think I probably did the right thing. It's not depressing I am having my dress taken out, it's probably more upsetting that I weigh less now and it won't do up LOL it's also scary because the dress is that important - IT NEEDS TO FIT IN MEXICO!!! It's so stressful. She asked if I wanted it taken up 1/2 inch more to account for sinking in the sand. Did anyone else do this? I said no because I will be on cement a lot more than just the ceremony time. We compromised on the outside layer being ground length and the under layers being the 1/2 inch shorter. oh ps - she said I can't get a corset, there isn't enough material. This will cost about $300-$350 with her taking it out/alter, hem, and bustle. Davids wanted $250 for a hem and bustle...

Thank you. This is one splurge (possible unnecessary item) that I think I am going to go ahead with. My hair has been that one thing I have always been most stressed out - never clothes, never makeup, never shoes, just my hair. So I want to make sure whatever we decide can hold up in the hot weather. Sent all my paperwork in, and asked re taxes, but this last reply back has been terribly slow. Hopefully they don't have another staff change up!

There has been quite a few threads on this, believe it or not. Did you have the dress back on since it came in? I would suggest that, sometimes you need to get it back on to realize how much you do love it. Also, why did you love it and purchase it in the first place? Try to remind yourself of that. If you really just can't wrap your head around it then maybe you could go out and look again. I just believe there will always be another, we can love more than one thing. So be careful because you don't want to end up buying 5 dresses Good luck.
