  1. If you haven't spoken to a TA yet I recommend it. They were able to steer us to resorts they knew were coming back in a reasonable price point. Our top choices ended up being ones the TA recommended, ones I would never have considered and/or knew of before I met with her.
  2. At this point I plan to have them assembled in the suitcase. Minus the straw as they get in the way of packing them back to back to back. We will add the straws in Mexico. Our flight lands at 230pm and we planned our welcome drinks for 730pm, so I don't really feel like getting there and rushing to assemble them all. I was also dorky enough to weigh it all to make sure it fits specifications If I am in a bind and need a bit more space for decor I may stack them. But stacking them, then having the hangover/oh sh!t contents packed separately may take just as much space. Did that make sense? If I wasn't putting the supplies in the cups, I would probably just stack them.
  3. Welcome back! Glad you had a great vacation - sounds awesome! Love the re-proposal Everything is looking great. not sure if it's the colors of the computer, but I don't think the cover up looks bad at all. I think it and the dress look great!!!! I personally prefer the second program, and think you should share your source in case I decide to do one hahaha! I just love the fun, upbeat'ness (yes I made a word) of it, which shows your personalities.
  4. If you stack your cups you can save space. If you have them full with lid on (we are putting stuff in our cups) we need a 30 inch suitcase to fit 48. Heheh yes I tried! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Each type of vendor at my resort is different. All need to be approved and prices vary. I'm not overly worried. I started with doing my hair and makeup alone so using the spa for trial and wedding is a HUGE step for me haha But ya it sucks how they suck every cent out of you. . 6. My resort charges the vendor fee per person getting services just made it sooooo expensive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I shipped from Australia once and it took 3 months maybe it was their shipping choice? So I've stayed away this time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Funny you ask. I saw an old post with a fantastic font the other day and it made me sad I wouldn't know where to find it's name. Hope someone can help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. From my time on this board it isn't recommended for a few reasons. 1. Sometimes it doesn't make it in time 2. Customs picks threw it and you don't get all your stuff 3. Resorts don't like to hold stuff for you. Good luck. I just plan to put everything in checked baggage except my outfit/wedding attire and jewelry. Plus anything breakable. 10. I totally understand considering the cost of alterations. Was just trying to find a solution. Good luck selling it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. @@acw271011 Opinion always appreciated. Weight does put a lot of pressure on us, especially thru the Christmas season. I told fiance in hindsite maybe we wouldn't have married so close after Christmas HAHA jk of course. I feel your struggle with your appetite coming back, just make good conscious decisions and I bet you can keep a lot of it off. So update on calling David's Bridal. They let me speak to the manager. I expressed my concern that I wasn't warned that the stock dresses would be a bit larger and to be prepared for my dress to be tight. I told her I had called back in July with my concern also. She mentioned that 50% of people have their dresses taken OUT and it's really not uncommon. (not sure if that is an accurate stat). She said they can be taken in or out 2 sizes. she apologized that noone warned me of this. She went into the system and checked my measurements and said 'she ordered you a 12 right?' she said my measurements bounced between a 10/12 and one a 12/14. She said she wouldn't have done anything different for me - she would have suggested I order a 12. She said it's much cheaper and easier for them to take out one area to make the dress fit me in a size 12, then it is to buy me a 14 and take the dress in extensively. It makes sense BUT noone told me this. Had alterations told me if they had seen me in the dress? I don't know if that is alterations job, but if so then maybe the lady should have been adamant I wait to see them. I waited 30 mins and another lady she said they were busy and just gave me a general quote from their book on a hem and bustle because that is all I thought I needed! Anyways the manager said she could try to get me a 14, but it's a bit late now as I have left my dress with the new seamstress and quite possible she has started to work on it. If she isn't blowing smoke, I guess she makes some sense. It is probably easier to just take out the back panel a smidgen, than it is to alter to the whole dress back down to a 12.25 size lol. I just wish someone would have told me that as I left the store thinking 'yay I have a dress that fits me like a glove' I am happy with my decision to have the process started. I have made a pact to get back into weights 2-3 times a week and see what damage I can do myself before December 3. My gut tells me that chances are I need a little extra room in there anyways so I didn't make the wrong decision. Thanks for listening to me vent. I knew things were bound to go wrong and this was one of them. I should have known from the minute I put the dress on back in July and August, but I guess I was naive to how big the issue really was.
  12. Is there anyway you could wear both? One to ceremony and one to reception? That way you don't feel like you lost A LOT of money and when you do sell it you can accept less than you may have wanted because you know you've worn if? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Welcome and congrats. I've never done a phone call/skype with my resort so can't comment there, but hopefully another Moon Palace bride will. Picking the destination is one of the toughest parts, now you can plan the fun stuff. I know there is other big decisions to make and you will find lots of reviews here. It's a great board, I'm sure you'll become just as addicted as we all are Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. All beautiful. #3 and 5 I like best. Like @@tygrrlily said when you find it you'll know I wasn't going to get a second dress but since my dress stress fiancé says I should get a reception dress. He causes he budget problems lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. @@TinkerSofi I had my hair done Friday and I mentioned you to Cheryl. She asked for your dad's name and I wasn't sure (of course haha)... It put it on her radar though. So funny. Thank you for your review of Ellen at Perfect Stitches. I asked my hairdresser too and she said a lot of her clients use this lady and have no complaints. She actually felt she would be fairly pricey LOL I called David's Bridal today to clear my chest heheh... ok I wasn't that upset, just annoyed. Will post that in a minute or two
  16. Since you can get it on site I think it may be worth it. I can't, so I am going to be happy with regular makeup! and truth be told, I didn't even know of airbrush makeup before this site! I went from doing everything myself, to getting it done in the salon with a trial, ha!
  17. I think you should invite people who mean something to you and who you want at your wedding. Just because you've known her for 8 years doesn't mean she gets an auto invite. Just my opinion! I invited 2 coworkers to Mexico. Both are super close to me outside of work. One I knew before we became coworkers and she is also a bridesmaid. We hand delivered invites. I don't see this as tacky, well amongst my family and friends anyways. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Congrats! Personally if you want anyone to dance and/or do plan to promote that people dance, I think you need a dance floor. It would be difficult to dance on the sand I would think and it may deter people from doing so. I find it hard to walk on the sand, so dancing would be harder. If you don't care if people dance or not, then maybe not splurge for it. We are having our reception on a hard surface so I don't feel it's necessary for us, but had I have been in your situation I would probably have spent the money. That said, I am hoping it's a big dance party so it would be more important to me. Hope that helps some.
  19. Well and congrats!!! I loved varadero Cuba. I got engaged there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. What exactly do you want? Because your package and locations can be confirmed when you pay your deposit. I took the free package with upgrade to palapa and I was told numerous times I was booked for that and good to go! That was big for me. I sent in my paperwork last week, as they requested it 3 months in advance, and that listed the extras I wanted (flowers, DJ, spa, menu, etc). I think a month before you get your actual WC and tie everything up! Thanks for the heads up on the email. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Nice to hear from you! I was having great response from Kenya, but sent her a question and all my paperwork almost a week ago and nothing. It's a bit frustrating. Was considering emailing her again. Is she still there? Glad you have picked up your dresses and such! If it makes you feel better about your daughter's dress...when I picked up mine from David's Bridal it was more snug than the rack dress. Makes sense but noone warned me. Went to get a quote on alterations and the lady was scared to zip it up. I made her, but it was hard. I knew it was snug but I had it on in August and I didn't think it was THAT bad. Well she is going to take it out an inch She gave me 2 choices - see the damage I can do in 5 weeks at the gym or take it out. I chose the latter. I haven't even gained weight - I am so angry. And just hope it all works out because we are kind of out of time, AND I paid for the darn thing. Ugh, oh well, she got it done up, so taking it out 1/2 inch will do the trick. Everywhere else fit great she said it was just the back panel that needed a bit more room. I have to trust this will work hahah but we get into a bridal panic. Anyways, sorry on a rant there..... Depending where you order his suit from would depend if 40 days was enough. USA and Canada you should probably be safe. I get most things from USA in 3 weeks. You could pay for upgraded shipping? Good luck and look forward to hearing more about what you have going on! and your wedding!
  22. Congrats! Glad you had a fabulous wedding. Your pictures are beautiful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. LOL!!! I only have used pinterest since being engaged, just for inspiration.. not early as addicted to it as I am to this board and Etsy!.
  24. $200 is steep! Regular makeup at my resort is around $85, if I am remembering correctly, so from that perspective maybe $200 isn't that ridiculous. It is pricey though, the companies you can hire in the Mayan are cheaper than my resort! If you are super stressed about your makeup, would you consider doing a trial? Possibly it would be cheaper than the wedding day -- our resort is, but not by much. Hair is my big fear so I am doing a hair trial, but not a makeup trial. I am also into the natural look, but I think you can have a natural look without being a 80's hooker LOL!!!! Ask for natural shades and such. I don't think in this day and age they will be caking it on, but I could be wrong. Our resort also had good reviews - more for hair than makeup, as it seems lots of brides do their own makeup. EDIT: what about having MAC or Sephora teach you here and do it yourself? Then you have their tips and tricks, but you get to do it yourself?
  25. I don't have first hand experience but I've been read two recent reviews on this board where they didn't get airbrush and it stayed on the entire day. Jackielenman at moon palace and then okotoksbride from my resort -- she mentioned they sprayed her face after to hold it in place. Given these recent reviews I am just going to stick to my resorts spa. We get charged per person using offsite hair/makeup services so that fee is just way to hard to swallow. Also leaving the resort was on my radar but still not sure I wanna be offsite. The day will be busy and people trying to be in contact with us - WC, family, photographer etc and not sure I wanna deal with traveling off site and not being available for last minute issues, family trying to do my daughter's hair, etc. Good luck.
