  1. I think what you are feeling is probably very normal. I have had my concerns over this as well, but on the flip side it is also their vacation and you can only do so much. You aren't responsible for the fun they had, etc. I think this is partially why I also encouraged the singles to bring a plus one. You can't be in 50 places and you can't always be with everyone entertaining them. If you had time to spend with everyone at some point thru out the week I think you did the best you could. The wedding has demands of you, you have 50 people to see/spend time with, and you also want some time with your new husband - you are only one person!!! Sorry your friend made you feel that way. It's probably par for the course, but try not to let it bother you. I also have to throw in that I am travelling with my 2 kids who's needs will always come first. I appreciate your feelings though. I had my bachelorette last weekend and I didn't get to spend a lot of time with everyone. We had a casino night at my friends home, so you socialized with the people at your table but when things changed up if you still weren't at the same table with X, you just missed them. I don't think anyone was troubled by this, but I feel a little guilty. I just made sure to thank everyone for coming. Most people understand.
  2. Thanks for posting. I love that stamp but for my postcards it may not work Here's what I've done--maybe I'll just leave the date off. I found a set that's perfect on eBay but it's china so I doubt they'd arrive in time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Good point!!! I can't edit my post above, but the free package at my resort is only for 10 people!!!!
  4. Welcome! From my experience they are only free if you meet the criteria that makes it free. At my resort you can have the silver package for free if you have 10 double rooms booked for 7 consecutive nights. If you don't meet this requirement I believe the silver package runs about $1866 Canadian. Just to give you an idea, this is what the free package at my resort includes: minister fee, WC, bride's bouquet, groom's bout, decorated wedding location - so basic white chair covers, and some flowers at the arch, music during ceremony, toast and appies after, reception in ala carte for 1.5 hours non private, wedding cake, honeymoon breakfast in bed, romantic dinner in the ala carte on site that costs $$ for all guests, fruit basket and wine, and surprise gift What I chose to do was take the free package as it covered a lot of good basics, but then I upgraded a few things to make it the wedding I had envisioned - I wanted a private location for my reception, I wanted a longer reception time with open bar, I wanted a Mariachi band, I wanted a larger bouquet, etc. etc. So while I saved the approx. $1866 my wedding is still upwards of $5000. Had I have just taken the larger packages, I would have paid closer to $8000 so this was still a better bet for us. So with that said, I totally think you can do the free package .... but you may find yourself with extra costs because you end up wanting more things than are included. Hope that helps some!
  5. That's too bad they don't have samples, but atleast you can say you tried -- did they have any dresses you liked? When we ordered our dresses we had to take a leap of faith too. 2 of the 3 BM's live in BC. Thankfully myself and other BM were in David's Bridal to see that their measurements/dress sizes are fairly accurate. We lucked out. They need minor alterations but the sizes were appropriate. I already stamped a lot of them because I really like the look, so going for a label wouldn't work at this point. I had considered that early on though!! Either I will find something or we will leave the date off. I mean it's a guestbook, so not every page has your wedding info on it - meaning it's not the end of the world but I would prefer it. It's like the postal code of the address hehe.
  6. Calgary brides.. I am desperate, does any one have very small number stamps? I have the letters but can't find numbers to go with. No bigger than 1/4 of an inch... my girlfriend had some that are 1/2 of an inch but they are much too big. I am using these to personalize the postcards we are using for our guestbook. I could leave our wedding date off but would like it there if possible. Thanks!!!!!
  7. I second Kim! But I also agree it's great to be flexible in your dates. We seriously picked our date because it was one of the cheapest weeks price for our guests was super important as we also have people paying close to 10k to come! Also you being flexible on your location will also be super help to you! Like I said above some parts of one country will be cheaper than others - puerto Vallarta is generally Cheaper than Cancun and the Mayan, etc. The travel agent can guide you thru all this this is the toughest part but once you pick a location and resort the fun of planning can begin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Had another thought -- I also was a bit shocked by prices as I have saw a lot cheaper posted. Something to think about -- you may find resorts that you've seen at rock bottom prices may not be a location you dream of for for wedding, their wedding packages may not suit your needs, budget, etc or overall The resort may not meet the needs of you and all your guests. We hit this snag too and prices were also higher than I had seen. I was told prices are going up!!! Just something else to think about -- make a list of your must haves for your wedding and resort. Will help narrow resorts down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks!!!!!I also have a lot if products collecting dust. I totally agree about the chi spray. The revlon one isn't a spray but I swear if you get a smidge to much it's greasy ugh. Who would have ever thought tresomme would have these products. I tend to sway to the salons for these type of products. I will definitely check them out Thanks for the tips. My hair isn't badly damaged but a trained eye or someone who also has damaged hair could probably tell. It's more my bangs and sides by ears where I can reach the best!!! 9. When we started looking I was told Mexico would be the cheapest bet so I kind of just stuck to that so I can't say one way or another. Personally I paid more in Cuba than Mexico when I've travelled but with Cuba I did go during spring break and had concierge service which would run up the price. We are going for 7 nights in January to the Mayan Riviera. Our costs include airfare, hotel, transfers and taxes -- Toronto is paying $1465 and Calgary $1565. This is for a 5* resort and I think it's decent price. The cheapest we could find in our time frame was in Puerto Vallarta and then the Grand Palladium was $1250 from Calgary. I suggest a good travel agent. She can stear you towards resorts you'd never consider but knows will come back in your price range. They can also help get you better deals at the resort, help book your wedding, etc. Also play around on Expedia and See what ranges of pricing is out there for the weeks you are considering -- from my experience group bookings should beat these prices. We are booked with Air Canada. Our group rate was always lower than any listed price on the internet which really helped people to book with us. We also got a free upgrade to first class and every 17 person booked we got a free trip -- we ended up getting 2! Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. What's your favorite heat protector? I have used a few by Chi and Revlon but still haven't found one I am overly excited about. I don't like the sprays that is why I moved away from Chi. I have damage from flat ironing my hair everyday. I do use Cynos hair treatment mask once a week that does wonders. Thanks!
  11. Yay can't wait to see it all We just got our marriage license too. I had to go to the registry so figured we may as well! Excited for you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. They should be guests! A lot of people use friends or do their hair/makeup themselves and it's my understanding this is ok. I would just confirm what your day pass parameters are -- our contract states they can only come on site 1 hour before the ceremony. So that'd be worth knowing if she's doing everyone's hair. 13. I could be mistaken but I think she's marrying at an off site location!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I know I am not staying at your resort, but I think most of us have had this frustration. Honestly, I emailed everyone 2 weeks in advance, and then at 1 week I sent a final reminder to everyone who hadn't placed their deposits in that previous week. But in all honesty people waited until the final hour to pay - we got most our deposits on the last day. I think it is fair to email them once or twice especially if the deadline is looming, because we had people thank us for reminding them as they had gotten busy and forgot.
  15. Welcome! Their email response has went down hill since their computers crashed late October. I know other brides, marrying in the next few weeks, who are very frustrated by this. Kenya isn't a coordinator persay, she isn't the one who is assigned for your wedding day, but she answers all the questions. Apparently they are so bogged down right now that Liliane (who is a coordinator) is helping her answer emails. Keep on them! Have your TA step in if need be. Adventure Photos is the resort photograher. Were you told you could use Photos in Cancun as well without paying the $300 outside vendor fee? I am shocked if you say yes! I didn't know this! I chose to use Adventure Photos but I did some research - I got a lot of links sent to me by Adventure Photos and I picked my favorite work. I then asked who took these photos as the photographers change. I then requested her. I am happy with this decision. You can email adventure photos directly - do you have their email? They will send you tonnes of their work done at the resort. I have considered an outside photographer and only a couple peak my interest. I am into clean and crisp, nothing over the top or over edited. I thought the mariachi and mexican trio were the same thing?? I'd have to go back to my extra price list and see, but I know I booked the 3 man band! Hope this helps some. Let me know what you were told about photography!
  16. Exactly!! We only have 2 couples outstanding -- one was Shawn's cousin who's a little hard up right now so they were a wait and see. The other is his other cousin who, due to union regulations, couldn't ask for holidays until November 1st. So remember awhile back when I mentioned that Shawn's cousin and mom were asking if it was ok if this cousin's sister and her husband also joined our trip and came to the wedding? We told them we would think about it and within a few days told them they were welcome and gave them the info to RSVP. Well, I guess they aren't coming as they never RSVP'd. This same cousin swore up and down to count them in (3 of them) and they would book on their own as their son works for Westjet. Well we hadn't heard anything so we sent them the pre-travel package. Get a call that they can't come, he has a meeting. Kind of annoying since SHE was the one pushing for her sister to come and then none of them come!
  17. I didn't test them out. But once you laminate them the person can't add their info -- unless you did it for them and I wanted to(possibly) have my guests use theirs again/be able to change the info, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Sears didn't have those when I was looking!!! Great find Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Great prices and dresses!!! Where was this site when I searched hi and low LOL!!! Awesome choices This is what my bridesmaids are wearing... the color is Begonia and it's from David's Bridal.
  20. This is a hard one and was addressed not to long ago - will try to remember under which thread. Personally for me I felt that if people politely declined before invites were sent out you didn't have to send one. Like that was their RSVP.... but, I had a friend tell me point blank to count her out. So knowing that I didn't send her an invite and months later I found out she had been in a 'tiff' about it all this time and hasn't really spoken to me since. I told her why I didn't send the invite, and got no response so I decided to just move on and not engage in the high school behavior. That said, I think you should just send one for a couple reasons - to avoid these feelings and so they have a nice keepsake!
  21. I have been thinking about this too and there was a thread going a few months ago too! It bothered me then and we had planned to have our MC announce we'd like the be the first to post pictures but over time I've become less worried by it. I think just knowing it will probably happen anyways :/ but voicing it / word of mouth is your best bet. Even add it to your welcome letter or what not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I don't think you need to box it. I don't know anyone else who has but not sure!? I just plan to have mine cleaned and store it in the garment bag. Would be curious to hear the justification as to why boxing is better!! I'm a bit shocked at that price but then again not overly! Maybe call around? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Not sure if they have stores anywhere else. I wore a BM dress from their store in Cross Iron but it's since closed. The one in Sunridge has been there eons! It's on the Target end of the mall on the upper level. I think David's are nicer material but everyone has their own styles and opinions, you know? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I may look into this waist cincher. Although it's my back that's the problem if it comes up enough it should still work -- where did you get it? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
