I am actually glad I started my crafts long long ago! Tonight I was setting things up to take photos and realized some things did not go together (guestbook table in particular), so now I am scrabbling to get new items to match the themes, etc. I am fairly close to being done though. A few more crafty things, but then just to wash all the clothes and start packing. Also scrambling to figure out my daughter's hair. I let someone else cut it and it was a mistake. Way to short I mean it looks fine, but I feel I have this heightened since of awareness of what everyone should look like hahahah!

I put this on our website - some are geared for our resort and reviews I had read on trip advisor (marble slippery, etc.) Resort 'Good to Knows' We have compiled a list of 'good to know' information regarding our research of this resort, as well as trips we have taken in our past. 1. If available, bring water shoes. Some points of entry into the ocean can be rocky due to broken coral. 2. Snorkelling equipment is available on site, but if you have your own you should bring it. We hear the snorkelling there is fantastic. 3. Men need to have long pants for the A'la Carte restaurants. A casual pair of shoes would be helpful, as well as an extra 'golf' shirt that wouldn't be classified as a t-shirt. 4. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! The sun can be relentless. 5. If you are able to bring more than one bathing suit I highly recommend it. With the humidity your swim suit will most likely not dry over night. 6. Women should consider a swim-suit cover-up. Makes it easy to leave the beach and have lunch, etc. Usually they won't let you into the buffets in just a swim suit. 7. Flip flops are perfect, but if you plan to do some walking you should bring some casual shoes/walking shoes. Also some A'la Cartes would expect women to have 'fancier' flip flops for dinners. 8. Tipping isn't mandatory, but we tip some while on vacation. Have USD or Mexican Pesos on hand. Nothing over the top! 9. BUBBA's!! (can't believe I left this until #9) The weather is hot, the drinks are flowing, and their cups just aren't big enough! They have no problems filling any sort of insulated beverage mug, which keeps your drink cold and cuts down on trips to the bar! 10. This can be considered a large resort, so be prepared to walk some. 11. You aren't advised to drink the water in Mexico. They provide bottled water for drinking and for brushing your teeth! Most ice cubes and machines on site use filtered water for us, but to be safe I tend to travel with pepto, immodium, and possibly an rx from the doctor. 12. Lots of marble at this resort that can be slippery when wet. Also keep an eye on the integrity of the balconies before you lean on them! I also made sure on our pre travel brochure to speak about passports, ID's, travel documents, using the in-room safe, etc. Sunglasses, hats, etc. (I also told them to bring these to the wedding as they can't get back to their room easily as we are in a secluded area) I also mentioned numerous times to bring enough sunscreen, aloe, shampoo, etc. as it's pricey on the resort. Also to bring stuff in case you get an upset stomach/diarrhea, etc. LOL!!!!

Destination Weddings Perceived As Selfish?
calgarybride2015 replied to hp520's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Personally for me, I wish I was invited to destination weddings. I LOVE to travel and having an excuse to do so would be perfect. So with that said I would never ever be annoyed by an invite to a DW. Even if I couldn't attend I would just politely decline. You are not selfish for doing what YOU want to do on YOUR wedding!!! Yes you will hear comments from some people, you will get some pretty lame excuses, and for some reason there is always drama (in some form) that surrounds weddings, but try not to let that get you down. Remind yourself that you and your fiance want this and just be prepared that some people who you really want there, won't be able to go. My fiance's dad made comments that could be perceived as him saying we are selfish. But in the end we stuck to our guns and they are coming to the wedding. We also had some people who just couldn't say 'no' and move on. They had to make so much drama out of it. I don't know if that is because of something going on inside them or not but after all that it was refreshing to just get a basic no lol. Also just be prepared for a lot of other drama. Seems most people on this board get their share in one way or another. Do what you want to do and just remember that people can say no if they can't go, don't want to spend the money, etc. Don't feel guilty (though hard) because they are adults and can do as they see fit. Try not to be upset when you get the no's, but it's par for the course. Deal with it as it comes. We also said no gifts as we were just happy people were coming. We are also trying to do a few extras to show them we care they are there. @@rachelia160 - some people are that rude. Most of us on here have some sort of story to share. It's funny the sides people show with weddings, funerals, childbirth, etc. I had a friend say no verbally so I didn't send her an invite and now she won't even talk to me!! yikes. I also had people tell us that $1500 PP all inclusive (airfair, hotel for 7 nights, transports, etc.) was way to expensive for Mexico and they have been there more than enough to now this. She went on and on for months, until we cut the ties. I really could go on and on! -
Anyone Elses Ahr 3-6 Months After The Fact?
calgarybride2015 replied to Mrsktobe's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
I think 5 months is fine. Most people I know who have had one did them later on so it was in the summer time. I wouldn't think twice about it, but that is me I agree re dresses and speeches and tables. But I don't see an AHR as a second wedding more as a party for those who couldn't come. Kind of like a 'yay we are married' party. Wedding dress is for the wedding but again my opinion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Excited but annoyed. Communication was supposed to be faster once we get our personal WC and it's worse over a week to respond. Not sure what to do??? I heard a rumor I got a new one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Not Doing Oot Bags?
calgarybride2015 replied to Kayla88's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I never would have thought bubba's could break. Eek now I'm worried for my tumblers. I'm not bubble wrapping each individually as no room but I've used a lot of bubble wrap and cardboard in the suitcase. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
@@Surfingsara Thanks You can do it, but with all on your plate you will just be super busy. At first I thought I was diving in too fast, but now that I am less than a month out I am super glad I did. I am just tying up lose ends and finishing up some crafts. I spent soooo much time on this board and on the internet in general. I am sure it killed my fiance and he felt neglected hahaha but our wedding wouldn't be what it is without all the extra planning and such. I am glad I am over that - as my gym lacked,my healthy eating lacked, extra time with kids/fiance, housework and such - so it's nice I am getting back to more of a happy medium. I have been taking more time to focus on the house and such! None the less as you move along you will make decisions you stick with, you will change your mind a lot, but in the end things just come together as I am learning!!! You will find tonnes of ideas on here and you will have to scour the web for the best deals, etc. but you will get there. You just have to start and keep moving If you have any questions let me know!!! Will post another update soon!

I've always been of the thought that you only invite people who you want to be there. If you really only want those co-workers at your AHR, then maybe you could do another invite for that? If you send them a STD for your DW you have to prepare yourself that possibly some of them will go. Is this what you want? We had people RSVP yes, that in a million years we never would have thought would come -- then had others we thought would be 100% say no. I know a lot of people who have a tight number for their wedding do an A and B list, most people wouldn't even know they were on the B list unless they converse with people on the A list. I don't think you need to invite the whole office, unless you want the whole office there. Weddings are for celebrating with people who mean something to you, IMO. But again, if you think you would just prefer them at your AHR then I would do something specifically for that. Good luck

Not Doing Oot Bags?
calgarybride2015 replied to Kayla88's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Depending on the amount of guests you have, that may limit the size you can purchase if you plan to bring them all down to Mexico as a surprise. I have the 34oz one for myself personally and it's huge - if I had to bring 44 OMG they would need so many suitcases. I have a feeling she used the 20oz ones (they are the $6.99 ones on the Bubba website). I paid $16.99 for mine but didn't get it thru the Bubba website. http://www.shopbubba.com/shop-all/mugs/bubba-20-oz-mug-classic-pink/ If you sign up you can get a 15% off code too. -

I was considering this but I have also tipped a server in Cuba when he brought our first drink and we never saw him again :/ so that plan failed, so I have been hesitant to do it in Mexico for our WC. EDIT: but I personally feel if your bill has a gratuity on it (as a poster mentioned a few posts above) that should cover all your servers and bartenders and I wouldn't tip them again.

Oot Cups
calgarybride2015 replied to StaceyMarieHughes's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I have to check my tumbler bag as there is no way I can bring 46 on the plane!! I have heard of a few cracks but nothing major so crossing my fingers. I have them with cardboard around them and then bubble wrap in the gaps!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I bought these ones - http://www.amazon.com/Advantus-Proximity-Holders-Vertical-AVT75451/dp/B000J09IH2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419258717&sr=8-1&keywords=advantus+proximity+badge+holders+vertical+2-3+8+x+4-3+8+clear+50+per+pack+avt75451 I only wanted 50 loops and couldn't find a good deal online. I am Canadian though, so if you are in the USA you have more options. So I got the loops from Dollarama. They weren't overly expensive. Since my wedding isn't until January I won't know if people actually use them until then. I still loved the gesture though, it's cute. I had originally bought them to use at the reception but realized I wanted to do a bit more there, so to get them used up I sent them out first with a pre-travel mailer. The mailers were definitely a hit. Edit: I stuck with a generic picture (I used MEXICO) on the luggage tags in hopes people would use them. My common theme all along wasn't to use our names and wedding date on anything our guests would use (luggage tags, tumblers, etc.). I have no idea or not if people will use them regardless but felt it would help.

Oot Cups
calgarybride2015 replied to StaceyMarieHughes's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I think the tumblers or stadium style cups would be the only ones that stack. Have to have a wider opening. I am having my cups full of my OOT stuff so I did mine assembled minus the straw. I got 44 cups in my suitcase (28 inch). Regardless they take a lot Of space but stacked may take less. I was hoping people would use the cups again so excluded our names. I think either way is fantastic more personal Preference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
