  1. The hardest part is picking the resort. Once you get through that its really not so bad. Have you talked to a travel agent yet? They are very helpful.
  2. I've made the assumption that tropical view room equals first floor. Can anyone confirm or deny that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I would say you can likely find option that are affordable for your guests as long as you aren't set on a date during high seasons (ie march). how many guests are you thinking? most resorts charge additional costs for more than 20 or 25 guests that can add up quickly - you may want to consider your costs as well.
  4. Can any past brides comment on the cake? My future MIL is a cake designer. She is making cake toppers for us. When I showed her the pics of the cakes she had all kinds of questions. Seems like I've seen people say there is no need to get extra cake for extra guests. How big is the cake if you go with the 25? Does anyone have any pictures they could share? Thanks! 5. @@kylie537 We may meet in passing We are arriving on April 14 for our April 17 wedding. We have 2 teenage boys (his) so are hoping to do some fun activities with them before everyone arrives. We are sending them home with their aunt and uncle on Sunday and we are staying until Thursday on our own. We are doing our ceremony on the pergola (because i want to wear heels) then mix bar and bamboo room. We have 35 people confirmed. I originally thought we were going to have more which is why i went with the bamboo room, but now i'm reconsidering one of the other options. The poolside photos seemed nice and I like castaway as well.
  6. I'm getting married April 17, 2015. I am having an outside photographer come in. They were recommended to us as friends of family members. Their website is http://www.mandjphoto.com/. We are having them for the wedding and an underwater trash the dress session in a cenote. I'm super excited for the trash the dress session. I'm honestly not sure what to do with the included photographer now. I also chose the divine package. I was debating guitarist vs saxophonist. I feel like some mentioned the saxophone being good - or maybe it was violin? I know you can rent a projector - i saw it on the list, but not sure about castaway specifically. What date are you getting married and how many guests are you expecting?
  7. I just had a guest ask me if I think booking the preferred club is worth the added expense. Can anyone comment on this? We booked ocean front but not preferred, as I am hoping we get upgraded to preferred and not too worried about it if we don't.
  8. If you have less than 25 guests I think you should be able to find a resort package that is reasonable inexpensive and meets your needs. It's the extra charges when you go over 25 guests that start adding up! Good luck! You have a head start having already found this site - you will learn so much! Also - as the previous post mentioned - picking the resort is the hardest part! congrats and best of luck in your planning!
  9. so i just learned that to extend the reception for an extra hour (from 3 hours to 4 hours) you have to pay $15 per person plus tax and service. Yikes! We are planning for ceremony at 5, cocktail hour at 6 and reception from 7-10pm. I was thinking of extending to 11pm, because 10pm just seems too early, but I'm not so sure if the extra hour is worth the extra cost. What have other done or are planning?
  10. Is the rental of a dance floor required in the bamboo room? I assumed that was only needed if the reception was on the beach?
  11. ok - so if you are posting from the resort i presume the Wi-Fi is reasonable? Do you have to pay extra? I was just curious about how communication would be down there because we are all used to texting each other so much about where to meet and what to do and may not want to since it's international. Any feedback or experience you could share (when you get back of course!) would be much appreciated
  12. @@leggi, the trash the dress thing was new to me too, but it seemed like such a unique experience to add since we were getting married in mexico. anyways - not trying to convince you to do it, but just wanted to let you know that from what I've read it really doesn't trash the dress. Alot of people say it actually cleans it because it gets dirty from walking around and dancing during the reception. they say if you hang it to dry afterwards and then get it professional cleaned the dress is fine. my mom was initially freaked out i was going to do it, but when she read that she was more ok with it.
  13. We are using M&J Photography. My fiances' aunt knows them and recommended them. When I first looked at their prices I thought they were really high, but after shopping around it turns out they are pretty reasonable. http://www.mandjphoto.com/ Tracy
  14. My friend is getting her husband a Yeti cooler. I thought it was a pretty cool idea. Definitely different than the watch or cuff links, but great For something a little different for an outdoorsy guy
  15. I feel your pain! I stressed for weeks over picking a resort! The nice thing is once you do it - it's done and you can start focusing on other things. I liked Azul Fives, but ended up deciding against it mainly because the way the resort is laid out you don't really see the beach. The resort looks awesome, with the lazy river and everything, but for this trip I wanted to be able to look at the ocean from my room. I ended up picking NOW Jade and am happy with my choice - my wedding isn't until April 17, 2015, so I can't say anything about the wedding, but after all the stressing I'm glad I finally picked and I haven't had doubts yet. We were also looking at Azul Sensatori, and I have heard the Karisma properties are great, but in the end the price was important to us, so we went with NOW Jade. Good luck with your decision making process!!
  16. I was just doing a little research on insurance. I called both Wedsafe and Travelers and neither offer liability coverage for weddings outside the US. Has anyone found one that does? Also - my TA offered travel insurance - cancel for any reason. If i go the wedding insurance wouldn't that cover the same thing the travel insurance is covering? why get both? Many thanks!
  17. Has anyone encountered the issue of a family of 4 with two teenagers traveling to the wedding? My cousin and her family want to attend and they have 2 daughters age 13 and 16. Since the daughters are over 12 they count as adults and the resort has a maximum 3 adults to a room policy. what to do? They are thinking about having one of their daughters be listed as staying with grandma and grandpa, but at the end of day can they all 4 stay in the room together? does anyone actually pay attention once you get there? It really seems like there should be a separate category for teens.
  18. I would love to check out this spreadsheet. My wedding isn't until April 2015, but i'm already stressing about the extra costs of the guests over 25! would love to be able to analyze numbers now. my email is howard.tracyann@@gmail.com. Thanks!
  19. i am working on setting up a site on weddingwire, but i can't figure out how to enter the table with the rate information in their standard response boxes. anyone have luck with this? i started down the route of doing it in excel and then taking a picture to put on the site? seems annoying - and currently its not very pretty either
  20. Where are you flying from? And how many people do you really want at the wedding? I went to a friends wedding in Hawaii and it was beautiful!!! We stayed for a week. I would love to get married there, but we live in Texas and most of my family is on the east coast - the amount of time it takes to fly to Hawaii was just too much for me to pick it for the wedding. I want as many of our family to be there as can. We chose Playa del carmen because it's doable for a long weekend trip. Just a thought to consider in your decision making. Good luck! And congrats!
  21. I'm April 17, 2015. Anyone else at that time? I've gotta get on the ball with getting our website up and save the dates out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. @@MayFlowers2014 I'm so sorry to hear of your issues and disappoint both for you and for me since I just booked for 2015 and now jade. I'm just curious, did you do a room block for your guests through a TA? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. We just confirmed our date! April 17, 2015 at NOW Jade. I'm so excited to have the decision made. I really hope this was the hard part b/c it was stressful! Now to sign a contract for room block, get a website up and send out Save the Dates!
