  1. I like when people display old wedding photos of lost loved ones, like by the guest book or something. That way you can remember them by seeing them during one of their happiest moments.
  2. Im not superstitious but I like traditions. So i will do something old, new, borrowed and blue. I wanted him to see me before the ceremony (mostly so we have more time for pictures) but he really didn't like this idea at all. We are still deciding on if we will stay in the same room the night before the wedding. I think it will depend if the hotel will give us an extra room for free or not. They said its based on availability so we will see. I could go either way on this. Are you guy staying in the same room the night before? We will also be legally married when we go to Mexico so i guess this is all really irrelevant for me anyways lol But what can I say I like traditions, just not the legal headaches that come with a mexico wedding.
  3. We are doing a courthouse wedding here in the states and a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. My parents do not like the idea at all but my FI and i like it this way a whole lot better for many reasons including: We wont have to do the blood test in mexico I really want my God father to be the one who speaks at our wedding and if we do it leaglly in mexico this couldn't happen. Mexico weddings require them to be in spanish by a judge so we would have to have a translator for our vows- really didn't like this idea. You don't have to arrive multiple days ahead of time for legality reasons No additional fees- close to $1,000 once we added them up. plus you don't have to travel with more important documents. birth certificates/ divorce papers ect. And since we are having the courthouse wedding in 2014 we can save an extra year on taxes and not have to wait till 2015 for our mexico wedding date. Which helps us out with the wedding price/ rehearsal dinner Some people are pretty vocal about not approving of this way but we don't care. The ceremony in mexico is going to be the wedding for us. He won't wear his ring until mexico, i won't be called his 'wife', the Mexico date will be the day we celebrate our anniversary, and we are saying our own vows in Mexico to make it even more meaningful. I really don't see why anyone would want do it legally in Mexico. It just seems like a big headache just so people can say yes i saw them sign the piece of paper.
  4. So this may be totally dumb but.... what exactly does OOT stand for? I know what they are but drawing a blank with what it actually stands for.
  5. I would do it at a traditional wedding but i figure most people at a destination wedding will be in flats to begin with.
  6. I cant see them yet but I will come back to check them out one i have enough post. Thanks for sharing!
  7. We didn't do any. But I think they are a good idea if it is going to be the same photographer as the wedding, so that you can see how they work with you before the bid day. But since we are using a photographer in cancun we thought it was pointless to pay for another one here in the states for the STDs. We just had one of our parents take some photos of us for the save the dates and called it good for the engagement photos.
  8. I love the matching robes idea. I bought my sisters and her bridesmaids some victoria secret robes for her wedding while they had their semi annual sale. They turned out to be around $15 a piece. I'm still deciding on if i'm doing them for mine though since i think the hotel already has robes. I'm starting to lean toward matching beach cover ups for the rehearsal/ day before the wedding. And probably buying them matching necklaces for the wedding. For the guys we are doing meat branders for the grill, with their schools logo as the brander and we will have our wedding date/ location on the handle. We will also probably get their sandals for the ceremony
  9. The only disposable camera i would by is an underwater one. With everyone having cellphones with cameras disposable ones seem pricy and dont forget about the cost to develop them.
  10. Thanks for sharing! They are cute just make sure you pay attention to the size. What are you putting in your bags?
  11. i started looking at hotels/destinations on bookit.com to get a general idea of prices for guest and then looked more into my top hotels through forums on here and contacting the wedding coordinators at the hotel for the wedding prices. One thing that was important for us was to make sure it was easy for our guest to travel to so we picked a place not far from the airport.
  12. We went with Cancun cause flights seemed to be cheaper and it looked like there were more options for us.
  13. i found that Riviera Maya/ cancun was the easiest and most cost effective for our guest so we went with that.
  14. Looks like our weddings will be similar. We are doing ours at Now Sapphire April 18 2015. With at least 35 guest but most likely around 50 with 75ish max. Budget is a big stress for me right now but it is way cheeper than having it in the states. So i just have to remind my self that. And every time i start thinking of cutting the guest list we keep on saying its not worth it. I'm waiting on the wedding quote from the hotel now and as soon as i get that i will feel a lot better!
  15. I would defiantly say something to them. As long as you say it nicely i don't see how they can get mad.
