How Much Is The Trip Costing Your Guests
BusyBee280 replied to kcole123's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
The majority of our guests will be staying from 3-4 nights in Mexico- Some are taking it as a vacation, so most people are staying longer than we would advise financially. For single occupancy, the price for the trip is around 1200-1300 For two people its closer to 2800 It's a lot of money no matter where you go I think -
Remembering Lost Love Ones
BusyBee280 replied to Mzlisa27's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I'm still in the process of debating what to do for a close friend of ours we lost a few months ago- I'm interested to see what people say about this one... -
The night before.....???
BusyBee280 replied to selassie11's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I talked with my FI about this one, and he said not sleeping together the night before is balongna- I wouldn't mind going about it either way, but I think were going to end up staying in the same room. The resort does offer one free room for a member of the wedding the night before though--- -
What are you walking down the Aisle to?
BusyBee280 replied to reevesbride's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
nothing/silence-- music to my ears I like the idea of the chorus of thugz mansion- the beginning is a little rough- but if you were to start from the middle (around 2:30min) I think it might mesh well me and my girlfriend- bonnie & clyde 2Pac-Listen To Your Heart (ft. Notorious B.I.G., Roxette & EminUnfortunately tupac wasn't known to be a very romantic person-- jagged edge- lets get married Nas- Getting Married, Cherry Wine- Nas has a few other songs that may fit well... The roots- you got me Jeezy- I do Any of these I'd highly reccomend getting a sensored copy of the song lol -
Were thinking of having ours a few months after the wedding in Mexico- We want to ensure that we can afford everything, and that the wedding video has gotten back to us, and that we have time to edit the other video (were going to be video taping some of our trip to show everyone!)

I purchased two dresses, one for the ceremony and one for the reception. The reception dress set me back around 40 dollars (not bad at all) It's much easier to move around in. When I tried walking around in my ceremony dress I felt that it restricted my movement alot-

TRUE!! I think a DW is a lot less stressful than planning one at home though. Haveing the coordinator to take care of the little details helps, and we have the excuse of only inviting direct family/ people that we see every day to avoid "uncle frank" getting his feelings hurt. We just started planning an at home reception/cocktail party, so hopefully there will be no drama from that lol

The Hardest Part Of A Destination Wedding
BusyBee280 replied to SamanthaC's topic in Just venting or funnies
We certainly can't afford to just pay for everyone- we just offered them deals like taking care of the flight in exchage for labor for wedding stuff. The friend that is having the most trouble now will be taking care of setuping up the AHR, and video taping our trip to Mexico to show at the AHR. Most of our guests have the reservations taken care of (parents and such) but we have 2 friends we knew before chosing a DW would have troubles coming up with so much money. Win some, lose some I guess -
The Complaints!

I think that is probably true- It sucks to hear that you are being selfish when you are simply trying to plan something fun for everyone though! My FI says "yeah yea, you can complain about it when we get to Mexico" -
I have very thin, fine hair also- My ceremony will be at 5:00pm in the middle of November, so I'm not expecting the humidity to be as much of a problem as the wind!! Unfortunately I have such a small frame - so you know those little fluffy dogs? picture one soaked- thats what I look like with my hair pulled up! lol

At Home Reception (AHR) Do's and Don'ts
BusyBee280 replied to Brenners's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
I love this idea!! I just worry that serving drinks may end up costing more than serving dinner. The majority of our families do not drink very much, but we do have a few members who like to guzzle down boose, so we worry about the cost of having liquor. What is a "tooneys"? -
My mother encouraged me to check out wedding dresses on e-bay, and that they sometimes have overflow dresses from shops, and sometimes some good used ones. I found this dress- the seller "fashion20121122" I ordered the dress around 85 dollars, and spent around 15 for shipping and handeling!! I private messaged her to ensure she got my size, she replied with "ohh! we will custom make to ensure it fits, please send your measurments to me and I will make fitted for you. We spent the night taking my measurments, and doing a little reading to make sure we didn't go wrong anywhere. When I got the dress- It was perfect, a silky inner layer with an outskirt of lace. I ordered a lace up to make sure that if I lose or gain weight, it wouldn't effect my ability to fit in it. The ribbon was not sewed to the dress (thank God, it didn't match ANYTHING)

Colour Scheme & Palette
BusyBee280 replied to MrsRoy's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
This is what we have so far- We are doing a blue and white theme, and there will be mostly white lilys for the centerpieces, and MOH Boquet I'm still debating rather I want to add these or not- we got our guests "rainshakers" from a local art shop, and they sortof match, so maybe they would look nice together? -

We are looking more into hosting a nice dinner/party here for our friends that cant afford to go, or don't like the idea. Were thinking of making a video during our stay to watch at the party when we return. So when someone complains about it- say hey we will be doing a nice dinner and watching a video of the trip, and our wedding video, so its not like you will miss everything. Its going to cost us even more than we wanted to spend, but we thought it would be nice for people who REALLY can't make it due to work/money related issues, and it's an nice thing to offer people who complain about it all the time! This is what got us to do a destination wedding to begin with!! lol his entire family always goes on vacation this time of year, and my family needs it! any good friends is pretty much an added bonus. Still trying to think of a good "AHR idea though. -
I ended up packaging mine the same way it was sent to me- It only takes up half of one of the bags I will be bringing on the plane with me. As far as a bigger dress goes- I think a garmet bag would be counted as one of your carry ons. I know that on most airplanes, you are allowed one carry on, and one personal item (purse, laptop bag etc.) I think if you were to link them and carry them together, they probably wouldn't count it as two (atleast I dont think- I could be wrong..) I would call someone from the airline, and ask your coordinator about it to be sure. (I would cry if anything ended up getting checked on my trip) Perhaps you could bring a very large purse? (I'm planning on doing this too) If you look at some purses, they are big enough to qualify as luggage! (opinion)I have a large pink purse that I'll be bringing on with me (first almost all of my cloths) and a carry on black bag with my wedding stuff in it. Hope this helps-

We are fortunate to have each of you in our lives, and feel honored that you have traveled great distance to be with us. We hope you have a wonderful stay at Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun, and look forward to spending the next few days in paradise with you! With love and appreciation Amanda & Jason Its on a card the same size as our invitations were printed on (trying to recycle, not spend more!!! lol) I added an itenerary that is attached to it, I'm not sure if I want to add anything else or not though. Still working on them-
