  1. @@Sara1603 Thanks for the information! How exciting! when is your wedding? Which set up did you decided on? We have the location tentatively booked for the Riviera Gazebo as we are curious to see what new options may exist with the new Platinum Yucatan All Suites Resort. (their new hotel) Have you seen any Ocean Gazebo pictures? I know the Sunset Gazebo is right by the chillout area and the Riviera Gazebo is in the middle of the platinum beach area but I don't know anything about the Ocean Gazebo. Do you?
  2. Hi @@nikkicraig10 I just booked my wedding at GSP for June 2015 and I was reading this thread and found it helpful. I was wondering if you could clarify something for me as we have not received the 2015 pricing yet. You mentioned it was an extra $750 for the Ocean front ceremony - is that the Riviera Gazebo or is that like a special beach set up. please let me know. I have fallen in love with the Riviera Gazebo set up but unsure of the prices. thank you in advance!
  3. @@abeals11388 Thanks for the info! I noticed your wedding location was in Cabo. I think the beach reception in Riu Palace Mexico, (playa del Carmen) is different. We spoke with the WC and unfortunately they said there was nothing they could do about it being so public. oh well!
  4. @jsparrow10 Thanks for the information. that's so smart that you did you a site visit. I think that we have ruled out the Riu Palace Mexico. I saw pictures of real weddings and I noticed that the beach wedding set up has a white fence that looks a little awkward in pictures. Also, the beach set up is not up close to the water so you actually have people in beach beds facing your wedding ceremony and just watching and showing up in pictures. The search continues...
  5. @@julieapril2014 Thanks for sharing your wedding experience. I'm seriously considering GSP and was wondering if you found there were any mosquitos for the wedding beach party? We've been there twice before and there lots of mosquitos by the restaurant Las Olas with the fondue. Just wondering what your experience was. Thanks so much
  6. Hi @@dockgirl Not sure if anyone ever responded to your question. There is a bar at the chillout section right beside the Sunset that I wonder if you guests can use to meet up. I think all platinum guests have access to them. Also there is the concierge area right before entering the chillout area that has a bar and guests can have a seat and enjoy the A.C. I visited twice last year and found these spots really nice as they have nice washrooms as well. Cheers.
  7. Hi ladies! So excited for this forum. I was initially considering the Riu Palace Mexico for my destination wedding next June 2015 however I saw pictures of a wedding on the beach with people literally just watching right behind. We asked for private options and never heard back from the hotel. So we have ruled them out. In 2013 we travelled twice to the Riviera Maya Gran Yucatan platinum side and loved it sooo much! I'm reading this thread and thinking about considering it for the wedding. My only reservations are these: 1. The beach isn't as nice as other venues we thought about like the Riu has turquoise waters this one is ok. 2. When we were at the Princess in june 2013 the mosquitos were insane...if we go with the beach wedding reception I'm worried we will all be eaten alive. Does anyone know if it was ok with mosquitos for the beach receptions? Looking forward to hearing back from anyone who has had a wedding experience here!
  8. New to this site - love it! Are there any past or present 'riu Palace Mexico' brides? Seriously considering this location and wondering what kind of experience anyone has had at any stage of their planning or wedding. Thanks! xoxo.V
