  1. I love this idea. So helpful and useful. thank you for sharing.
  2. I thought this thread would me decide but instead I'm seeing all these other options that I could also consider. So much pressure to pick the perfect song. We are getting married at the mayan Riviera so maybe something in Spanish would be nice too. ahh.
  3. I have been MOH before and I had the same flowers as the rest of the girls. For my wedding, I will have a mega bouquet and the BMs will have a slightly smaller bouquet which will double as centre pieces later on in the night for the reception.
  4. Ouuu this has been so helpful! thanks for the info @@Chrysta I'm going to check them out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_tRldnagks I just saw their youtube video. Their work looks so awesome!
  5. awww I haven't seen some of these in a while!
  6. Wow this is amazing!!!! I feel like I need to really get focused
  7. @@barbiebec Hey! That's so exciting! Your wedding is fast approaching! yay I am going to be doing 10 days. I wanted to arrive before our guests and just chill for a bit, catch up on a tan and actually enjoy my time with FI. I suspect we are going to be so busy that week and it will be nice to have a few days completely on our own. We will also do our own honeymoon later on.
  8. What about talking to the wedding coordinator at Mayan palace? Be upfront and tell them that you were going to be brining x amount of people, great business for them but you need them to work with you on some things. Tell them that you don't have a problem walking away from, you deposit and hopefully they try to work with you. I have been to this hotel- it's gorgeous.
  9. Sending lots of warm thoughts to you ladies! I'll keep an eye out for Spanish new updates and touch back if I hear anything. There's prob more news available in Spanish right now Xoxo
  10. So awesome ! Can't wait to be able to see the pics. My FI works in printing so maybe he can do Sometnjnf similar
  11. A checklist would be so smart to have! It feels like my mind is always full and remembering things at the most inconvenient time when I can't really write it down. I have a destination wedding planner that has checklists for different categories of planning.
  12. Ya, I can't really envision it right now. but I think I will add this to the questions I have. It's a long list. lol
  13. It's hard to say for sure without a picture, but stacking bracelets is totally in right now and I could see how the pearls and the silver would look great together. I would say to make sure you tie in silver and pearl with your earrings.
  14. I'm happy that I found this discussion topic. Sorry everyone who have had losses. My mother passed away 10 years ago today and I always knew that wedding planning would remind me of her absence and it definitely has. I have been somewhat at peace with her passing the past couple of years. I mean I will always miss her, but it seems like this year I am grieving her in a different way because now I am experiencing her absence during a time that is supposed to be so exciting (and it is) but typically shared with your mom and close friends. I am dreading dress shopping. I have not gone yet and I feel like I will probably break down. Part of me feels like I should just get it over with and try not think about it. I have made 3 appointments so at least I am work through that part. I do like the empty chair idea. Sending hugs to everyone.
  15. I have thought about this and initially I didn't think this would be something I would be to concerned about but recently we received a really nice flute set that says Mr. and Mrs which I think would be so nice in the photos and also a really nice cake cutter set. I think that it would be a nice touch to have them there that day especially for our close friends to see that we are using them on that special day.
  16. I'm going to skip this tradition. Our whole reception/party is 4 hours so this is one of those things that I don't think is that important for me. I'd rather have some extra dancing instead.
  17. you can probably have your wedding be as economical or elaborate as you want it to be. I am getting married at the Grand Sunset Princess and the symbolic wedding is free if at least 10 platinum rooms are booked. We can have a semi private reception at one of the restaurants which is included I believe. So far no extra costs. We are going to have our reception private which means we will paying $100/pp It all depends on what you want to do and how budget friendly you want to keep it. Most hotels offer different price points for different levels of options. Your first thing should probably be to decide what time of year you want to go to see whether it's an expensive time of year and also which hotel. Good luck- this a great forum at any level of destination wedding planning.
  18. http://thebridesproject.com/about-us/ For any Toronto brides - there is boutique called The Brides' Project. All funds from sales go towards cancer related charities. Some of the dress are donated from stores and others from Brides. It's a great way to support a good cause and find that special dress at a reduced price.
  19. We are probably not going to do engagement pictures either. I think they are great when you are going to use the same photographer for your wedding but it's not possible for us. It saves us a little bit on the budget and I don't feel photo ready yet either. haha
  20. This is amazing! I can't wait to get started on all these details. I think it's so nice to be able to leave these welcome notes for your guests.
  21. @@dockgirl thanks! I will definitely join the FB group. It's so helpful just to have all these additional resources of information. Our wedding date is June 20, 2015. We are super excited.
  22. I believe that the $1800 for the dance floor is optional. I've read that a lot of brides that chose not to do the floor have had fun beach dance parties on the sand and that fine too. I probably won't go with the dancefloor option as I find it very expensive. We are thinking of doing the reception at the chillout but I don't know if the chillout has it's own dance floor or if they move the dance party to the beach area after.
