  1. If you still have the votive candles and led candles I'd be interested! I'm in the GTA area so I could totally pick and avoid shipping!
  2. I love your dress! It fits you like a glove and really suits you! Great choice
  3. This sounds like the perfect start to a ceremony or end. I love it. I"m going to discuss this with the FI. I wonder how much extra this would cost to do at the resort.
  4. I love the thank you cards. I love that you included a group picture with the card. Such a great idea. Bora Bora sounds like heaven. Whatever you decide will be amazing.
  5. Great question! I'm excited to learn more about this too! congrats on your upcoming wedding! 2 weeks wow!
  6. The DRESS!!!!!!!!! To be honest, the whole dress shopping experience process was a little difficult/sad for me. My mother had passed away a few years ago and while I have grieved and gone through the healing process, I knew I would always be very sad about her absence if I ever were to get married. I was never the kind of girl that thought about getting married, or envisioned what kind of dress I would wear so it was overwhelming to start looking. I got engaged on Valentine's Day 2014 and I didn't start looking for dresses until September. My wedding is June 20th, and I suppose I'm cutting it close. I was told that in order to guarantee the arrival of my current #1 pick dress by April, I'd have to order this Monday. So Monday it is! Thankfully I have amazing friends, my sister and Mother-in-law who have been extremely supportive and have come with me to my appointments. It certainly helped not to feel as sad that my mom isn't here for this epic occasion. One of the dress fittings I attended was just myself and my sister, and we walked in, saw a dress, I tried it on, and there were tears....!! I was soooo in love with it and so sure it was the one. I decided to think on it...I think it's the one. For some reason I feel like I could find something better. I don't know if that's just normal and part of the process. I will post a picture of #1 choice and some of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th choices. Any feedback would be welcomed. Is it normal to feel like this unsure? It's crazy. lol I do love my #1 but I still keep thinking about what else could be out there. Here they are! #1 fit and flare (david's bridal) #2 Ballroom gown (kleinfeld's) #3 A-line flar (DB) #4 Fit and flare - cream (DB)
  7. Love them!!!! where did you get them?? How much were they?? So tropical and pretty!
  8. @TinkerSofi Awww thanks! You are so sweet. Coral and gold are totally on trend right now...I swear I had no idea when I chose them. lol I was going to go the Tiffany blue route and silver but this really just felt more like the mood that I wanted. @calgarybride2015 YES! That's too bad that you weren't able to find a statement necklace. I'm totally planning on doing what you suggested. I was thinking of a small necklace for the ceremony or no necklace and then statement necklace for the reception. I just have to get my dress first....eek. @kcole123 I'm so glad it's helpful to you! Stay tuned my dress is next ! xoxo THE DRESS!!! To be honest, the whole dress shopping process was a little difficult/sad for me. 9. Hi Tan38! Here's another vendor that is available in the GTA area called Henkaa. I have chosen the Henkaa dress for my BMs in a light peach/coral. They do have ivory and white as well. I love these dresses because they are convertible so they can be worn in like 100 different ways (literally) and you can wear it the best way that it suits you...you can even add accessories to it or add a skirt over it to give it more volume. They carry these dresses at Kleinfeld's (Eaton Centre The Bay 7th floor) and they also have a Henkaa show room but only by appointment somewhere in Mississauga. They are $169.99 for the ankle length dress. I wore a convertible dress for my engagement party and loved it!! It was a shorter version, more cocktail party but I have seen the floor length one and it is so pretty. Here is their website: www.henkaa.com
  10. Wedding Colours!! I was so torn about deciding what our wedding colours would be! I'm a jewellery designer so I love combining colours and felt extra pressure to pick the best combo. I wanted to pick a colour that would be very classy and yet reflect the chill atmosphere we are trying to create. Soo... I picked coral & gold With sub colours like cream and a navy blue (groomsmen) The BM dresses are Henka dresses that I was able to find at Kleinfeld's. They will do the alterations on site for $20. The Henka dresses are convertible dresses and can be worn in so many different ways which means that everyone can wear the same dress and but wear it differently to suit their shape and preference. The dresses are very light so I am told and they are ankle length so they can literally wear flipflops if they want. I am designing their jewellery but I haven't quite yet but I will post pictures once I decide on the design. I am inspired by some of previous designs. (See pics) My bouquet will have soft creams, whites and coral flowers, bridesmaids will have cream flowers mixed with greens to give it that wild effect. Centrepieces: I have been experimenting at home making some of my own centrepieces. Haven't decided yet but thought I would share my simple and inexpensive DIY centrepiece pics. I turned a big shell into flower holder and inserted some flowers to give it that nice tropical look. Hoping to work some more on my todo lists this weekend! xoxo
  11. @@calgarybride2015 probably a very dumb question but why does one need to keep receipts of items purchased in Canada to cross into mexico?
  12. https://realtimeboard.com/ @TinkerSofi The material we used is called permanent vinyl stick. My FI works in the print industry and we were able to recover some scraps! So it worked out nicely I just found this really cool online stormboard link: https://realtimeboard.com/ It might solve the distance issue and it is free!
  13. @@AyeWatSoon So happy to hear that the board is helping you out! For me it was a reality check that a lot of things needed to be dealt with but in about a week or so we were able to really work through our list so it does feel great to see some of the stickies come off. It also means that both myself and my fiancé are equally involved and active at working through these tasks. I love it. @TinkerSofi We have tested them out and they are definitely waterproof. We love that they are invisible. I'm envisioning some yummy strawberry daqueries filling up the cups to add some colour! @Calgarybride2015 as always, so helpful. Thank you for the packing tips. I hadn't thought that far ahead yet. How many did you take with you? Did they take up an entire luggage? Yes - it was definitely a Begonia colour swatch from David's bridal. We went a whole other route with our wedding colours! Wedding colours - up next !
  14. @@tygrrlily Thanks! We loved the arrows so much and we thought it was so appropriate as we got engaged on Valentine's day!
  15. Tumblers!! So we went back and forth with this idea. We searched and searched different websites and it started adding up really quickly with the customized printing. (We're canadian) The dollar went up and suddenly it was starting to look like the tumblers could cost us anywhere from $300-$500 for 60 tumblers. We were starting to think we were going to have to scrap the whole idea. I really wanted tumblers. I attended a DW in Jamaica a few years ago and the tumbler was a gift and we all totally used it. Avoided visiting the bar as often and it was so helpful to use at the beach and pool. We found a cool DIY way to have tumblers and all for $2 a piece. We compared tumblers from Dollar Tree ($1.25) and Dollarama ($2). The dollarama cups appeared to be better quality. They seemed thicker and the straws seemed like they would last at least the entire week! haha. Our logo was designed by KaspiParty from Etsy and we included our wedding hashtag (we finally decided on one and we love it!) The logo was printed on a clear permanent adhesive and through my fiance we were able to get that for free! yay! So in total the tumblers cost us $140 ($120 for the cups and $20 for the logo designs) We are so excited! We still haven't decided on whether we are doing totes yet. There seems to be a clear divide about whether guests actually use them etc etc. One more thing to cross off my list! yay! xoxo
  16. Such a fun idea! The invitation just sets the awesome mood for a great destination wedding!
  17. @Calgarybride2015 you totally inspired me to make this planning board! You are soooo organized and I was soo impressed with your planning thread. Can't wait to post more! Tumblers are up next! xoxo
  18. Well, I guess it is my turn to start my own planning thread! I had read so many helpful planning threads on this awesome forum and I thought I would do the same. I am 124 days away until my wedding (but who is counting) and I thought I would post my ideas to not only help others, but also as a way to keep me accountable to my planning. I have truly loved reading other bride's planning threads and will try to share as much as possible to help someone else in their early stages of planning. The benefits of the forum have been so great and I am so grateful for the generous brides that have been so busy planning their own fabulous weddings and still made it a priority to share for the rest of us. We are getting married June 20, 2015 at the Grand Sunset Princess. We have been to this resort twice and love, love, love, love it!! We are really looking forward to going back and just feeling absolutely confident in the service and quality of the hotel. So my head has been clouded with to-do lists and I had been really overwhelmed as soon as we transitioned from 2014 to 2015. I have a destination wedding planner but I found that it was easy to tuck it away and it is over 200 pages so it's easy to miss a section. We decided to experiment with a wall map. We put up some bristol board on a wall at home and my fiance and I started posting all the random things that we need to get done. All those little things like, "ask our flower girl" or "write vows" or "lose 60lbs" haha. After mapping out our to do list it really helped put everything into perspective. As we get things done, we remove the sticky, and as we think of more things to do, we slap them on. It has really helped out and I have a better sense of what still needs to get done! Yay planning! xo
  19. @LisaAnthonyPoppy Great advice. I was just asking that today on a different forum. My dad lives in Mexico so he's going to be driving down to the resort and we were thinking that the day before the wedding we would go to playa to pick up some flowers and put together the bouquets and boutonnieres. My only worry was that they wouldn't allow this. Should I ask my WC if they would allow it or just go for it?
  20. @Sara1603 - good question. Let us know what you find out. I just heard back from Guillermo and I thought I'd share the info. It's not related to what we were all talking about but it might be of interest to someone! lol We asked him how much the day passes would be for guests staying at a different hotel. He said $95usd per person. access granted from 9am to 2am. Full access to resort all inclusive perks except the a la carte restaurants.
  21. @@Jamaica2016 You are awesome!! Thanks for explaining!! ) I meant
  22. @@Jamaica2016 Great suggestions. I have looked through Etsy but it wouldn't hurt to have another look. What is a reverse image search on google?
  23. @ THANK YOU so much for sharing this information. This will be incredibly useful for me come next June. I love this forum and I'm so impressed at how brides return back to the forum and provide useful pointers. It's so appreciated and there's no way I would have found this info myself.
  24. @@barbiebec Hello!! Congrats! So happy to hear that all went well!! It sounds like your wedding was amazing! I have a few questions for you 1. Did you happen to visit the new hotel at all? We are getting married next year and our guests with kids are staying at the grand sunset and the non kids are staying at the adults only. 2. Which reception menu did you pick? 3. Do you have any pictures of how you decorated the Riviera gazebo? 4. did you have the cocktail drinks after the ceremony? 5. Did you use a resort photographer? We still haven't made any decisions about photos yet. So happy it went well!!
  25. Hello ladies, Help! One of my BMs was browsing on Instagram and she found these bags that are absolutely amazing and cute. Big credit to whoever designed them. I would love to do something similar for my guests but I'm not sure how to go about it. Does anyone have any tips? Would this be an iron on transfer? I'm just not sure how I'd get those amazing neon colours. Help. mUch appreciated!
