That's a great idea- pool day the day after the wedding. We have the same issue where people will be arriving on different days as well and some will be staying for different durations. We are putting together a week program and probably going to include some activities that people can do so that we all do hangout at least once outside of the wedding. Our wedding is on a Saturday and we were thinking of doing a Tulum day trip for those who are interested. We were also thinking of doing a pool day either the day before the wedding or day after. I think that we have to trust in our friends in and family that they will be understanding and that our bridal party will help with making everyone feel part of the group as well. We have already asked that our bridal party make small talk with our guests if they run into them and just check up on people if they happen to see them. It's the little things that make a group really gel! @@beckys98

More Mil Drama.. It Never Ends!
veryvalentine replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Just venting or funnies
Enjoy your time in Jamaica. I agree with the other ladies as well. Do not reward her behaviour. I think she will at first have a hard time adjusting since she's used to getting her way eventually. Hopefully after the AHR you won't have to deal with her much for a while. -
thank you @@snswedding2016 I love it too! It is so easy to make and so fun! I looked at so many different tutorials. I didn't use a glue gun. I just felt like it wouldn't hold up. I used a combination of different ways to wire the flowers but I found this one helped me out the most. Good luck with the project if you end up doing it. We should start a flower crown business when we are done with our weddings! lol @

Welcome to the forum!! How exciting. I am a budget savvy bride and I chose the Grand sunset princess hotel in the mayan Riviera. I loved the hotel, we have been there twice before. The prices for our guests were quite reasonable especially for the type of resort that is. It's so beautiful. We are happy with our wedding packages too.

Flower Crown This was such a fun DIY project. I've been meaning to have an excuse to make one and wear one for a while. I bought way too many supplies for this project. Initially I spent about $40 but I'm going to return about half of the flowers I bought so it probably cost me about $20 and I still have left over materials to use to make other crowns. I will probably make one for the flower girl and maybe the other bridesmaids. Not sure as they are a little time consuming. They would make for awesome pictures though. Just not sure if everyone would want to wear them.

@@calgarybride2015 I'm sure your guests were totally fine with it! I have been on the other side of a destination wedding where I was the guest. I didn't monopolize the bride's time as I knew she was super busy and had a lot of other people to visit with. The Bride and Groom made dinner reservations with different guests during the week. They tried to do group dinners with a few couples to visit with as many people as possible. I'm going to try to do that with our dinners. Breakfast and lunch are less predictable. We have room service so I may not bother to leave the room. lol We are also staying for 10 days so we will meet with our WC the few days that we arrive early and get all our errands done in those days so when people do arrive we will be more chilled out and prepared.

Flower Crown Supplies from Michael's using my 40% off coupon...a few times. he he I used 3 different stems of flowers. Medium sized flower filler, a larger statement flower with smaller filler I used garden wire from dollarama and 18 gage wire to wrap the flowers around the crown with some florist tape as well and ribbon to secure the back. I watched a lot of tutorial videos online as well. I sort of applied different methods into my own. I really like it! It's my first one, I may make some for my BMs, not sure yet. @ I finally made it!

@@snswedding2016 So cool! It's amazing how much you learn while planning a wedding. I had never heard about a sweetheart table until today. I hope that it doesn't make the bridal party feel less honoured. I have read mixed reviews about them online. I know that I ran an idea similar to this to one of my BMs and she was totally for the head table instead of just the FI and I. at the time I didn't know it was called a sweetheart table. How many guests do you have in attendance?

https://www.theknot.com/content/rules-for-sweetheart-tables @TinkerSofi @perianjay You ladies are seriously the best! I think I just found the article! So helpful. I found some cute inspiration pics for sweetheart tables. I would feel bad not having my MOH, my sister by my side, but this means she can sit with my dad and my cousins coming all the way from Spain ...so it won't make those not at the head table feel out of place. I have a few BMs that will have their partner with them and they don't really know anyone so this would probably be more comfortable. I think anyway...thank goodness for this forum.

I'm also curious about that! @perianjay I didn't want to order online and I didn't see anything like this at Costco. -

So sorry that you have had to experience this on your wedding day especially. I hope things go smoother with the AHR. The best is that you and your husband are on the same page. It speaks volumes about her that she is not able to maintain a lot of her relationships with other family members. -
Thank You @calgarybride2015 I found them on my lunch break! So helpful. $1.25 for 6. It worked out to be very economical too!

Ohhhh I love all these ideas! I love the idea of the mini beach balls and THE Newspaper idea!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! -
that was the frustrating thing for me that I felt like if I hadn't emailed her to say, hey there, can ship my dress? I feel like I'd still be waiting. @ but like you said, you are not in a hurry, but a lot of vendors on etsy, including myself, have very quick turnover times and that just wasn't cool.

@perianjay I just realized that you said she already marked it as shipped. That was fast for you. I think? You can actually track the parcel. There is a tracking number and you can track the progress with Canada Post once it's received in Canada.

Who Does Everyone Plan To Take Dress Shopping With Them?
veryvalentine replied to MJTK's topic in Newbies!!
My mom passed away years ago so I felt very self conscious not having her there...my friends were great and I must have gone dress shopping 9 times and I always had great friends with me and my future MIL who was so kind enough to buy me the dress. -
Hey @ I was able to look back on my Etsy history and I purchased the dress February 28 and I finally received shipping notice March 11 and it arrived March 27. It felt like a long process to me. I was not impressed that it took her that long to ship it. I'm in a hurry to get them because I wanted to check out the colour and I ordered colour swatches just in case I didn't like the coral. Thankfully I was able to order them together. @@TinkerSofi I just saw your post in another planning thread but I didn't want to take over someone else's thread so I thought we could chat about the seating arrangements here. I have 7 bridesmais & 4 groomsmen plus bride and groom that would potentially be at the headtable. that's 13 people and makes for a very long headtable. I was thinking of having the bridal party sit with their partners and since it will be an intimate wedding anyway, we can just have the bride and groom at the head table. That's the one idea I had. We have about 40-50 people attending so I thought it would look odd to have 13 people at a head table. What do you think?

I love this! It's so nice to hear the other side of the perspective. I think about what it would be like to have boys and I think I will totally be a crazy MIL lol ( I know, I know, I'm going to have to work on that). Anyway, so nice to read both sides. -

@@TinkerSofi Totally agree with you. I think we will go with the message in a bottle. The drinks seemed like soooo fun but they have to be done before hand and the people giving the drinks away are not going to know if someone grabbed the correct drink. I could see it being a bit of a mess. Message in a bottle we can prep before hand and I think it's just the best idea. I was thinking of wirting a small little message to each our guests jus tsaying thank you again to them for coming etc etc or our fav memory of them. Something sweet to set the mood.

@ Very true, and then with the drinks I'm going to rely on having the resort put them on the cups and they'll probably charge $1000 per glass just to do this. lol
