  1. @@smileitseb I think so too. I at first considered the send off...but I'm picturing a circle on the beach with sparklers and I think it's gonna look amazing if the timing is right. Our song is really short. 2-3 mins...so that's enough time I think. As CalgaryBride2015 mentioned...who knows if everyone will stick around at the end...and who knows if people will be sober enough operate a lighter? hahahah.
  2. @@Meandhim Love your planning thread! I just had a chance to sit down and read it! Were you able to sort out the travel info with your TA? My TA is out to lunch. My friend texted me this morning saying that she has email my TA 3 times and one Voicemail message in the past 2 weeks and no response. Hello? Love your wedding dress- it's such a nice style.
  3. @@calgarybride2015 thanks so much for the advice! I think you are right, first dance would be perfect. I usually don't pay attention to first dance myself...but if I can participate or feel a part of it by lighting a sparkler it certainly would keep me more focused! I'm going to go with this idea! the tags I'm making will say "let amor sparkle" I was actually going to ask you...what was it like at the end of the night? I know we are with different hotels..but did you have to do anything? like deal with the WC? Did they take down the décor? I'm used to local weddings where the bride and groom come back the next day or family comes back and takes down some of the décor etc etc.
  4. Thanks @@smileitseb ! I found a decorator in Playa del Carmen that can sell them to me for $1 Canadian each. I'm thinking of buying about 80 so I was hoping to buy them in packs as I don't want to spend $80 on sparklers...that could be money I could spend on flowers. *sigh* @@calgarybride2015 did you do sparklers? I'm wondering what the best time would be for them. I've seen some brides do a send off. Maybe we could do it at the end when we leave?
  5. Hello lovely brides and brides-to-be! I am thinking of having sparklers at our wedding. We get married this June in the Mayan Riviera. My idea was to have everyone light up their sparklers during our first dance. I am going to make little tags that say "let love sparkle" or "let amor sparkle" since we are trying to do things a little "Spanglish" Does anyone know where you can buy Sparklers in the mayan Riviera? I'm guessing the Walmart there would have them?? But just wondering if anyone else has succeeded with this. Also, for any past brides, do you think the sparkler light up would be distracting during the first dance. I don't expect everyone's undivided attention but I'm hoping that for pictures there are enough sparklers to make it pretty. At least for sure it would draw a crowd that way. Would love to hear your thoughts!
  6. Awwwww - so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!! You will get the best sleep on a beach chair with the smell of salt water! yay!
  7. @@smileitseb love your survival guide. It's sooo great!! Are you getting excited!!! ??
  8. @@MrsCtoB Thank you! I started envisioning what you were describing ....all the stress melting away. I get overwhelmed just imaginging the day. It's so hard to picture it all coming together. Sometimes it's hard to wrap my head around the fact that I'm getting married. I'm sure this sounds odd. lol It sounds like you had an amazing ceremony and reception : ) I do sell my designs online. I am veryvalero on Etsy www.veryvalero.com
  9. @@MrsCtoB I KNOW!!!! I was thinking of you. Thanks to your post about your experience I actually was brave enough to see what my options were. I felt so ashamed that it didn't fit and embarrassed and wasted a lot of tears but at least it is resolved now. I'm still gonna work hard because the new dress will probably be a little stiff.
  10. @@deecol It's exactly that! I am in this mind, body and soul. I'm finding out that my food triggers are stress. I was stressed about something yesterday and I wanted to reach for that snack...so i'm really learning a lot right now and learning to push my body to new limits. Thanks for the encouragement!
  11. @@TinkerSofi I think so too!! The nice thing is that the dress fits so I don't have like major pressure on my back. But I still want to look my best so that's what's going to motivate me right now. I go twice to the gym because I go on my lunch break and then in the evenings I try to catch a step class or pump class at goodlife. So it's about 2 hours of working out which isn't a lot considering that i'm sitting down most of the day at the office. hahaha
  12. @@ashhtayy I'm in a similar boat as you. I initially wanted to buy the bm dresses for my bridal party. 7 girls. But as I calculate the costs it's going to be about $455 + shipping which is another $150-$200. I really wanted to but now so close to the wedding I'm seeing so many additional costs and I just don't think it's going to happen. I did buy my BMs a cute wristlet Kate Spade purse and KS bangle. I am going to also give them their jewellery and possibly pay for their make up. Not sure. ah.
  13. I feel beyond relieved. I feel like a bride that is getting married in 2 months! yay! I cried so much on sunday and Monday but I'm just so glad that it's fixed now. The consultant that helped me was amazing. She was the best. I lost 8lbs from Sunday to today. I had been following a very strict diet and going to the gym 1-2 times a day...I'm still going to continue this regime but not as hardcore with the gym as I don't think I can keep up the momentum for the next 2 months.
  14. The DRESSS @@Wafflesmom @@TinkerSofi @ @@deecol @@MrsCtoB @@MissJen3 @@calgarybride2015 @@maybeoneday @moonpalacebride2be thank you so much for your kind words and support the past few days! I went to the bridal store yesterday and tried the dress on for my consultant. She didn't understand how it wasn't fitting. She took my measurements and if anything I was smaller since the last time she saw me. They brought in alterations and she couldn't figure it out. I tried the next size up and it was now too big. So we couldn't figure it. Finally the manager came and looked through my paper work and they realized that I had ordered a 14W and the dress was actually a 14. So that's why it wasn't fitting as nice. I tried the store's 14W and it fit perfectly. The dress comes in at the end of this month and then I'll rush to alterations. It's been a crazy experience but it gave me a good wake up call to get back to my weightloss goals. I'm still going to be hardcore with my works outs and diet. I want to feel the best I can possibly feel on that day. thanks ladies! *I can now breathe*
  15. @@calgarybride2015 your posts always amaze me! ziplock bags and plastic shoe containers!! of course!! Wow, so organized. I lvoe that you wrote the instructions for setup on the ziplock bags. pdccmc So excited for you and thank goodness your ring came in. I think you bring up a good point. We are totlaly ultra sensitive. i find i'm reacting to everything right now. I can't imagine a few days away from departure.
  16. How exciting! I love seeing your short list....I'm living vicariously through you right now.
  17. I'm torn on this one. Given that friends can't see anything on my FB unless I allow it on my 'timeline' I'm going to make sure that Groomzillo also does the same thing. I don't think that there is wireless connection in the area that we are getting married during the ceremony. We will probably get our photographer to iphone shoot us a few too so we can post one right before the reception for our friends and family who can't make it that way we can get ahead of the people that do post during the reception. I don't have the heart to tell people to not post things. It's their experience too and I'm not a Kardashian...so I'm not going to drive myself nuts controlling the paparazzi. hahahahha
  18. @@pddcmc Sending you lots of calming vibes! Ok, so the thing about weather forecasts and the cancun-mayan Riviera area is that it is probably going to change like 100 times between now and the actual day. Right now I'm checking my weather app for Cancun and it says that April Friday 17th is going to be Sunny and a high of 30c and low of 25c. I'll give you two examples of how unpredictable the weather forecasts are. I went to Jamaica a few years ago and the wedding was on the Wednesday. The bride and groom were freaking out because the forecast called for rain every single day. Like.every.single.day.and thunderstorms. We arrived and it was sunny and freaking hot every single day. It rained the last day we were there and honestly we were ok with that because we had had way too much sun anyway. The wedding was a hit. There was a bit of overcast and then the sun just like plowed through. Last year when I went to the Mayan Riviera around this time they forecasted rain the entire time we were there...it rained...just one day and then it passed. It's good to talk about plan B just in case. Maybe get some pictures of the hall so you can envision what it looks and how you could fill it up without breaking the bank with their overpriced flowers. I don't know if this would cheer you up, but this is what my weather app says!
  19. Oh wow! It's almost like the group rate is a better idea for busy seasons because last minute the price will probably only go up and your group rate is probably lower. Ours is the opposite. Oh well...I can't control everything. I have to just let this one go. People aren't going because they were expecting to have a price drop off $300 - they are just going because they want to come to our wedding. Our average prices, because we gave all our guests room options, is $1200-$1300.
  20. @kcole123 Yay!! I'm so happy for you! You must be sooo relieved!! I hope it worked out well today at lunch time. yay!
  21. Sunwing Price drop guarantee vent. Our travel agent just let us know today that we can apply a one-time price drop. When we signed the contract we were told the price drop could be applied 45 prior to travelling. Suddenly it is 60 days. I'm so annoyed. The weather in Toronto has been so crappy so the prices haven't really dropped. The most it's going to drop is $100. We travel in June which is the cheapest time of year to travel and our guests are going to be paying more than $200 more than what it usually costs. I thought we had 45 days and I knew the price would drop more 45 days before. So annoyed. Anyone else experience this?
  22. @pddcmc I love your welcome letter! It covers a lot of information on one sheet! So great.
  23. Congrats! Your date is coming up really fast. My instructor just went came from Costa rica and she fell in love. She said it was by far her top travel place. It's very safe and beautiful. The beaches are obviously not going to be as stunning as Tulum but everything is like super amazing!!!
  24. Time is going to flyyyyyyy by!!!!! So exciting. What does it feel like to be 22 days away from departure?
