I'm working on my "Getting Ready" playlist, which is much easier!

My "Getting Ready" playlist was much easier to put together! &...I still need to select music for the ceremony and the dinner portion of the reception.... yikes
  4. I bought veil weights that I need to sell! I've decided against a veil for my ceremony. PM me if interested
  5. I think I remember my WC telling me that an aisle runner is included for beach and gazebo ceremonies. As far as payment, I think one of our card's company doesn't charge international fees. This may be a stupid suggestion, but what about traveler's checks? (Obviously, I don't really know much about them and how they work)
  6. We are having the Mexican buffet, so I just want people to know their options. Chalkboard - probably something as simple as "D___/C___ Wedding" ...I've also thought about putting I love him & he loves me, we'll be married by the sea. or we may do something in English and Spanish, as some of our guests mostly speak Spanish. I don't know... any suggestions?? ________________________________________________________________________ OOT Cup Stuffers I bought out Target's supply of mini first aid kits and aloe. In fact, the check out person and stocking person looked at me like I had a third eyeball when I asked if they had more in the back because what they had wasn't enough. I bought the mints and plastic baggies at a dollar store all for $4, which is a steal! I need to find more Airborne (I also bought all that was in stock at the time at Target). I think I'm going to keep the mini sunblock for just the FI and I, but I don't think I'm going to purchase them for each guest. Otherwise, I will end up needing to purchase a bag for each person, and I'm trying to avoid purchasing bags too... I like being a little different and "stuffing" our cups. As for the Tums, I'm going to buy a big box of individually wrapped Tums and place a few doses in each cup.
  7. oh, boo. I have an android and we don't have this app... I hope I can find an equivalent app
  8. Ok, this is my third time trying to reply... technology is not my friend today ... Anyway... LOL. Oh. Girl. I have the same to do list as you, if not more..and I am getting married in less than one month! Here goes... To Do: Finalize Wedding Planner Form (just a couple things to iron out, otherwise this can be checked off) Finalize Guest List & Seating Chart (gotta love those stragglers...) Finalize Ceremony script (FI will do this when he get back from his business trip). (and print a copy, just in case!) Music - ceremony, first dance, AND reception Design and order stickers for cups (FI's going to do this... eventually) "Stuff" for cups - Instead of doing OOT bags, we are putting things inside the cups and attaching a tag to each one Finish said tags for cups Finish purchasing items for cups - I bought chewable Airborne packets, mini Johnson & Johnson first aid kits (obvi these won't fit in the cups), and mini Aloe Vera bottles for 97 cents at Target . I also bought plastic baggies (I've read several times that people always find use for these?) and mint LifeSavers. Will will also add pepto and lip balm (still need to purchase). Write Welcome "letter" - this will also be "stuffed" in the cups. This will include a welcome and thank you note from us, currency conversion ($1 USD = x pesos), restaurants and their hours & dress codes, an About Us section, a Who's Who section with bridal party and our moms, wedding day itinerary and reception menu, the resort map (this indicate wedding event locations), "tips", a list of places people traveled from to be at our wedding, and resort activities. FI's wedding date attire (he is FINALLY doing this this weekend!) Print Alternative Guestbook (FI designed it) Start packing - I'm 97.4% sure we will need to purchase an extra suitcase, or two Dog sitter - start taking the dogs to the sitter (as I have mentioned before, we are new to the state...and unfortunately, our dogs are spoiled and slow to warm up to people...the last thing we need is to worry about our fur babies) Go to the courthouse and make things legal Exchange money and get traveler's checks Finish place cards and table numbers Get e-ring cleaned Have final fitting (I called the seamstress after panicking all day... she had only taken in the gown by stitching it, she hadn't cut anything yet, so altering it won't be a problem. I was really freaking out that I'd have to crash diet!...which would be really hard because I haven't changed my diet/activity this entire time). Purchase chalk markers or dustless chalk for chalk board easel Buy Tide stick, superglue (just in case something happens to the fans in transit), and more sunblock Buy a few new bikinis and rompers. OH! and I want a big, floppy sunhat Hmmmm.....I think that is it, for now. Everything will get done, in due time. @@TinkerSofi I completely agree. It is just a bummer and frustrating when one's trying to plan a wedding on top of "Life." It makes me want to make everyone sit in a circle around a camp fire, hold hands, and sing kumbaya! LOL .....oooooor, "Why Can't We Be Friends" lol
  9. Chair Signs $12.99 at Michaels & on the back.... I'd like to get a few photos of us holding these... then create Thank You cards with Shutterfly
  10. @@acw271011 & @@FutureMrsGlover, Thank you so much ladies! It feels great getting this off my chest and having my BDW friends' support
  11. @ & @@smileitseb, thank you! I bought them at Little White Dress Bridal Boutique in Denver. They are by Elen Henderson Designs, but this is their website. Yes, less than one month out! I cannot believe it! To make the time go by faster, I am counting down the number of shifts left at the hospital haha (TEN!!! wooo hoooo) How is everyone else's planning coming along??
  12. No, I'm not worried about it.. we are getting married at 1730, plus the resort lays down some kind of material for the "aisle" on the beach. Furthermore, (because I thought about this a bit) we are getting to the resort 2 days before our wedding day, so I plan on "testing" the sand at our ceremony time I am more concerned about it raining... I know rain is good luck on a wedding day, blah blah..but, I put so much time, effort, and money in to a beach ceremony that it would be very difficult to not be disappointed if we had to move it indoors... Side note, has anyone else encountered ridiculous family drama during their wedding planning?? (Ok, I know that is somewhat of a silly question... I think I just need some reassurance and to know what I am not alone). I am experiencing some right now and it has me almost losing sleep! In fact, it has me so upset that I posted the whole situation!...which says a lot because I am a rather "private" person.
  13. Long story, short: My mom and sister are squabbling about Lord knows what... It has been an ongoing thing since DECEMBER. Anyway, my mother flew out this past week to visit the FI and I at our new home, as well as go to my dress fitting with me. Mom left Monday afternoon. I went to work on Tuesday and called her afterwards with the intent of getting a little reassurance about my wedding gown (at the fitting the seamstress made one of the layers a little too snug (or at least that is what she told me, maybe to make me feel better. who knows) and said she would let it out a little) - anyway, I am having several mini panics a day -- what if the gown is still too tight in Mexico because it is so flippin hot???, etc. But, moving on to my point... INSTEAD, she says to me, "your sister called me and the first thing she said was why are you whining to (pddcmc) about me not calling you back right away?" OK, WHAT? This irritated me quickly because: 1. she did not ask about the interaction I have had with my sister (if she had asked, she would have discovered that I simply sent my sister a text message stating, "Did you and mom ever catch up?" sister's response: "About what?", my response: "I don't know, she has said several times that she was waiting for you to call her because you told her not to call you again... that you were going to return her call when you had a moment.") Additionally, my sister has become notorious for not responding to people in a timely manner...so mom needs to get off her high horse and stop thinking it is a personal jab against her. 2. I have stayed out of their ongoing drama (refusing to hear any of it... again, for several reasons: 1. all three of us live in different states, 2. I am not a referee, and 3. they are adults - they can figure things out ---- OR SO I THOUGHT). 3. I just don't even have the energy to fit this uphill battle anymore. I am getting married in less than one month. I don't want to be stressed out over family drama or worrying about whether or not my family is going to ruin our wedding day, esp when I am worrying about finishing wedding stuff (alone) while the FI has several more out of state business trips before the wedding. 4. I LOVE my sister to death, but she has a BIG personality and tends to overshadow me sometimes, even though I am the eldest.... SO, I chose to write an email to both of them... I just hope I did the right thing and didn't make it worse...I posted the email below (I removed any personal details for safety reasons ) Dear Mom and Sissy, It has come to my attention that there is some ongoing discord between the two of you. I don't know if it is a misunderstanding, or something bigger than that. But, I am pleading with the both of you to work it out. I want nothing more than beautiful, happy memories of my wedding day with my husband, my family and friends, and my new family. It is important to me that you are both a part of this event, and that we are all getting along. With that being said, I do want to gently remind all of us that April 17th is about the union of (FI) and I's relationship, thus I kindly request that all positive attention be given to us. It is the one day that I am requesting this. I do not want to discuss other family members or friends, what may or may not being going on with other people, how much so-and-so wishes they could have attended the wedding, etc. I know this sounds like a harsh request, but honestly, this is what is expected at any wedding and I believe that I deserve this, so I am asking aloud. I seldom speak up for myself, but this is so important to me that I have decided to say these things. Thank you in advance for hearing me out and agreeing to this request. I know life happens and it is difficult for us (any of us) to get back to someone right away, but it is vital that we keep our relationship strong. Maybe instead of trying to call one another, maybe an email or some other means would work best? I don't know. All I know is that this family (mom, sissy, brother, and I) has been through a lot together, and we can't let little things get to us or threaten our relationship...and it seems like we all struggle with communication - whether it is actually reaching out, returning a call, or even putting into words what we actually mean rather than what we say. Please note that this email is not to either of you in particular, but a reminder for all of us to be gentle to one another and to try to see things my each other's point of view. Additionally, I want you both to understand how stressed out I am at the moment. On top of planning a wedding, (FI) and I moved 1000's of miles away from family and friends AND we both started new jobs 3 months before our wedding. However, I know all of it will be worth it. I cannot wait to stand before family and friends and become (FI)'s wife. He is a wonderful man and just, wow. Anyway, back to my main point, I am very stressed. (FI) just got back from a business trip to (out of state) and has to go on another out of state business trip this week and the next week...so I am pretty much finishing any last planning on my own. Not to mention that I have planned nearly this entire wedding myself (which is fine. I understand that everyone has their own things going on and that we moved) and dealt with all the ridiculous stress that goes with it -- finances and budget, guests lists, reservations, making everyone happy, etc. As for the last stressor - at my dress fitting, the seamstress made my dress too tight underneath the lace and I am terrified that it is going to be too snug in Mexico, especially with the humidity. What I am getting at is - I would really like to TRY to enjoy this last month, and I do not think it is fair that I am/may be constantly worrying about my family getting along at our wedding. So, please, for the love of all that is good, please, work things out between the two of you. With that being said, PLEASE DO NOT take offense to this email. My intent is not to hurt anyone's feelings or point any blame. These are simple requests that I feel must be expressed, for I fear that if I do not address my concerns, things will not be settled...or maybe things will get settled and I just worried myself sick. Either way, I have asked fairly little of the two of you during my entire wedding planning phase, so please oblige. Please let know how you guys feel, as I had stated above that we need open communication. I love you both very much and we'll be seeing each other in less than one month! Much love,
  14. no, we aren't doing anything for room keys.. we never had a problem keeping a hold of our room key when we have been to other resorts, so I don't see the point other than a way to spend a little more money.. yes, we learned this "trick" from our previous resort vacations. the bartender will fill any cup that you give them... it's nice because you get more and your drink stays cool 27 days until we are in Mexico and 29 days until we get married! WOW. _________________________________________________________________________ The Bridal Look is Coming Together! My earrings. I love them not only because they are gorgeous, but they are actually super light! (What a win-win) My barefoot sandals for the ceremony on the beach I'm not sure which ballet flats I want to wear to the reception. I'll probably bring both and decide on the day... they were inexpensive (Target). I like the lacey ones because they go with my gown..but, the coral ones (the color in the picture is a little off) are fun because they match my wedding colors. More Decor, maybe I can't decide whether I want to keep this chalk board... I guess I'll make the final decision as we are packing everything....
  15. Bridal Hair Piece Purchased from etsy. Bridgette was so wonderful! She made sure I had it before my dress fitting!
  16. The FI just home and I asked him to help me.. his response? I need to figure out what I'm wearing for the wedding. ....men....
  17. Thanks! Too bad we moved before the wedding.. I am doing this all by myself... I need some wine to get me through this project haha
  18. @@acw271011, If only I were good at tying bows! lol I was just thinking, if I had less guests I wouldn't mind doing the first style. _________________________________________________ Take 2! I found the same color ribbon at Hobby Lobby, but 7/8" width and 30 ft for $3.99 and I'll use the other ribbon (1.5" x 9 ft) I purchased for the accent color and some sparkle. The narrower ribbon is easier to wrap and secure
  19. Thanks, ladies! However, I may have to go back to the drawing board.. I only got 4 fans out of 9 ft of ribbon. I am going to go to the craft store to see if they have a better way of wrapping it (but, I don't think so - I've tried several different ways and the internet), or maybe try different ribbon? ($6.00/spool is a little much, to me) Yes, I used hot glue to secure it... a challenge in itself!

  21. lol I don't know. I haven't thought that far. However, I run quite a lot sooo I can't really feel the bottom of my feet..haha I'll let you know how it works out The goalie on Jake's soccer team brings it to games... and he doesn't even turn it up all the way. It's crazy loud... I think it should be lough enough for our reception, or I'm hoping so. Nope, we decided to just have a MOH and Best Man for the simplicity of it - any coordination down to not having to pick which friends are in the bridal party. I did send an email MOH asking if she'd like to get made-up by TBM with me. Maira (WC) was kind enough to reschedule our rehearsal later in the evening so that both moms, MOH, and Best Man could all attend. We decided against a rehearsal dinner.. we are just going to meet people for dinner/drinks, if they want. We nixed quite a bit of the traditional formalities simply because we are having a destination wedding, ya know? ____________________________________________________________________ Cake Topper from "LandscapesNMiniature" on etsy Once we are at the resort, I'll use the crystal clear glue that she had sent me to attach the champagne bottle on top of the driftwood
  22. @@nattiegams325 - Did they charge an extra table for them, too? If so, that's ridiculous. Interesting.. I am going to have a talk with Maira about trying to charge me for a day pass and a vendor fee

  24. @@acw271011 - Thank you! I think that is super awesome that you have some sixpences...honestly, I got mine off ebay for $1.00. I just thought it would be really cool to start the tradition in my family...and I'm super cheesy, in case yall haven't noticed! The silver clam shell box is from etsy $9.50 + tax = $12.00 The cups are from discountmugs.com style TMC26 I found a coupon on retailmenot.com so that made it even more of a bargain. I certainly will post a photo! I wanted to add a flower or something to them...buuuuut, I decided against it. It isn't necessary, it would be more challenging to pack, and I am kind of hoping people will at least reuse them while on the beach or on excursions. The ribbon should be easy to remove if people want. I also have pretty barefoot sandals to share...put am in dire need of a pedi first! lol esp after that 4 mile run through the snow tonight. I'm kind of bummed that my resort is charging me a day pass AND a vendor fee. They said it is because they don't use wristbands and can't keep track of who is doing what... Really? Um, let me help you out - they will be in my room doing their job... Ugh, whatever. I guess I'll suck it up. Although, I am happy with my decision to hire outside vendors for photos and hair & make-up... esp after hearing back from recent brides about their experience. PLUS, I NEVER pamper myself...so why not do it on my wedding day? I want to blow my man away
  25. @@TinkerSofi, girl. I'm just going to think of you as the waxing expert, now hahaha. Oh wow. haha. But, I guess it's just the same as me taking care of a patient and seeing them completely naked. What about sensitive skin, such as myself.. have you heard of or experienced a rash or anything similar to razor burn afterwards? I don't want that to happen if I end up doing this... ....I am literally laughing as I am writing this
